  • www.naturalbrea... Michelle's left nipple is so sore, she's pumped only on that side for 2 days. A switch from cross-cradle to a Natural Breastfeeding position greatly improves her comfort. For more, see www.naturalbrea...

    I’m on baby number 5 and have had very few issues previously but this little girl has struggled. This has lead to excruciating pain, clogged ducts, and mastitis. Thank you so much for these videos. I put her on while watching and there’s already a difference. Our world needs more women like you to help us mamas.

      Christina Drake, I'm delighted that you found this approach helpful! A brand-new study found that if all new mothers used this approach, it could reduce by half nipple and breast problems. These videos are invaluable. I’m a face yoga instructor and correct breast feeding appears really similar to correct tongue posture in later life. My head is exploding with how interesting this is!

    Do you have any videos or information on baby not opening mouth wide enough to latch ? No matter what I do she doesn’t open wide enough and only gets the nipple which you know is extremely painful!

    • @NancyMohrbacher
      @NancyMohrbacher  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, we do. In these positions, baby does the latching, and when her chin bobs against the breast, this triggers a wide-open mouth. Take a look here: th-cam.com/video/d8SI4XKkOl8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=K1_ZbXZgXsyQd-CB

    Awesome videos. Love the basics. I must admit ...mom looks like she is in a slouch position and doesnt look very comfortable.
    But I love these new concepts. Thank you two very much and moms too.

      Mary Rankin, so glad you like it. Actually, the mom was very comfortable. Part of adjusting your body is ensuring you have good support and can relax all your muscles. It's so much less work that the upright positions! You don't have to choose whether to get your rest or feed your baby. You can rest and recover while nursing in these positions.

    Is this technique helpful with mothers who have overactive letdown? I plan to exclusively breastfeed my 2nd baby but I have an overactive letdown

    • @NancyMohrbacher
      @NancyMohrbacher  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Angelica Mangaoang, definitely! Nursing with baby's head higher than the nipple gives baby more control over milk flow. This type of positioning will make it much easier for baby to many your flow. You can learn more about this approach from our longer free video here: www.naturalbreastfeeding.com/

    Your videos just saved my breasts! I was almost ready to give up due to sore nipples (milk blisters and just pain) but with this position I was able to breastfeed with basically no pain and I'm sure once my nipples heal it will be with no pain at all. I still struggle a bit to get him into position, he still fights me a lot (he's 7 weeks old), but with practice I think it will be okay. My other problem is with 20 minutes of breastfeeding he starts to get really fussy and it's hard to maintain him in position. I'll keep trying to improve. Thank you again.

      Hey how u solved milk blister issue. I am facing the same

    • @Malklady
      @Malklady ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Bhawnasays hi! It's been a few years and now I know that using any type of cream on your nipples can increase the chances of blisters, so the best medicine is rubbing your own milk on the nipple after the baby finished feeding. And avoid using tight bras. And in the shower I would let warm water fall on my breasts and gently massage them and let some milk come out until it burst the blister (Wich can be a bit painfull) . If this doesn't help I suggest looking for a professional help. I hope this helps 😊

I been crying all day bcuz I thought my boobs dried up and she wasn't getting any milk, maybe I just had her in the wrong feeding position and she wasn't latching fully

      @@NancyMohrbacher it was, thank you very much. Unfortunately my baby instantly gets sleepy when my nipple is in her mouth, it's euphoric for her, no matter how many times I nudge her awake to eat, she won't. I don't wanna sit for hours all night & day breastfeeding her so I bought a pump and feeding her with a bottle. I will try again when she's a bit older and when her mouth gets bigger for a proper latch

    • @NancyMohrbacher
      @NancyMohrbacher  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@smalltownbeauty2174, it isn't breastfeeding if your baby is not actively nursing. You're right for the moment to pump and ensure your baby is getting what she needs. But please don't give up on direct nursing! With good milk intake, most babies perk up quickly. Also, once your baby gets the nipple far enough back in her mouth to trigger active sucking, she will do fine. When babies fall asleep quickly, this is usually a sign they are on shallowly. I suggest meeting with an IBCLC to see if adjusting the latch helps. Exclusive pumping is no fun and take way more time than direct nursing when baby is doing their part. Best of luck!!!!

    My baby is 11 days olds, I'm struggling to get a deep latch, initially I put him on bottle feed cause of painful nipple. Flat nipple,lumpy breast, and his tongue tie which was released yesterday are among my problem. I can hold him properly because of wrist pain, about to give up on direct feeding. I want to try this position

    How can I relieve milk blisters?

    • @NancyMohrbacher
      @NancyMohrbacher  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      thidaloeung Milk blisters are usually caused by a shallow latch, which leads to greater pressure on the nipple tip. Try these positions as a first step, as gravity helps baby get on deeper. If that doesn't resolve your problem, it's time to see a board-certified lactation consultant. You can find one near you by putting in your zip or postal code on the "Find a Lactation Consultant" page here: www.ilca.org Best of luck!

    I have been told that toughening you the nipple before the baby is born was helpful. I wish I was told this.

    • @NancyMohrbacher
      @NancyMohrbacher  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Carenna Willmont, that is actually not true. While nursing, our nipples never get calloused like a guitar player's fingers. What matters is how deeply the nipple goes in baby's mouth. As I describe in this video, when the nipple reaches the "comfort zone," as I call it, there is no more friction and pressure. For most, the key to nursing comfort is a deeper latch.
