At 15:40 the clips got mixed up. To clarify: If you are group B strep positive, your doctor will want to make sure you are adequately treated with antibiotics (often two doses) before artificially rupturing your membranes (AROM) to decrease the risk of a group B strep infection to your baby. Sorry for the confusion!
My labor was 29 hours and I was GBS positive. Since my water broke to kick things off, I can't imagine how much penicillin I wound up receiving lol! Love your channel, you're kicking butt getting all this content out with a new baby at home! Proverbs 31 ❤
I was induced with my little guy about three months ago. I was almost a week overdue, and honestly.. I would get induced for every single baby if I could! It was wonderful. We got a full night rest the night before (well, I barely slept bc how do you possibly sleep the night before having a kid), we were able to have a nice breakfast in the morning, stopped at Starbucks, (lol) and slowly made our way to the hospital. It was so relaxing and put me in the right mindset before going into labor. It wasn’t a situation of my water breaking in the middle of the night and having to rush to get to the hospital (I live about 35 minutes away from the hospital and wanted to avoid contractions in the car if at all possible). I was so surprised, because they didn’t even give me pitocin until the very end, and wanted to induce me as “naturally” as possible. First I was given cervidil, took some laps around the hospital, doc broke my water, then they gave me a little bit of pitocin at the very end. The nurses said it was a textbook induction delivery, and everything went great! I got an epidural about half way through labor (which lasted 6 hours total), and it was honestly such an incredible experience. Obviously going into labor naturally is usually the best case, but if you’re scared about getting induced.. don’t be! Your body knows exactly what it’s doing and the reward is so, so worth it! ❤️👶
I'm about to be induced in two days (just found out today) and your post gave me so much encouragement! It's such a different approach than everything I've been hearing about and honestly, sounds really great! I really appreciate you sharing about it!
I had a great induction experience, too! I actually went into labour from the Cervidil and didn't need the Pitocin. (I had actually had some bloody show that morning, so I think I was close to being in labour anyway.) Gave birth in about three hours and didn't end up getting an epidural because there wasn't time, LOL! It was definitely a lot better than I thought it would be.
I’m 41 weeks and 4 days. Midwife says if baby doesn’t come by 42 she’s like to have me induced. Even though I’m devastated to lose my home birth and now have to labor at a hospital I’m trying to understand all my options. Your story has given me some peace and is encouraging me to lean into the experience. Thank you for sharing!
To anyone watching this video, nervous about your induction or delivery. Its ok to be nervous, we all are, every time. Labor is something you can only control so much. You are in great hands, your doctors and nurses will take good care of you.
And right as she was talking about mother nature...thats the beauty that mother nature brought her. Im 40w..cant wait to hold my gift from Mother nature!! 😊😊😊
For those hoping for a labor without the use of pain meds and are facing a medical induction, do not give up hope. My last delivery was induced. It was a vbac, and when a,b, and c did not work, I ended up having (a very small dose of) pitocin. I also had horrible back labor. Despite all of this, I did not use any pain meds. It IS possible. And honestly, the induction was not anywhere near what I feared it was going to be. Sure, I missed my water breaking at an inconvenient location, as well as the wondering if "this is it", but once the contractions began, it was just like my other labors. It is not all bad.
Amy Francesca it’s also important to not that epidurals are not the only pain medication you can get. If the epidural is specifically what you fear then there are other options.
Thank you so much for this! Doctor told me if I don't go on my own by my next appointment (this Friday) then he will schedule an induction (Due date is April 27) and I was so looking forward to trying to go unmedicated. I'm hoping baby comes on his own though
Im a L&D nurse too and love watching your videos. There's always so much we can learn from each other and I like to utlizie a lot of your wording when I educate my own patients. Thanks for always being so clear and thorough!!
My induction was scheduled for 12-11-19, I felt so defeated for the second time (I was induced at 41 weeks with my 3 year old as well) like my body couldn’t go into labor on it’s own. I went into L&D at 5pm. At 8:30 they noticed consistent contractions and that my body was going into labor on it’s own! With the help of cytotec I delivered after just a fess’s short hours without needing pitocin this time OR an epidural thanks to your videos! I wanted you to know I really appreciate your content!
Thank you for the excellent video Nurse Zabe! I was induced almost 3 weeks ago at 37 weeks 2 days with my first little one due to gestational hypertension. I was nervous about it primarily due to horror stories found on TH-cam and the internet, but trusted my OB and my Midwife. My experience was amazing and I’m determined to tell as many people as I can. I wish more people talked about their positive induction stories so nervous first time mamas weren’t terrified to follow their doctor or midwife’s medical guidance. When I was admitted the night before my scheduled induction due to a headache and nausea secondary to my high blood pressure, I was 60% effaced and only a finger tip dilated. I immediately thought, “oh no, this is going to take forever.” Not the case. I had two doses of Misoprostal, I did have the foley bulb - didn’t hurt at all, just some pressure. Totally agree with your SIL about the most annoying part being the tail end of the foley being taped to your leg. After the foley bulb came out, I was about 5 centimeters dilated and 80% effaced. My midwife began pitocin at 1. Within a couple hours she only had to move me up to 2 on the pitocin. My body began to move things along on its on and the pitocin was stopped to avoid my contractions becoming too intense. I was at a 7 when they stopped the pitocin and broke my water. Once my water was broken (wow it is so much fluid), the contractions became really intense, but productive. I was fully dilated within 1.5-2 hours and ready to push. I pushed for about an hour. My baby girl was born healthy, not requiring any NICU time and is doing perfect at almost 3 weeks old. I only had a small abrasion near my urethra and according to my midwife, “a barely 1 degree” tear inside my vagina that required a couple stitches. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. If I have to have a medical induction in the future I won’t be terrified.
K F - Thank you for sharing your story! I’m currently 36+2 days and in the hospital for preeclampsia. They’re trying to keep me until 37 weeks before inducing but it may happen sooner. Haven’t heard what they plan to do as far as induction yet. I’m not nervous but I am curious the process of it all!
I love your videos and I learned a lot during my pregnancy. I was induced 3 weeks ago at exactly 39 weeks. I had planned on being induced because I’m 41 no complications and first time mom. My OB actually made me go into the hospital a day earlier because I wasn’t feeling much movement and that scared her...I had to get the IV patocin then the ballon...the balloon hurt so much OMG. Made the epidural seem like cake...they then broke my water in the evening...I can’t remember times because I was going through the motions. In conclusion I ended up having an 8 pound 14 ounce baby girl early.. in conclusion I’m glad I had been induced because she had trouble getting out. Her shoulder was tucked above my pelvis bone. Doc had to reach in a grab her out. I’m glad she’s fine despite the initial scare..pushed her out in 40 mins...I was in horror at the thought of pushing for hours...I’m glad everything worked out for me and I would definitely tell women just make sure to speak with your doctor about your concerns...had my doctor known my baby was that big she told me she would have considered c section to be safe...good luck to all women having babies. Wishing you a safe healthy delivery
I’m 39 years old pregnant with my first and only baby. Getting pregnant was literally a miracle for me since I never thought I could have children. I have hypertension but take medicine to control it. As well as Hypothyroidism. My OB is having me be induced at 39 weeks. I’m so glad I found your channel. Your videos have helped me so much I can’t even begin to express my gratitude for the information you share. I wish you could be my nurse 💗
I actually had cholestasis with my second child I kept being really itchy and thought I was just crazy when I finally told my doctor they didn't get the results in till I was in labor at 38 weeks it definitely taught me the importance of talking to your doctor and telling them all your symptoms even if you think they're silly
I was induced with one of my kids the doctor used pitocin i was a fast and really good labor i loved it and definitely will ask to be induced again if i ever get pregnant again my labor lasted 3 hours after they started the medication
Lidia Sanchez wow ur lucky ! I was in labor 11 hrs when i was induced and whats crazy is i was walking around 5cm dialated for a week and my labor still took forever
I know this video is a couple years old, but I’m on my third pregnancy and being induced at 39 weeks on March 2 due to medical recommendations so I came here to just help normalize things in my brain and make the experience less anxiety inducing when the time comes. Really appreciate all the great info.
I had 3 rounds of Cytotec, then Pitocin(continued pitocin until I gave birth), then a Foley bulb. Let me just say that the Foley bulb was the most excruciating pain I’ve ever experienced. Active labor pain wasn’t as bad as the manual induction. I’ve heard other women say it was uncomfortable but not painful. I’m not sure why it hurt me so much. Never again!
I would honestly be induced again! My labor and delivery went so smoothly, I had the foley balloon and had 30 units of pitocin. This was my first baby and my entire labor/delivery was 22 hours and pushed baby out in 27 min 😊
I agree. I had my first baby 17 days ago. He was 9lb7oz. Only labored 30 hours and pushed him out in 33min. They said it was amazing especially with me being a FTM and his size. Congrats on your little one!
Getting induced in a week with my first baby! I’m so nervous but also so excited ❤️ Thank you for this video; I feel like I’m going in with a bit of knowledge now
Aww your little girl coming in with makeup all over her face made me laugh so hard I almost peed 😂 being pregnant and having something suddenly crack you up is dangerous 🤣
Perfect timing right. My due date is Wednesday but if I dont have baby by Friday they will induce Friday.Too much against me to not O.B said age, number of babies and G.D. Anyway good luck to you!
I had to be induced at 41 weeks, and it wasn't at all how I wanted it to go but I had my beautiful son on May 13th of this year. I made it to 5 cm and then he got stuck and I didn't progress anymore. He was too big to come through my pelvis. Obviously a cesarean was necessary and the worst case scenario for me but I got my healthy 9 lb 3 oz, 22 inch long baby boy! I am so grateful ☺ I love your channel!
Love your videos! I am 29 weeks with my 2nd pregnancy. My 1st pregnancy ended in stillbirth at 36wks 2 days, it was horribly traumatic and even with further testing we never found the reason. I see a MFM monthly and we have decided to induce at 37 weeks this time around instead of going longer, even though this pregnancy is going smooth. I was a little bummed nothing was mentioned about this in the video, but I understand you can't touch on everything! I figured I'd add my experience here in case anyone can relate. Thanks again for your videos!
Been watching you for years now. Having my first baby in 5 days via induction! Thank you for everything you do. I hope I have l&d nurses as lovely and comforting as you are
I use to watch your videos when I was in high school years ago and in about 6 hours I’m going to have my first by induction, thank you for making these videos ☺️
First baby: Cervix softener ✅ Foley bulb (aka the devil) ✅ Pitocin ✅ 25 hours of labor ✅ I’m hoping to knock one of those out this time around 🤣 Great video!!! Very informative!
You make me feel better about my body. I've been medically induced 3 times. My body just does not want to go into labor on its own. I've been over 2 weeks late all 3 pregnancies.
Oh yay you made the induction video! I was induced 2 weeks ago and had a very possible experience, but I know there are so many women out there who didn’t have a chance to have a good experience/weren’t informed enough. Thank you so so much for your amazing videos!
I went completely natural with both my children. When I was having my son (my second child), I was at 7cm, not in any real pain at all (everyone was saying, “WOW! You’re doing great at 7cm!” LOL!) and didn’t progress for an hour. They told me that they could give me pitocin or I could stimulate my nipples to get things going faster as he needed to come out soon (water was broke a few hours before). I was at 38 weeks with him. I started to stimulate my nipples and within 20 minutes, I was in AGONY with severe back pain, at 10cm and starting to push. Nipple stimulation WORKS! They told me he was sunny side up and I should get on my hands and knees. At this point, I wasn’t moving positions at all with contractions every 1 minute. I just asked my doctor to use the warm mineral oil on my perineum and perineal massage. He came out 35 minutes later at 9lbs 1oz. Was TOTALLY worth it and I probably scared some people in the hallway with my screaming when he finally crowned, but hey, that’s natural labor for you! On my first baby and my second, they had to give me a pitocin shot in my leg AFTER labor because my uterus stopped contracting and wouldn’t release the afterbirth. I was blissfully unaware of the difficulty they were having because I was too focused on my BIG baby boy! The BEST distraction EVER!
I'll be having an induction in November. I'm excited! Last time I went to 41 weeks and had a sick placenta and a sick baby (GBS septicemia). I feel like being over due affected the health of my placenta which didn't want to come out. Thank you for this info! It'll help me out a lot!
I love what you said about how you’d love to see more research on that study that said inductions led to less c sections at 39 weeks than just waiting. And that you’re a huge fan of mother nature but on the other hand, sometimes mother nature is ok with you dying 😅 😂 This is so true!! I’m thankful for both the body knowing what to do but also medical advancements! We can appreciate both
All honesty- the foley hurts like hell to put in! But once it's in, I didn't really notice it. I had it with 2 of my pregnancies (I have heart issues so they induced me) and it did help speed up the induction after it stalled!
Just a nuance, the future edit diagram you show is a Cook Balloon which I'd never seen (or heard of) until this hospital I'm at now. It has 2 balloons, one uterine, one vaginal. Each can fill up to 80mL (but this facility uses 60mL standard policy) and no traction is applied. The 2 balloons put pressure on both the internal and external os of the cervix to promote thinning as well as dilation. It comes with a stylet, so it's easier for the OB to place in a minimally dilated cervix. It's also silicon, so it's a little stiffer even without the stylet, and you don't have to worry about latex allergies. Patients are typically 4cm dilated when it comes out. If it doesn't come out, it's deflated and removed at 12 hours. This facility doesn't, but in researching it for myself, I've found because mechanical cervical ripening does not cause tachysystole, it can be done as an outpatient procedure. The patient checks into hospital the next day for medical induction. ACOG recommends all medical ripening be done inpatient because they can cause tachysystole. I encourage you as an awesome birth educator to try to get your facility to change policy on medical cervical ripening. Love your videos, sis. You're my mind of labor nurse.
Wow I’m SHOOK. I just set up our induction for Wednesday morning (39 weeks 2 days today, low fluid levels worry my midwife) And I needed this especially from you!!
I was saying cholestasis wrong the whole time?!😳 well I’m glad I gave birth already haha my medical induction went smoothly. Was 37 weeks when I went in and got cervidial(I think it was) and at 7/8 am I got the pitocin and 30 minutes later my dr broke my waters. By 230 I got the epidural. I was shaking and hyperventilating so it was the best thing. At 4 my dr came in to check my progress and my sons head was right there and I had slept through it 🤣 35 minutes of pushing and my baby was here ❤️ almost 7 months
I was electively induced, I waited until 40 weeks rather than 39. The ARRIVE study had a lot to do with my decision along with discussions with my doctor. More research is definitely needed before practices completely change (longer time in hospital in labor before baby comes) but I had such a great experience! Was induced with Foley catheter followed by pitocin.
I appreciate you sooo much. I am going to be induced Friday night since I have too much fluid this is my first child and I am nervous! But I know it can be a positive experience and it is what I make it
I am sooo glad o found your channel! 15 weeks pregnant & binge watching ur vids, You have taught me so much & I feel so prepared to give birth confidently! Thank u for ur videos ❤️
I recently got induced at 39 weeks and let me tell you it took about 24 hours for me to fully open , I had horrible back labor baby was sunny side up when I was already 10cm took about 2 hours to turn and had to have the peanut ball although I did get epidural to help with blood pressure but trust it didn’t help at all felt all but was totally worth it ! Was so close to giving up and getting a c section but pushed through, all these videos helped a lot love them very educational ☺️
41 weeks and 4 days today...had bloody show with contractions two days ago and hoping this baby comes before my 42 week Mark because that’s when I’ll be induced.
I’ll be getting induced Sunday at 38 weeks due to my baby being so small. But I am so nervous..I’m a first time mom. So this video helped with a lot of questions!
Thank you so much for making this video!!!! I just got home from my OB appointment and we were talking about induction and all kinds of different things to get this baby coming, so I'm SUPER glad you posted this video when yiu did, because it helped me understand what the process is and how it works/will go!! Thank you so much!!! (For all your videos, really!)
I got medically induced due to my baby measuring approximately 3-4 weeks smaller. I was 38 weeks and belly measuring at 34. At exactly 39 weeks I gave birth to a beautiful and very healthy baby girl! Weighing just 5lbs 4oz (: turns out she was just a tiny little girl! Almost 4 months today! Glad my doctors took precautions to make sure her health was good!! Thank you for this video!
I was induced with my oldest at 39+4 my water broke at home I was 1 cm hours went by and my contractions were not strong enough to open my cervix . I was given pitocin and 7 mins later I was pushing lol I had this weird sensation I felt her sliding down it was like a very mild grinding.. 2 pushes baby out 💕
I was induced on the 19th of November at 6:46AM with the membrane sweep method because I was four days past my due date and I haven't started dilating and I still haven't felt any contraction so they did another membrane sweep method at 6:24PM later that day and I started feeling contractions immediately and my water broke around 11:03PM and I was at 1cm and haven't moved to 4cm until 8AM then around 10:30AM I moved to 9cm and have the baby at 11:24AM.
This really put me at ease with the idea of having to be induced😭 I’ll still talk to my doctor about it but I was so scared because I had no idea what would be done
I'm being induced on April 26/27.. Was shocked bc I didn't expect it even being high risk bc I've had a great pregnancy... I'm nervous about the entire process bc I wanted it to be more natural..
I am getting induced next Tuesday... I am very nervous but am glad I came across this video. Very informative and am jealous of the lucky moms who have you as a L&D nurse. Because of Covid, I can only bring one person and really wish my mom could be there. 😔
For the entirety of my fourth pregnancy, I walked around 4-5 cm dilated the entire time. I went from 5 to 7 to ready to push in 2 hours. It was amazing. But the pressure and prodromal labour was intense.
Nat Pearl wow i hope this pregnancy is just like yours being as its my 4th as well lol with my 1st i was dialated 5cm for a week, but my labor was slow and ended up being 11hrs long
What do you mean by you were 4-5 cm dilated the whole pregnancy? I have to be reading wrong because that would be dangerous right? Do you mean by a certain time after 30 something weeks?
Can you do a video about diabetes during pregnancy and how to take care if diabetes develops during pregnancy (is it called gestational diabetes?), please. Thank you
I had it several times.Your body has to much insulin left that can affect babies weight.I have always controlled mine with diet,a certain amount of carbohydrates and low sugar, light exercise can help as well.I had to finger stick but you get used to it.There are many videos on this platform that can help as well.
I have GD and they're inducing me 2 days before my actual due date. And I'm depressed over the entire thing. I don't want to do it. But its being pushed. I wish my baby would just come earlier. And I'm angry over the entire process.
As soon as I hit 39 weeks and elective induction was offered I took it. I was had so much anxiety if my baby was going to make it out okay I couldn't wait another week. I was already dilated so my OB said induction was favorable. No pain medications or epidural. No C-section. It was the hardest thing I have ever done but overall a great delivery 😃
Getting induced on Wednesday! This is my first baby. Praying for a safe and uncomplicated delivery 🤍 thank you for all of this information. I felt like my provider didn’t really explain the process to me very well
Yay right on the day of my induction! Go in at 8pm! ❤️❤️❤️ I am having medical induction because I have been having issues with my gallbladder. 39 weeks as of today!! Wish me luck!
I'm 40 +4 weeks and today my dr will be discussing induction with me. This video made me feel much more comfortable going in a talking about induction. This is baby 2 and baby 1 was partially induced. (My water broke on it's own but I never started contractions so I was given pitocin) this time around I keep having contraction and they can last a couple of hour increase in intensity and be 4 mins apart but it amount to nothing and it's making me think my body has trouble with contractions own its own.
Does your hospital offer sterile water injections as a form of pain blockers? My midwife suggested i try it during my labour and it was incredible. I went from terrible back pain that prevented me from walking to freely walking around for the rest of the delivery. The TENS machine was only doing so much but the injections (while they did hurt SO BADLY when they were being put in) worked instantly and are the coolest thing.
My friends mom was going to get induced at 39 weeks to get the baby a passport before they went to the bahamas in like 3 weeks from then, but got medically induced at 37 weeks for pre eclampsia
I was induced with my daughter just over 12 weeks ago. My placenta was in a bad way and I was 40+2 when I started at 0 cervical change. It was the wildest 27 hours of my life. It was kinda nice knowing when my baby was coming and not having to guess if it was hospital time etc. But it was rough starting from 0 change. Had the misoprostol, balloon, pitocin, had my water broken, the whole shebang
The foley bulb hurt so much! I nearly kicked my doctor in the face. By nearly I mean I missed. I was terrified of it with my second and was so grateful to hear I didn’t need it because I was too dilated. I think it depends on the momma whether or not it hurts.
The thought of induction makes me panic. My first I went into labor naturally. My second I was over due 9 days and so they broke my water and I walked until labor hit and then had my baby. I'm pregnant with my third and there are some health concerns with things and I'm keeping my fingers crossed I dont have to be induced. I went without pain medication both times and I prefer it that way. I'm a control freak and I cant deal with the thought of being numb and unable to move. As well as needles.. I absolutely hate them. I know tons of people who have had great induction experiences but I guess my natural childbirth class has me still freaked out.
So glad you posted this.. I've dodged two induction by my very late babies coming at the last minute. I've always been afraid of the whole idea of being induced.
Katie HM I got induced 2 weeks ago and let me tell you, it was a lot smoother than I thought. Having amazing nurses and keeping a positive mind (while also being informed) helped a lot and I’m very proud to say I had a very positive birth experience for my first child 🥰 kind of hoping to get induced the next time haha
The induction of my last pregnancy was so painful, and I didn't know exactly what could happen. I tried really hard to have a "natural" labor, a pain medication free one. I was a week overdue and they gave me the foley and pictocin right away. I was already dilated to 3 cm. I had only dilated to 5 after about 4 hours so they broke my water. I don't remember anything but intense pain after that. My contractions were 1 minute apart for the next hour. It was relentless. They offered me the epidural again, saying it could help me dialate so I took one dose of it. It only took me an hour to dialate and 5 pushes after to deliver my son. I really want to try for a medication free labor again. I am terrified of the epidural, I know I can do it without. I'm terrified of being induced again. My decision making was so impaired by the pain after having my water broke, I would have agreed to having heroin injected into my eye if it meant my son would come sooner and the pain would stop. I really appreciate all of these videos, especially the more recent ones featuring the labor toolbox. I've been afraid, but feeling much more confident in my ability to birth this second child.
I had an induction at 37 weeks due to IUGR Checked in at 3:30 pm and set up by 5 pm started misoprostol 5:30 pm 9:30 pm having regular contractions Attempted to place balloon at 10 pm and failed (wasn’t dilated enough) 1 am having stronger regular contractions 8am contractions slowed down but painful 9am second attempt balloon was a success contractions picked up immediately 12 pm took another miso and got pain meds 5pm balloon was out and started Pitocin 4am Pitocin stopped produced no change took another miso 930 am water broke started Pitocin again 1030 am I got pain meds 1130 am I started IV for epidural 12:30 pm I was in excruciating pain, Penelope was coming! No time for epidural I started pushing, pushed for 15-20 minutes and she was born at 12:58pm 4lbs 14oz 17 1/2 inches long .
I am literally in the car with my husband on the way to my indcution as I'm watching! I love your videos and we are excited to welcome our son. This is a full term induction so I'm 39 weeks but my doctor is new and he was saying how going after 40-41weeks is actually more stressful to baby so we went with 39 weeks plus I'm epileptic.
@@Nurse_zabe my son was born via C Section because my son's hand slipped through my cervix and he was positioned awkwardly. But he is a very healthy and happy baby boy!
I'm being induced at 37wks due to chronic hypertension. Not the way I wanted to get this little guy out, I didn't want any medication, but this video is helpful since I don't have a choice!
I don’t remember the foley being painful, mine came out while I was using the restroom and that wasnt really uncomfortable just super weird feeling! I was induced using potocin and the foley, spent 36 hours being induced before ending up getting a csection. I was on 10 ml of pitocin for super long until my sons heart rate kept dropping after each contraction so they started dialing it back and took a break but his heart rate kept dropping. My water ended breaking on its own but I never dilated past 5cm and my son was never really engaged, really hoping my labor experience is super different the next time I get pregnant
I was supposed to get 12 hrs of Cervadil before Pitocin at my induction, but the Cervadil put me into labor! The contractions were so close together they had to take it out. That plus breaking my water got me to 7cm before I got any Pitocin.
Thank you for making and posting this video. I'm going to be induced in a few days. This is also my 1st baby and am really nervous about delivery so this really helped out a lot
You read my mind, I was really hoping you’d have sone videos on induction! I want to be induced at 39 weeks with my first as that’s when my mum will be around for the birth ☺️
Can you do a video on precipitous labor? My last baby was born in the hospital elevator within 3 hours of my labor starting. I am currently 36 weeks and I'm kind of panicking about having the same thing happen! My doctor has recently started talking to me about induction and I'm seriously considering it, but still nervous that it might happen before the induction. 😳
I'm scheduled for an induction the day after my due date if she doesn't come out on time! No medical necessity, just my doctor recommended scheduling one to reduce the chance of a C-section, and to do it in advance because the hospital's L&D ward likes to know how many non-medically-necessary inductions to prepare rooms for.
So glad for this video, I'm scheduled for an induction on Saturday and my last OB appt is tomorrow so this helps me know what questions to be asking my doctor about my induction plan. Thank you!
I was medically induced starting on Nov 1st at 39wks. Didn't need any cervical ripening as I was a bit greater than 1cm and had a soft cervix. They put in the cook catheter the night I was induced, (wasn't painful, just uncomfortable, the line WAS the most annoying, though they left it free) took it out 12 hours later (9am) when I was at 4cm, and started the pitocen. I don't know about how much they usually put in, but they started the drip at .002 of whatever unit they were doing (I forget) and by 1:30pm they had me at .012, where they kept it (Is that a lot, or a little?) The contractions started being painful at about 2:45pm, and my water broke at about 3:30pm (could hear it pop on the monitor). By 4:30pm I was still 4cm (fully effaced) and my contractions were so hard I wanted an epidural (they said I likely had several hours to go), but the anesthesiologist was busy, so they gave me fentinol (barely helped). Just before 5pm my body took over and started pushing for me on the contractions. The midwife and nurse barely got everything prepared on time to deliver my son who arrived at 5:18pm. I know it's a relatively short induction (20 hours from catheter placement to delivery), but wow was it a ride.
Im going in to get induced Thursday at 6am, Currently its 9pm on Tuesday. Baby #4. Hoping for a pain med free delivery. We'll see as I've never been induced before
At 15:40 the clips got mixed up.
So glad you had such a positive experience! You’re right that contractions in the car are the absolute worst!
Thank you for that comment, I should be induced in two days, and this makes me a little less anxious.
2 years later, and I'm glad I saw this comment. I'm going in to be induced in 4 days, and I'm definitely nervous. This comment actually helped a lot.
@@Shawnielee1990 how did it go? I’m going to be induced March 14th!
@@Sophiastillwell33 we're both alive and healthy. ❤
Oh my gosh, that little make-up smeared face that rolled into the shot 😂😂😂 too cute!

She looked so proud of herself too 🤣
One week ago I was induced in the morning and had my baby girl by noon. Had a great experience. I was so nervous.

Yes! They speak the same way :)
Omg yesss!!!!!!!!
Aw, amazing, mama! So thankful you had the birth you were hoping for! 💗💗
Thanks I'm going to be 40+ weeks next week and a planned induction
So happy you had a healthy delivery of your sweet chunk! Congrats, mama! 💗💗
My doctor wants to induce me at 39 weeks March 1st! 🤍
How'd it go? I have an induction next week, I'll be 40+3 days if she doesn't come sooner
I’m so nervous but also so excited ❤️
Thank you for this video; I feel like I’m going in with a bit of knowledge now
How did it go?

Getting induced on Wednesday! I'm 40 +5, I will be 41 weeks on the day of induction 🤦🏾♀️. I'm so very tired of being pregnant.
The beautiful makeup covered face that casually walked into the screen has me smiling and laughing so hard!
I am SO sorry about your first child. That must've been incredibly horrible for you. I pray your second baby is healthy and thriving. 🙏🏽
First baby:
Cervix softener ✅
Foley bulb (aka the devil) ✅
Pitocin ✅
25 hours of labor ✅
I’m hoping to knock one of those out this time around 🤣
Great video!!! Very informative!
You make me feel better about my body. I've been medically induced 3 times. My body just does not want to go into labor on its own. I've been over 2 weeks late all 3 pregnancies.
Can you do things your Labor nurse wants you to know about early labor/the NICU?
Oh yay you made the induction video! I was induced 2 weeks ago and had a very possible experience, but I know there are so many women out there who didn’t have a chance to have a good experience/weren’t informed enough. Thank you so so much for your amazing videos!
So glad to hear you had a positive induction experience! Congrats on your sweet babe! 💗💗
Nurse Zabe thank you 🥰
I went completely natural with both my children.
I don't know what's funnier... your daughter nonchalant entering the shot or you completely unphased by it. hahahaha Thanks for the video!
And that you’re a huge fan of mother nature but on the other hand, sometimes mother nature is ok with you dying 😅 😂
This is so true!!
I just set up our induction for Wednesday morning (39 weeks 2 days today, low fluid levels worry my midwife)
And I needed this especially from you!!
But I know it can be a positive experience and it is what I make it
Definitely perfect timing like several others said! I might be induced within a week or two!

This would have been helpful! I just had an epidural 6 weeks ago. I thought it was the best labour I have had. I felt totally in control.
How awesome! This video was uploaded 16 hours before I got to schedule my induction! Perfect timing. ❤️
41 weeks and 4 days today...had bloody show with contractions two days ago and hoping this baby comes before my 42 week Mark because that’s when I’ll be induced.

Aww, a little designer baby. You could fit her in your purse! 💗💗
This is my situation now. My baby girl is measuring at 5lbs 1 oz at 37weeks 5 days. I will be induced next week.
2 pushes baby out 💕
Getting induced tomorrow morning!! So nervous 😭
Perfect timing!! I’ll be induced in 2 weeks first time mama and I’m so nervous. But being informed helps some of the fear go away
Congrats on your baby!
This really put me at ease with the idea of having to be induced😭 I’ll still talk to my doctor about it but I was so scared because I had no idea what would be done

How did it go??
Nope! Basically the entire time. My midwife said it's normal and I just had a very robust mucus plug.
Can you do a video about diabetes during pregnancy and how to take care if diabetes develops during pregnancy (is it called gestational diabetes?), please. Thank you
It’s on my list!
Thank you
I had it several times.Your body has to much insulin left that can affect babies weight.I have always controlled mine with diet,a certain amount of carbohydrates and low sugar, light exercise can help as well.I had to finger stick but you get used to it.There are many videos on this platform that can help as well.
I have GD and they're inducing me 2 days before my actual due date. And I'm depressed over the entire thing. I don't want to do it. But its being pushed. I wish my baby would just come earlier. And I'm angry over the entire process.
How was it?
I am most likely going to have to be induced or have a scheduled C-section due to being a type 1 diabetic, so this is very helpful. Thank you!
I know I picked the perfect time to use your makeup. How do I look, everyone? I hope just like Mommy.
She’s such a mess 😂

I'm 40 +4 weeks and today my dr will be discussing induction with me. This video made me feel much more comfortable going in a talking about induction. This is baby 2 and baby 1 was partially induced. (My water broke on it's own but I never started contractions so I was given pitocin) this time around I keep having contraction and they can last a couple of hour increase in intensity and be 4 mins apart but it amount to nothing and it's making me think my body has trouble with contractions own its own.
Getting induced TOMORROW & I’m sooooo glad I came across this video
Does your hospital offer sterile water injections as a form of pain blockers? My midwife suggested i try it during my labour and it was incredible. I went from terrible back pain that prevented me from walking to freely walking around for the rest of the delivery. The TENS machine was only doing so much but the injections (while they did hurt SO BADLY when they were being put in) worked instantly and are the coolest thing.
I'm so happy you mentioned cholestasis because that was my reason for my medical induction
same here. Im being induced Tuesday
@@jessa3142 good luck momma
I've only had inductions. I've never softened, dilated or been close to going into labor on my own 😔 hopeful this time around. (4th pregnancy)
I love these type of videos... I wanna become a L&D so, anything about labor and delivery really interests me and helps!
Oh those rascal babies. They just like the comforts of home wayyyyy too much 😊
The induction of my last pregnancy was so painful, and I didn't know exactly what could happen.
I had an induction at 37 weeks due to IUGR
Checked in at 3:30 pm and set up by 5 pm started misoprostol 5:30 pm
9:30 pm having regular contractions
Attempted to place balloon at 10 pm and failed (wasn’t dilated enough)
1 am having stronger regular contractions
8am contractions slowed down but painful
9am second attempt balloon was a success contractions picked up immediately
12 pm took another miso and got pain meds
5pm balloon was out and started Pitocin
4am Pitocin stopped produced no change took another miso
930 am water broke started Pitocin again
1030 am I got pain meds
1130 am I started IV for epidural
12:30 pm I was in excruciating pain, Penelope was coming! No time for epidural I started pushing, pushed for 15-20 minutes and she was born at 12:58pm 4lbs 14oz 17 1/2 inches long .
Planned induction for medical reasons on Monday at 40w. Praying my little princess shows up on her own before that 😭
Good luck, mama! You got this! 💗💪🏼
Good luck! Let us know how it goes. 💗
@@Nurse_zabe Of course contractions are every two to three minutes so things are going well
@@Nurse_zabe my son was born via C Section because my son's hand slipped through my cervix and he was positioned awkwardly. But he is a very healthy and happy baby boy!
I'm being induced at 37wks due to chronic hypertension.
Not the way I wanted to get this little guy out, I didn't want any medication, but this video is helpful since I don't have a choice!
Can you do a video about things you should do before you leave for the hospital?
I needed this video when I had my first a little over a year ago! Now I’m due with #2 in March and am so glad you made this video ❤️
Please do a video on gestational diabetes :) thank you!
I have Cholestasis of Pregnancy and going to be induced at 38 weeks. This was very informative, thank you!
You’re welcome! Good luck with your induction!
I was supposed to get 12 hrs of Cervadil before Pitocin at my induction, but the Cervadil put me into labor! The contractions were so close together they had to take it out. That plus breaking my water got me to 7cm before I got any Pitocin.
Cervadil or cytotec can definitely be enough to kick people into labor.
Is cervadil or pitocin more painful ?
Thank you!
Currently 29 weeks and planning to be induced at 36/37 weeks due to Sickle Cell Anemia. Thanks for the wonderful information!
I might be getting induced tomorrow. This video just reduced my anxiety
Good luck and happy birthing
You’ve got this, mama! It’s normal to be anxious to do something you’ve never done before. It doesn’t mean you aren’t brave and strong. 💪🏼💗
We'll see as I've never been induced before
Getting induced next week so nervous! I went into labor naturally with my first!
