Kebu - Roland SE-02 Demo

- I was fortunate to get my hands on (at the time) Scandinavia's only Roland SE-02 synth for a few days. So I took some time to try it out and hooked it up to a Boss RV-500 reverb unit. It's a really lovely sounding analog synth!
The sounds were recorded straight from the SE-02, through the RV-500. No additional processing was used (except for some EQ where mentioned).

Roland should send you an extra synth for free. Your demo is better than what they had advertised.

Who do you think made the patterns ? composers and musicians, he may be part of the team, and with that much subscribers, not only the gear is free, but may also be payed for the videos, and I would like to see a talented performer reviewing a gear.

Best demo of someone actually playing the unit. Kebu is one of the best recent masters of live synth playing. If only he would tour the USA, even if he had to open for someone.
Once again: size doesn't matter. This little one is just GREAT! (in good hands of course). Love the sound!

Nice demo. I love the Behringer Model d, but the SE-02 sounds pretty sweet as well. :) Oh well, I guess I'll have to try both out and see which one sounds the best to my ears. I love your demo. Keep up the great work and thanks for the inspiration. :) Sam

This Se02 sounds amazing. Man, I wish they would build a 6 voice and slap 61 keys on it.
You can chain 6 SE-02’s and control them from 61 keys midi board.

Are you playing over pre-recorded tracks in a DAW, or is the SE-02 capable of playing both a stored sequence and a melody at the same time? Sorry, I'm new to synths and am thinking about buying this model as my first synth. Great video, thanks.

I can't imagine it's multitimbral. The video shows multiple shots so I'm assuming it's all recorded separately

I see you have the boss reverb unit, I was thinking of buying it today. do you use a separate delay unit or is the boss serving a dual purpose as reverb and or delay in your use? I am not sure weather to buy a separate dd7 as well.
If I remember correctly, I think I used the RV500 only for reverb in the video and used the built in delay of the SE-02. The RV500 has built-in delay that you can use in conjunction with the reverb, so you could start with using only the RV500 and first when you have become familiar with it consider whether you need a separate delay or not.

I don't know anything about synths but I could (and I did) listen to this demo again and again because it sounds so damn tight.

Yes, it should be possible, because the knobs send MIDI CC, which can be assigned to most virtual instruments.

I just recently pick one up used for 290$ with the keyboard and i must say this goes toe to toe with my 1000$ Moog Grandmother (maybe even more as it as way more features). It's a little Minimoog on steroids!

Really well played demo! Yesterday I was at the music shop and I saw one unit on the shelf. They did not have a demo unit to try and I managed to keep myself from buying one, barely. I have had doubts about the playability of that small keys but you prove it is possible to play really nicely.
This is cool, should you run the boutiques like the jp08, jx03 or ju06 through some sort of effects unit like your RV-500 ?
which lfo parameter is getting tweaked at the start of the video? tried making something similar with serum but i just cant figure out which knob is comparable to what you did in this video. In Pictures all i could see that it says "osc" with numbers from 0 to 10...
