- Practice VLOG from Pierre, South Dakota practicing for the Bassmaster Elite Series Event on Lake Oahe.
This event is unique cause it is the first time ever that BASS has traveled to this body of water so we went into this event blind and completely open minded. Watch as the guys break down a new body of water in South Dakota and try to figure our those Missouri River Smallmouth Bass!

Quick question - noticing the Okuma products - if you had to spend your own money - would say yes or no?
One other suggestion for when you guys sit on the back deck and talk “baits” - answer this one - what baits do you buy out of your own pocket that you won’t fish a tourney without.

Meteor? More likely it was hit by a weight while missing a hook set or getting unhung and didn’t crack until later when the temperature changed
I don't think it's a bullet, it looks like a shot from a wrist rocket sling shot, I used to have one when I was a kid. The ammo comes in small pellets, medium pellets, and large pellets, that looks like a medium pellets, they deflect away after they strike a hard surface...it hit your electronics and deflected in the water
Ahhh kinda scary I guess but just someone shooting prairie dogs or targets on shore from a long ways away I’d guess if it just cracked the screen .. highly doubt someone was close and trying to injure or kill
I've been "shot at" on Lewis and Clark Lake (3 reservoirs down from Oahe). Heard the bullet zing over my boat, courtesy of "Farmer Jones". Told police. Jacob, it was nice meeting you at Pierre on day 4, and great job on your seventh place here and a super 2018 B.A.S.S. season. Come back!

Either a small caliber bullet or it could have been a small meteorite. Either one is just as likely in my opinion. Did you find anything at all in the boat?

You need to make one whole video of the guys rigging tackle and sitting around yakking and joking around. We see to much fishing videos and that end of video was more entertaining.
rangerbull 100% the fishing is great but the behind the scenes with friends and family is equally as good.

If that was a bullet that hit that even a 22 it would have messed the display up. I bet you hit it with drop shot weight by accident, idk though
Drawing back to cast and hit it with a drop shot weight maybe?
If you still have the unit you should make a video and shoot it with a .22lr at 150 yards to see if looks the same.
Could you have possibly hit it while making a cast? You know how sometimes you make a cast with a little too much line out and hit the side of the boat.

Prairie dog hunting is big in south dakota, could have been a stray bullet from that which makes sense why the hole in your unit is fairly small because they typical use smaller calibers for prairie dogs.

We fish that lake for Walleye in early June. Absolutely beautiful and insane for smallmouth bass.
Is that place even safe to fish? And are people there not friendly? This is very scary!
That handle on the right is so awkward to me lol I just can't do it on spinning gear. Then some guys talk about only using right handed baitcaster then use left hand spinning reels
I'm a weirdo I have LH and RH baitcasters but my spinning reels have to be LH, and I'm naturally right handed...

I fished in this lake before, and will the summer of 2019. You want to be in 7 to 15 ft for the good ones. Too deep, and it will be harder to catch. Same thing with being to shallow. Then again, I troll. I dont cast unless we think a Northern or Musky is near.

Loved the last part with you all cutting up!! Wish you would add more footage, if you have it, of you catching during those last two days of practice. You can make time for it to be added by cutting back on the monologue or, better yet, add that during the fish catching part. JMO. Love your videos, so let's blow this up and make you another serious income stream for that beautiful family! Keep up the good work!

Busting out them new Okuma rods! Let's fish together in the Off season. Love these Vlogs man, what's your go to bait for ultra clear 40ft visibility for Smallies? Water is 80° here and Smallies cruising the shallows 4-6ft. They're out in 20ft on a boat here but they cruise around so much cause its gravel bottom with some vegetation. The rocky points with shaded sides on a clear day you'd think they would be on the rocks in the shade but nowhere in sight. They can be tricky. I pitched a hairjig in a tree in a foot of water, a 3lb largie and about 1 pound smallie came out fast and smallie nailed it. Never seen the largie again. This was shore fishing. And your cracked Lowrance? Hard to tell from video what it could be. You'd think DC would be loaded with tackle?

Wow Jacob! That is crazy. Definitely a projectile of some type. Looks like a BB or a pellet. Then again, could be a low velocity 22, but you would think that would go deeper into the unit. And the fact that there are no houses or anyone around, makes it even more a mystery. And like others have said, thank God it did not hit you in the head… Guardian angel!
I hear alot of pro's talking about how much TIME is spent rigging and re-rigging rods - with the money you're making why not pay to have someone do that for you if it's such a pain/stresser ? would leave you more time to focus on other things, or spend time with your family, etc
I personally wouldn't trust anybody to rig my stuff. That's for each person to do there own way. I tie a knot my way, I spool up my way, I want all my hooks put on my way. Just sayin that's probably why. I just fish jackpot night tournaments and I want to do my own stuff I can only imagine fishing for the money they are
