They have a whole video of multiple songs in their Levitation Sessions that is worth watching, too. These guys are from France, I believe. You should also check out Psychedelic Porn Crumpets. They're another band from Australia that is super good like King Gizzard.
They are French! And the guitarist and bassist are brothers. I'd also second checking out PPC for another band to get into. Lots of great fuzzy high-energy psych rock.
This is one of those songs where I'm sure the lyrics are super cool, but at first listen it doesn't even matter. The singing is like just another instrument. And it's awesome!
SLIFT are great! Can't wait for new music from them. Their early stuff was very derivative of Oh Sees (still awesome though), but they seem to have really found their sound with this epic space rock stuff and I love it. If you enjoyed the guitar work here I really do think you'd like Oh Sees, just gotta find the right songs - John Dwyer does a lot of neat guitar tricks like this all throughout their discography.
I really liked this one. I gotta look up the lyrics, but yea the guitar line here was so cool. Oh sees were fun too. Lots of energy. We gotta get back to them
I think their new album is so much better than this album. On this album the guitarist generally plays rhythm, matching the bass, with licks and lead thrown in. On the new songs the rhythm is left largely to the bass and drums and the guitar lays these repeating melodic lines over the top which makes for a much more dynamic sound and really lets the drums and bass shine through in the mix. BTW...I think this is the most dynamic bass and drum duo since Moon and Enthwistle P.S. Guitarists lead guitar has gotten much stronger
@@secondhandreactions I'd love to see your reaction to "Illion - live on KEXP". It's long (song length is still their biggest hurdle to wide commercial success) but maybe do the first half of it
Hell YES! i love Slift haven't seen them live yet but need to next time they come to the US
Zach! I liked this - really cool guitar work. Looking forward to hearing more
So stoked to see you guys react to Slift, especially the song Ummon, I was able to see them live not so long ago and was an amazing experience!!!
This was so creative. I keep saying it, but it’s true
For sure check out altitude lake by SLIFT as well, the kexp sessions version of that song literally sounds etherial!
Oh nice. Will do! Thanks for the suggestion
That sounds awesome!!!
Its my first time hearing Slift as well and i thought this was great ! They were very creative with lots of energy =) Thanks
Really cool guitar work - yea this was great 👍

Love this band. Fun fact, their song "Sonar" interpolates part of The River by King Gizzard!
What?? That's cool as hell. We'll have to check that out
That's just not true, lol. What part?
@@luddewho Around 1:10 or so in Sonar, it's somewhat faster than the River but I'm fairly certain that's what it's supposed to be

I gave this one in my regular mix now. Great tune. We gotta get back to more from them.

You know it’s been a minute since this reaction. I’d liked this band too. Maybe we’ll check out some of their new stuff
