But I think the fact that first names are always used when speaking about something personal is interesting. And in this case, Matt says Sylvie instead of Brett to Severide. It was a subtle choice but I think quite a significant one.
Brett brings out a different side of Casey, they belong together. it's so beautiful we are literally witnessing Casey fall in love with her before our eyes but he doesn't want to rush it because of everything Brett is going through. ughhh I love them together

So Casey's body language actions do not match his words. That was the first thing I noticed when he was talking to Brett.
Dawson made a selfish decision as she previligated her professional career to the detriment of her love for Matt. Dawson doesn't deserve Casey. So long live Brett and Casey!

I get that she had to be written off the show somehow but do we really think that Gabby would leave the love of her to do relief work??? It's a noble cause but i mean come on!! These two went through SO MUCH just to be together. I really don't like how they made her out to be the bad guy in the end as she was making a lot of selfish decisions. At least Shay had a good memory after being written off - unlike Gabby who is now the woman who broke Matts heart. ANYWAY. At this point I don't mind Brett & Casey they are cute and have good chemistry but I don't think their love story has the staying power that Dawsey did. I hope they get together, i think they are right for each other. I loved Gabby and Matt, i really did, i was cheering for them as most of the fans were. And they were good together, and they worked, but i feel like that has come to an end. I don't think they would work together anymore. They have both changed anf ultimately i don't think they want the same things anymore. Plus Gabby made some pretty important decisions by herself, decisions that include Matt, and that was something she shouldn't have done. After the last episode, i feel like they finally had closure, and i think they are finally going to go their own ways and find happiness. Just my opinion

I don't think I have it in me to get invested in any romance in the Chicago franchise. I mean, as soon as you get invested, it gets taken apart, for any number of reasons. Linstead, Dawsey, Burzek, Brettonio etc... and the list goes on. So I'm kind of waiting and watching. I'm not 100% sure if the writers will put these two together. Similar thing is happening on PD with Upstead and I have the same attitude with that relationship as well.

I'm on the fence about this one. In the season premiere you can see Brett is worried about Casey and then in episode 2 Casey gives Brett the note from Dawson. If it had started there with two hurt people trying to comfort each other and having it evolve into something more it might have made sense. But Casey and Brett weren't seen together until months later when she decided to go apartment hunting for him. Instead he ended up with Naomi and Brett with Kyle. But again it might have made sense if after Casey was almost killed and Kyle dumped Brett it started off as just two friends comforting each other. But no. Fast forward a few episodes and Casey is making heart eyes over Brett because Brett is good with children and then Brett's friend is saying you two are MFEO and then Kyle is back with an out of the blue proposal. What could have been a beautiful love story felt rushed. And worse cliched. And the thing is Jesse Spencer and Kara Killmer are great together. I wouldn't mind seeing Brett and Casey in a relationship but not like this.
Sarah Brown they shouldn’t be in one together in the first place. Why can’t the show have him single or let him have many failed romances until Gabby returns for one more episode?
@@IWantToMature85 If you read between the lines of what the showrunner has said Casey will just go from failed romance to failed romance until either Jesse leaves or the show is cancelled and Monica returns to reunite Dawsey. That's mostly why I'm on the fence about this one. It's hard to invest in a relationship if you know what the endgame is. Plus the only story they've ever told for Brett has involved her hooking up with someone and Kara Killmer deserves so much better.
You are completely right... it's been way too subtle till the last four episodes of the season. Seems to me that the writers wanted to test them but weren't quite sure to take that direction, perhaps also because they had to give time to both characters and viewers to let Dawson go. This is how I feel about it but I also agree with your point of view... Brett and Casey relationship could have been written better last season. Fingers crossed for this new one!

@@kaylascham3137 The problem is with it happening at the end of the season is they could have a time jump from the end of last season taking place back in May and them picking up this season in September. So all that we know they could get married off screen during the summer.

Carla Hudson Agreed. Olivia said Casey and Brett were made for each other. Kidd and Foster agreed with that in the next episode. I find it hard to believe that all this chemistry would disappear next season like it never happened. That's messed up.

I hope they get together, i think they are right for each other.
I loved Gabby and Matt, i really did, i was cheering for them as most of the fans were. And they were good together, and they worked, but i feel like that has come to an end. I don't think they would work together anymore. They have both changed anf ultimately i don't think they want the same things anymore. Plus Gabby made some pretty important decisions by herself, decisions that include Matt, and that was something she shouldn't have done. After the last episode, i feel like they finally had closure, and i think they are finally going to go their own ways and find happiness.

I don't think I have it in me to get invested in any romance in the Chicago franchise. I mean, as soon as you get invested, it gets taken apart, for any number of reasons. Linstead, Dawsey, Burzek, Brettonio etc... and the list goes on. So I'm kind of waiting and watching. I'm not 100% sure if the writers will put these two together. Similar thing is happening on PD with Upstead and I have the same attitude with that relationship as well.

I’m sorry but I can not see Brett and Casey together. Brett was Dawson’s best friend, it’s one thing to date your friends ex boyfriend but it destroys the sister code if you date their ex husband. Why does the show want to pare her as a replacement for everyone anyway? First she was a replacement for Shay for severide, now she’s a replacement for Gabby for Casey

I'm on the fence about this one. In the season premiere you can see Brett is worried about Casey and then in episode 2 Casey gives Brett the note from Dawson. If it had started there with two hurt people trying to comfort each other and having it evolve into something more it might have made sense. But Casey and Brett weren't seen together until months later when she decided to go apartment hunting for him. Instead he ended up with Naomi and Brett with Kyle. But again it might have made sense if after Casey was almost killed and Kyle dumped Brett it started off as just two friends comforting each other. But no. Fast forward a few episodes and Casey is making heart eyes over Brett because Brett is good with children and then Brett's friend is saying you two are MFEO and then Kyle is back with an out of the blue proposal. What could have been a beautiful love story felt rushed. And worse cliched. And the thing is Jesse Spencer and Kara Killmer are great together. I wouldn't mind seeing Brett and Casey in a relationship but not like this.
Sarah Brown they shouldn’t be in one together in the first place. Why can’t the show have him single or let him have many failed romances until Gabby returns for one more episode?
@@IWantToMature85 If you read between the lines of what the showrunner has said Casey will just go from failed romance to failed romance until either Jesse leaves or the show is cancelled and Monica returns to reunite Dawsey. That's mostly why I'm on the fence about this one. It's hard to invest in a relationship if you know what the endgame is. Plus the only story they've ever told for Brett has involved her hooking up with someone and Kara Killmer deserves so much better.

You are completely right... it's been way too subtle till the last four episodes of the season. Seems to me that the writers wanted to test them but weren't quite sure to take that direction, perhaps also because they had to give time to both characters and viewers to let Dawson go. This is how I feel about it but I also agree with your point of view... Brett and Casey relationship could have been written better last season. Fingers crossed for this new one!
