    Liked the hori hori knife Cliff, looks a useful tool for the garden for chopping stalks etc off the likes of cabbages. Leeks and other veggies but I guess you have to watch out for your fingers! 🥴. We have had a couple of nice warm days but now we’re heading back into very cold conditions, never mind hopefully summers not too far away now 🤞, anyway take care and keep safe and I’m looking forward to the next episode! 👍

      Thanks David, yes I have found the hori hori knife very useful, not cut myself with It yet lol. We are also having had a couple of cold windy days, after the 20c few days. Mind you It's Easter bank holiday normal weather. Take care regards from us both.

    I love Hori Hori knives, they are so useful for digging and sawing off roots (if you still have the serrated edge that is🤣) I was so glad to see one well used and cared for.

    Lovely video, Cliff. Do let us know the results of the PH tests. I was of the belief that PH can fluctuate depending on type of rain, soil activity/temperature. Once the soil warms up, so will PH. No idea if that’s true, though.
    Also, can you remind us where you got your under trays from. I recall you mentioned them either last year or year before. They look solid and jolly useful.
    Take care, both.

    • @CastleHillGarden
      @CastleHillGarden  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanka Amanda.. we have had no decent rain for a few weeks and the ground is very dry, I think this does affect the PH as I got different readings on the same piece of ground. But will let you know the results as will test a few times. The undertrays I got from Ikea, they are actually boot and shoe trays very tough. Enjoy your week regards Cliff.

    • @amandar7719
      @amandar7719 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hello, Cliff and Diane! Blessings from Montana. Great to see how you are potting some things up, we are not quite there with the starts we've got in the greenhouse but we do have a few things coming along. Still no work outside, we had snow again this morning and pretty chilly today we won't make 40F after being 65F yesterday. Springtime in the Rocky Mountains is so unpredictable. I need to get some bone meal on the raspberries, our garlic still hasn't begun to grow but, the rhubarb is popping up. What do you feed your rhubarb? I'm looking forward to seeing your goji berries we tried those when we lived in western Washington but they only had a couple of years before we moved.

    • @CastleHillGarden
      @CastleHillGarden  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Tim, yes your weather sounds very unpredictable, hopefully things improve soon. I feed my rhubarb as soon as It starts to grow, the rhubarb needs nitrogen in the spring. I use dried blood as Its 13% nitrogen, use what's available at your end and give a good dose. Thanks for watching regards from us both.

    Lovely video Cliff lots of information and tips, have you got any tips on how to germaite celery, basil and parsley seeds I just dont seem to be able to start them off any advice would be great

    • @CastleHillGarden
      @CastleHillGarden  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Lesley.. celery and parsley prewarm and dampen compost, set seeds on the surface press them in but don't cover and keep warm. Basil pre moist warm compost, set seed and cover to the depth of the seed. Best to do in small pots as they don't transplant well regards Cliff.

      Hi Stewart we were given a packet of white strawberries last year, they took so long to grow I gave up with them. Be prepared they do take a long time regards Cliff.
