Yes, but also many people don't realize that throwing biodegradable materials into the landfill is not good. Landfills don't contain the proper microorganisms to break down. I really don't mind taking the ring off bottles and washing the containers, but I really never knew about these specificities when I learned (accurately I thought) about reducing, reusing, and recycling.
There are many different kinds of plastic. Each has different properties, and they must be separated before they can be reused. The lid of your bottle is a different plastic than the bottle itself. Instead of dealing with plastic bottles at all, I would encourage using aluminum cans or reusable bottles for drinks. Aluminum is one of the easiest things to recycle.

Maybe there are some materials but not enough to be a solution. Real solutions would be too expencive and unpopular. There is no hope for the planet or us, so we can all just chill while we're here
biodegradable means it's degrade naturally, and some plastic do, just in a very very long time. and that's where the problems comes. that terms often misused by companies. the most effective way is just lessen single use of plastic along with recycling the ones already around
Lindsay Smith did you know the paper cup in coffee shop needs way longer time to degrade instead of plastic cup ? All those inner paper cups that being used for drinks are coated with wax (petroleum wax to be exact) and the wax makes them so hard to degrade
But if you do use biodegradable materials, you have to make sure that they go to composting. Bioplastic don't biodegrade on their own for decades, they still land up in landfills and oceans as solid plastic. And in New York, for example, most neighborhoods still don't have composting bins. If we want to go in that direction, waste management systems should also catch up quickly.

I visited Japan a couple of years ago and I must say their methods for recycling are borderline perfect. By law, they’re required to remove all labels from plastic, glass, and metal. Then everything is sorted by color and material. For example a green glass bottles would be placed with other green glass bottles. Furthermore, plastics of the same type and color were also separated. It was a bit tedious and time consuming at first but I quickly caught on. I think that should be the law here in the U.S.

I cannot watch the video you link as it is not available in the US. I did find another one where Trevor does talk about Duterte's comments about God but it is pretty mild.
Another video I found is by Colbert who has a similar animosity toward Trump. In the video he mentions Trump calling Duterte about his drug war and congratulating him or something. What is interesting here are the comments Denouncing Colbert by Filipinos. th-cam.com/video/X9yBp6bjXeY/w-d-xo.html
You are right this video is more about Duterete's response to trash and not about his drug war. Also the the comments here by Filipinos show they love what Trevor said about Duterte. He made him look good. Since many people outside of Phillipines may not be aware of his dictatorship he could have thrown in a side joke to make people aware. Given the serious nature of Duterte's drug war, making him look should have been avoided.
My point is with all Trevor's animosity for some aspect of the West and especially Trump, he could have informed us that Duterte isn't so cool despite his bombastic response to Canada. It is all about how he frames the topics. There are always multiple layers and jokes so he could have slipped in something about Duterte not being such a great guy after all.

You may have gotten tired of it but thanks to an old supervisor, I learned how to properly recycle. Had she felt the same as you I would have continued to improperly recycle thinking I was doing the right thing. Hopefully you continue to educate others instead of allowing their ignorance to continue.
@@TahtahmesDiary you are right, that's why I mentioned the need for a social movement.

I didn't know about removing the things from the plastic bottles! Why isn't that taught anywhere?
Check your local recycling pick-up's rules. Mine says to leave caps on plastic bottles when you throw it in the recycling.
Japan does it
Beacuse recycling is gay. Only hippies do that stuff.

The answer is using more biodegradable materials. Stuff that breaks down way faster then plastic
unfortunately, most of the biodegradable materials are just a myth, look up the truth about biodegradable plastic bags and see what I mean.
But all these biodegradable wastes can excess too many greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. The only possible solution : USE REUSABLE EQUIPMENT
OMG LOL Grand Reception! Look at the guy on the side laughing. Lol 😂🤣😂

Most? Not by a lot. Japan and Korea made a lot of technologies we use today.
What are you talking about? There are plenty of solutions. You think the Chinese invented recycling plants? No. There are many in the US. It’s just that China offered more for the materials. Once there’s demand for domestic recycling plants, they will come online very quickly.

Unfortunatly not that easy. Glass recycling is way more energy en ecological demanding than PVC. Unless you bring back the bottle as a whole to the right reseller. Which only happens with the big brands like coca cola and such.
I agree with this. I'm not quite old enough to fully recall, so my memories are vague, but when they had machines where folk could put the glass bottles in and get some change back...the streets were much cleaner. From turning on a lamp to toothpaste to the OJ you drink, to your shoelaces, every little thing - it adds up fast! Next go down your list, and ask yourself if you know where each product was made, where the materials were sourced, how it should be properly disposed of when you're done with it, if it even *can* be properly disposed! American consumerism is designed to provide convenience in our lives and to brush aside the consequences.
