As someone who recently finished Marineford and actually cosplayed Ace, this intro gives an entirely different feeling before and after what happens. Before is filled with hope but anxiety, after is just depression, they tried so hard man, along with a buildup of like 100 episodes
Same And the fact that they actually saved him just to be killed 2 episodes later. The whole situation is downright depressing. Luffy fought so damn hard to save his bro.
Impel Down & Marineford was really heartbreaking Luffy raided it alone(technically) and was very close to level 6 but was a moment late then went to marineford with probably a hundred prisoners and finally saved ace but you know what happened next 😔😔 it just shows no matter how hard you try,if it isn't meant to be then it won't
it's also that defeat is an obstacle you have to face when you want to get stronger. theres always someone wholl be above you so if you want to be able to be strong enough to beat them you have to be strong enough to take the consequence of being beaten. without knowing true defeat one can never really achieve the strength they aim to because being able to handle a loss so big is literally one of the hardest things that require the most strength ever

Based on his characteristics, it was indeed realistic for him not to run away simply(exactly like Roger) and leave Whitebeard behind. He just couldn't do so, no matter what. And just like that, the rest of the story makes sense; he died to protect Luffy from Akainu. Basically, THIS WAS THE REASON HE DIED; protecting his little brother. Not to mention Oda had to remove Ace from story anway since it could've been weird having Luffy as the king of the pirates instead of Roger's son...his death also led to all the current changes and Luffy's character development. It was something that must've happend 💔
Ace was such a powerful and impactful character to my young mind that he will be ever be immortalized, fiction or not. An outstanding and charismatic child who yet still questioned if he deserved to live, and found his answer loud and clear at his execution. "Why are all these fleets and prisoners coming to save someone like me??". One of the most painfully sad scenes was when he was kneeling in tears before Whitebeard, who's only words were to ask him if he had been a good father. Ace saw what it means to stand up for those you love, and he did exactly that when Akainu insulted Whitebeard. 😢 Live your life with no regrets. Die with a smile and everything is said and done, despite everything. Stand by your convictions. Stand by those you treasure in life and stand up for them even when everyone else calls you a dumbass. Grow stronger so no one steps on the freedom of you and those you love
I’ve been spoiled Marineford but even still this opening gets me emotional. Like another comment said, the song is like an emotion itself and the overwhelming feeling that comes with it is so genuine. I can’t even put into words how it made me cry when I first watched it, knowing that this pictured a farewell that Luffy would never get with Ace. The song itself was beautiful too, and captured the grief in the story so perfectly.
The fact the lyrics actually match whats shown (luffy being crybaby - the C in Aces tattoo, chasing after another's back trying to become stronger, not wanting to lose what matters to you) and what actually happens at marineford... man this is easily the best OP opening in my opinion. Hits me in the feels pretty hard. Might not be the best SONG thats been in an opening but its the best opening overall. (hard to compare it to we are, so i guess other than that)

Bro, I just finished this arc a few days ago and Wow, it hit me really hard. I started crying the first time this opening showed up and only stopped when the arc came to an end. What a powerful arc this is, in so many ways, so many levels, and it destroys you emotionally

This song not only hits me hard because of the loss of ace but also cause when I got to this part in my journey of one piece I lost someone that was dear to me because of a horrible situation- they didn’t die but that loss still cut deeply along with this part of the story- it reminds me of both

Ace saw what it means to stand up for those you love, and he did exactly that when Akainu insulted Whitebeard. 😢 Live your life with no regrets. Die with a smile and everything is said and done, despite everything. Stand by your convictions. Stand by those you treasure in life and stand up for them even when everyone else calls you a dumbass. Grow stronger so no one steps on the freedom of you and those you love

I’ve been spoiled Marineford but even still this opening gets me emotional. Like another comment said, the song is like an emotion itself and the overwhelming feeling that comes with it is so genuine.
I can’t even put into words how it made me cry when I first watched it, knowing that this pictured a farewell that Luffy would never get with Ace. The song itself was beautiful too, and captured the grief in the story so perfectly.

白ひげの『さぁ～行こう～』のタイミングで空間殴る瞬間に鳥肌たったのと、チラッと右にイゾウ見えて泣いた。
The fact the lyrics actually match whats shown (luffy being crybaby - the C in Aces tattoo, chasing after another's back trying to become stronger, not wanting to lose what matters to you) and what actually happens at marineford... man this is easily the best OP opening in my opinion. Hits me in the feels pretty hard. Might not be the best SONG thats been in an opening but its the best opening overall. (hard to compare it to we are, so i guess other than that)

このあたり急にシリアスな雰囲気のオープニングが2連続いたイメージ。そのせいかウィーゴーの時に謎の安心感と感動があった。ていうか大体ジャンプアニメって何年か修行したらタイトルにZだの疾風伝って付け加わったりするからワンピースも「ワンピース2」とかタイトル変わるのかと思っていた。

Bro, I just finished this arc a few days ago and Wow, it hit me really hard. I started crying the first time this opening showed up and only stopped when the arc came to an end. What a powerful arc this is, in so many ways, so many levels, and it destroys you emotionally

This song not only hits me hard because of the loss of ace but also cause when I got to this part in my journey of one piece I lost someone that was dear to me because of a horrible situation- they didn’t die but that loss still cut deeply along with this part of the story- it reminds me of both

ぱぱがワンピース大好きで、私はまだアラバスタ（アニメ）で止まってるんですけど（笑）、このオープニングはずっと印象的で、まじであんまり見たことないのにエースが、ってなったとき大泣きしました笑
そして今改めて聴きにきた理由は、阪神タイガースの椎葉選手の登場曲で、イントロ流れた瞬間鳥肌立つから、甲子園で聴いたらほんと泣いちゃうだろうなと思って耐性つけにきました笑、
