The fact that Olivera even considered flying in the corner in the end deserves AT LEAST a yellow card XD
He thought his banshees were still alive. Certainly an Idra gg timing but not BM.
@Gredddfe Olivera had literally 0 workers left while Dark had 2 bases mining, and 20 Zerg army supply in his main. There's no way 2 banshees brings that back.

I think Olivera was just in shock that he lost the series to queens running across the map. He was just trying to process how this happened.

I feel like Dark summons Ricky the Accidental Swarm Host more often than most any pro Zergs I know, and he always seems glad to get him into the action and get use out of him, despite him being an accident, and despite him being extra micro/hassle to deal with. Waste not, want not, I suppose.
Dark is so powerful, half of every day is devoted to him!
Second game... mutas were spotted... but his mutas gave him a good scout. I think hive into greater spire, cheap... he didn't manage his raoches well, and allwoed terran to move in more, but the muta micro takes too much of darks better apm uses with roaches and ravagers... I think the mutas were okay, but if he went into 6 corruptors and brood lords, woudl of allwoed him to easily get his money worth 2 tanks is basically a brood lord... marine tank is so bad against brood... he had a good size ground army and I thin kthis switch would of used his bank roll better... He paid way to much, teh first push he would of just had 5-6 brood lords... and not the 17 mutas... but that 7 mutats.. initial... he would of had more money in teh end as brood lords for as expansive as people complain, in most games tehy get tehir value worth or more, when used and dark sues them well... and whe nthere is oversurge of tanks, brood lords are always a must or vipers.. one or the other. vipers give more options but its a spell caster, brood lords give you the meet and force out a ghost counter, which can slow down terran, as the tansk will be repalced with thors giving power to the banneling and ling roach avenue... What was his choices... hmm.. possibly going mutas still is like will I fool you etc... 7 is good scouting and fair for early game harass, not a large investment.. but he had tiem for a hive and greater spire... hmmm.. would broods help... I think so...

When gspire is done, immediate broodlords, ( 9: 40 50 for 6 brood lords) (150-150) (900-900) - his mining speed is good.
Would be wort hit? and then losing the mutas (7) and the nusing ravager micro t oslow the assault.... hmm.
10:50 was the turning poitn towards the loss, but having the brood lords out would of really helped out... and coudl of been done wihtout disturbing much of his army as dark was floating substantial money, and cheaper roaches would be better the nteh mutas in teh fight. Staving off burrow would of been a good idea.. for the costs... essentailyl its a 1800/1500 cost for 6 broodlords. early brood lords mixed in with roaches can really help.. a few spores for Z defence, and he was knowing the terran would be pushing in because of hte begining error.

nah, game was over after 16 drone kills and spire scout. Oliveira also played poorly in response, should have switched to widow mine + thor faster instead of massing so many tanks, and go for armour instead of attack upgrades. Even with Oliveira's bad response, he still won, which just goes to show how over the game was after that early game. There's absolutely no way Dark would have survived to brood lords with all the investment of time and resources that would have taken.
do pro players know roughly how much supply their opponent has?
They always do good scouting but yeah, they can almost get a feel for it based on how the battle is going

Yeah, and Dark just plays bad, getting supply blocked and building 9+ overlords at once like every other game. I really don't see him winning another big tournament playing the way he's been playing, there's a reason he's not posting results the past year.

It's sad that swarm hosts went from incredibly balanced vs Terran to somewhat useable to invalid over the years
Honestly their design has been bad for the game from the start, much like the widow mine I wish they'd be replaced by a different unit
Swarm hosts balanced? Lol... It was broken when it was first released. Even after some nerfs, it still was too powerful on some maps that gave the SH a good nydus launching location that is very hard to stop by ground. Especially the time where you can plant multiple nydus at once. SH can never be balanced because it's heavily dependent on the map design which can make it too good or too bad. It's also an annoying unit that is badly designed because of the free units design, you can either get jumped on during the locust cool down and lose instantly or wipe out an enemy base without losing any resources. It's kinda like disruptor, a hit or miss volatile unit it's inconsistent and random. Like you pray your opponent mis micro against your disruptors, you'd pray your opponent is out of position when you use your swarm host.
I use to love using swarm host sneak attacking a base lol
@@skychaos87 You're basically arguing that siege units are unbalanced because they're based on map design. Nerf tanks. And that anything which gives siege units mobility is unbalanced. Nerf medivacs. Yes they are like disruptors in that they're hit or miss and that's why they belong in the game and shouldn't have been nerfed. Terran on the other hand have no hit or miss units. Even their most powerful units are tanky as hell.

Winter, I don't know how long it is going to take but; I hope you have something cooked up for when a video finally doesn't meet the likes!
One thing that's pretty obvious though -- Oliveira definitely earned his world champion title -- it wasn't a fluke. I've been watching him since he was still Time where he was good but not great. But watching him duke it out with Dark and handle the curve balls Dark throws out and able to handle split second decisions and handle them well definitely cements him as one of the best players.

Will it? In the last 3 years Serral is 12-0 in maps vs Oliveira, and 8-0 since this year's Katowice. And none of those maps this year were even close at all. I'd bet my house on Serral in a best of 5, the only thing I think would be interesting is exactly how Serral would mop the floor with him.

IMO Dark would be the best player in the world if he could just improve his mechanics. Game 1 was absolutely atrocious from a mechanics perspective, and it's unfortunately pretty typical for Dark. I'm going to use timestamps for the video instead of in-game time: 9 overlords in production at 5:10 is just terrible, honestly would be game-losing in a lot of situations. If Oliveira was doing a sharp timing, he would just be dead. 7 more at 8:24, when it would have only taken 4 to reach max supply (not as bad, but still a waste). Then, from basically 10:55 onwards he's just floating an insane amount of resources, unable to spend them cause he has no larva due to the fact that he is very short on Queens, and doesn't bother replacing them despite having nothing else to spend his money on. Really, really terrible play that no other Zerg can get away with, but Dark is just so good at every other aspect of the game that he sort of gets away with it. Winter says he thinks Dark is the most entertaining player, but I just find his games so painful to watch cause these mistakes are just so, so consistently bad, and yet he somehow never learns from them.
Also, not sure which game proves that mutas are good, are you referring to game 3? Cause that game was super over before mutas ever came out. Overall, this series was pretty uninteresting.

That was incredible.
Our standards for "incredible" are super different. Game 1 was super low level play from Dark, so many awful mistakes but yet he still won eventually cause he was so far ahead all game. Game 2 was over after early game dealt so much damage. Game 3 was over after early game dealt no damage with large investment. And game 4 was a textbook queen walk that was unscouted. Which part of that was "incredible"?

Those mines were really working against Oliveira, they hit his own units more than Dark's. That and using a single zergling to waste their shots makes my wonder why people complain so much about them. I know they can be powerful sometimes but it seems like these guys know to how to defeat them
At this point I we can all assume Ricky is an on purpose distraction unit akin to a nydus network. Anything less is kind of disappointing considering how great of an all time zerg dark is.
No hate on Oliveira but he did looked like a diamond on third game. That strategy rarely work and he died
