Ooh, putting Nathan's second face and Julia's sardine tin on their shirts is a really neat compromise for making their new avatars fit your style! (and... making Nathan's face a mask?? I guess that's accurate to his avatar, but does that make real-Nathan a sentient shirt? I might be overthinking this)
also Julia’s old eye covering hair is now a shine on her glasses! And Jacob’s hair and outfit have changed to be accurate as well, and Nathan’s face has slight stitch marks, there’s sooo much to the designs in this episode I really like them
@@vampirelibrarian777oh, good catch with Julia’s eye! I assumed DBI was just experimenting with putting reflections on the lenses, I didn’t make the connection with previous design cohesion.
“I’m not born yet!” Reminds me of when my lunch group at work decided to watch Stranger Things every day while we ate. During the pilot the oldest guy in our group said, “wait, who’s alive while this is happening?” & I was the only one to raise their hand & he said “oh thank God” that there was at least one other person who was alive. I didn’t have the heart to say it was only by a few months.
Very small detail, but I noticed that when DBI is typing at 1:26, his phone is at 69% and it’s 4:20 pm. Just one of many tiny details that make this such a joy. Let’s all wish him a speedy recovery.
People used to write letters to TV shows. I don't know how these people learned the address to send them to, but it happened. Some of them where hilarious.
The old shows used to show an address to send things to if I'm not mistaken. Not all of them did but definitely some of them. I know Mystery Science Theater did and I'm pretty sure when Joel read them (I can't recall if Mike read some as well) they were actual fan letters, sometimes with fan art!
The amount of research and calling operators one would have to do (i’m guessing) would have caused me to give up on most complaints. That’s too much of my free time
@@MiracleMags Some shows would share the fan letters during the episode, read aloud and/or shown on screen, so it was more like the letters column of a comic book; the address was easy to find, typically shown on the screen at the end of the episode, and they encouraged it. You just had to write it down and if you had taped it, then you could pause.
Now I'm just remembering "Write to me, Stick Stickly. PO Box [something ending in 3]. New York City, New York State, 10108." What a wild and utterly useless thing to (mostly) recall some 25 years later.
god this one is incredible. the back and forth with audio editing, the little switch ups... one of my favorite things that's a consistent part of your drawfee anims is that whenever jacob is trying to pitch something, at part of it, he always gets stress sweats. idk why but it's so hilarious to me and really adds to the whole scenario of them having it as a real discussion in an environment. jacob looking around anxiously while trying desperately to get the rest of drawfee to both listen and "yes and" his bits is so funny. i saw your community post for this and am still laughing at someone commenting about the new fits only for you to point out *karina's* new furby mode in that shot, it did not disappoint in the actual animation!! sorry i'm just yapping now, i really enjoyed this!!
I love the continuity of the bits here. Once Karina leaves the 90s and becomes a furby she remains a furby in the flashbacks until they return to the present, and then once she bonks DBI, he remains out cold and she has a blood splatter for the rest of the bit. Also obsessed with the anime fanart eyes, and everyone getting the survey 😂
NGL I’d be down for a DBI x Drawfee “He found my avalanche” Decal. Or like, a whole DBI x Drawfee sticker sheet, like the ones we used to get to decorate our iconic black and white splotch pattern Composition Notebooks back in the day.
I really appreciate the way this somehow kept escalating. I kept thinking, “okay, that’s gonna be the joke I remember from watching this” and then it’d immediately get supplanted by the next one.
God, every little detail in this is gold. The fact that you still figured out a way to have Julia’s eye obscured even with her new portrait’s hairstyle, Furby Karina, cameos by Spencer and his seltzer avalanche, Clothespin Boy, and yourself, you leaving a comment that says “out of disrespect for Jacob”- all of it just adds up to a wonderful animation.
Love with the new Julia design you still managed to incorporate the covered eye. Something more cursed though is that I don't read the grumpy Nathan on the shirt as a graphic but more a chest window with a face. Nice episode, nice animation as usual, and hopefully you can still animate in the afterlife.
I like the idea of a bunch of friends going on a fun trip, but one is being sour and won't go, and then she changes her mind after they left, so she can only join them via Furby.
I want to see a semi-comedic movie set in the 90s where somebody learns to astral project to be with their friends, but can only manifest inside Furbies.
I love nathans design transition from puppet to puppet person and his grumpy face being his T-Shirt. Also how one of Julias eyes is perpetually like its still covered by hair lol. And of course, Karina being Karina and turning into a Furby. Jacob. Looking chill lol. Well done work, Sir Ink!
The eyes wide, mouth agape furby Karina (furbina? kurby?) staring at the tv really got me, I love how she talks like a parrot. Giving Nathan a shirt with the chest cut out is also a really good idea, really gives him the chance to open that third and fourth eye. Side note has anyone checked on DeepBlueInk recently? I would hate for him to be hit with something he didn't see coming but I fear it may be too late.....
The little uncertain but still somehow stoic look Julia gives as Karina fades out of existence is so entirely accurate to how she actually moves and reacts to things
The tracking at 1:38 -1:41 was absolutely unnecessary, but I wanted you to know that I appreciated it. Very nice. Also, I had a solid chuckle at the shock of anime Jacob.
Love how, since Julia always has one eye covered in your designs, you used the reflection from her glasses to cover said eye since her hair is cut shorter. That is a nice touch.
Also the new interpretations of their new portaits are really nice! I was a little concerned about the problems the full fish suit would cause for blocking and such going foward, but these are a fantastic compromise!
This was one of the best episodes you've ever made it has so many moving parts and every couple a seconds I was trying to keep track of the jokes or how the scene was progressing
I really do love the new Julia design because it looks great and is a great representation of her… but I am also slightly disappointed she’s not in a fish suit😂
Its an odd day when I can find myself looking at both sonic butthole saga and bugs bunny soft, and neither are the most cursed thing in my field of view
