in this scene, Leon's act is so fatherly
I also think Mathilda is confusing romantic love with parental love, because she never got that from her Father. Leon’s caring for her like a daughter, so she thinks she’s IN love with him, rather than just the love a daughter has for her Dad.
Meth Monkey exactly ! and leon unequivocally says stop every time
@@sillynelson1 They just love each other, in a pure way, but there is love in this movie.
"AND STOP SAYING OK ALL THE TIME. OKAY ?"
"OK"
"GOOD"
I have watched this movie several times and find the way the relationship between Leon and Matilda develops very moving. It skates along the edge of being uncomfortable, without ever becoming so. The fact that Natalie was so young when this film was made is mind-boggling. It was quite simply the best acting I have ever seen. I have always been a fan of Jean Reno, and this ranks as his best film in my oipinion.
Her performance with Kevin Spacey in The Usual Suspects and Al Pacino in The Godfather movies are my all top favs.
It slightly skips the line over to uncomfortable in a couple of scenes to me but it rides the line so well that it's incredibly compelling
have you ever seen Man On Fire with Denzel Washington and Dakota Fanning? It also develops a very special relationship between an older man and a very very young girl, without the uncomfortableness. Dakota Fanning was even younger than Natalie when she filmed Man On Fire, extremely impressive acting from Dakota. It's one of my favorite films directed by Tony Scott, the Rotten Tomatoes score for it is not to be trusted.
@@janetuss6496 Never seen the film, or heard of Ms Fanning, but admire Denzel W enormously, a marvelous actor. Thanks for the tip, I’ll certainly look for the film. Leon was a marvelous film, and I am also a great admirer of Jean R.
@@billfromgermany no WAY 😲 I'm sure you know of Dakota Fanning if you see her face, maybe you just don't recognize her name. Dakota is like Natalie, they were both famous for great childhood acting.
One year after Man On Fire came out, Dakota was in War Of The Worlds with Tom Cruise (directed by Steven Spielberg), she played a major role as Tom Cruise's daughter.
When she was 7, she was in the film I Am Sam, starring with Sean Penn. She was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award for her role, and Sean Penn was nominated for a Best Actor Oscar for his role.
I think more recently Dakota was in Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
And yes, really hope you check out Man On Fire! Denzel is excellent, I think he's marvelous too. And don't know if you know, but the director Tony Scott is the brother of Ridley Scott (who directed Gladiator, Blade Runner, Alien, etc.). Tony Scott liked to work with Denzel a lot, they did Man On Fire, Crimson Tide and many other films together.
This is her best role to this day. OK.
1:03 till end, bgm score : excellent
Dialogues: superb
Comical: yes
Even Natalie and Jean's performance in that scene outstanding.
Stern and protective. Exactly how a father is supposed to be... Unfortunately she never received that from her biological father so she ended up mistaking it for romantic love.
When I watched this movie years ago...I thought this was a great and one of the best movies of all time. But I never heard people mentioning this movie even when they were talking about a similar genre. Glad to see everyone appreciating this masterpiece.
This movie is fucking FLAWLESS
there is one tiny little flaw though, the scene where Léon screams to the ceiling near the end and the camera zooms in on his face "like a weirdo" haha
Luc Besson's best movie and one of the best movies in the movie history. İ love the acting of all aactors.İ love Jean Reno and Gary Oldman and Natalie Portman.
I've just finished this movie. Excellent, enterntaining and very moving.
So you just had 27 years without knowing it existed ? Glad you found it. Makes an impression on everyone.
The love between Leon and matilda was nicely reflected
0:35 the way she threw the smoke and her face its so cute
awesome movie
Natalie was so superb in this film!
There isn't a single bad scene anywhere in this movie.
Brilliant all around.
Ok?
It’s an interesting scene as there is an odd power dynamic. By accepting everything he says she implies that she’s his girl, pushing him towards the relationship she desires with him.
I think the relationship she desires is for him to be a like the family she never rly had
natalie portman ... all these years sooo great.. and of course Leon.....
I crack up every time i see her little legs going 90 mph to keep up with him walking...🤣🤣
1.3k likes and 0 dislikes after 12 years. Zero. This is amazing. Some good people have passed through here.
Not even a single 👎
Love that! 👍
one of my favorite movies ever easily top 10 🎬
**makes a reference to that guy that says ok vine**
If you really have NOT seen this movie, treat yourself to at least two superb performances ( actually more).....
I am glad there are still movies like this of yesteryear. A lot of todays movies except for a few have no real storytelling of things that happen. The movies of today many are fantasy crap and could never be anywhere near a realistic world. I'm glad for the older movies they have heart, realism, and Hope. Yes they have sorrow as well. Gotta pull on those heartstrings. Loved that movie The Professional. Fell totally for the whole movie. AND of course I believe We All hated the bad guys.
the best movie ever made
The awkward dialog in places lets it down in my opinion, also some things feel rushed and just out of place like him letting her kill with him after very little persuasion. It's a good movie with some great acting, but definitely not the best.
I feel in love with Matilda. 🥰. She played the role so well. 🥰👍
I Love this scene
That’s good !! In the end oh my god Jean reno!!!!
“AND STOP SAYING OK ALL THE TIME, OK!?”
“ok”
“Good”
😂😂😂
before this talk
the exactly moment when the girl shown up in that scene That masterpiece soundrrack fascinated me 💟
Que filme maravilhoso!
This is probably the first video I have seen in my lifetime that got 0 dislikes and that too even after 11 yrs.
In that case I'll leave my comment as it is for the future to know that there were no dislikes for 11 straight yrs.
Btw hate those dislikers. They broke a great record...
I KNEW YOU WERE GOING TO REV ME ABOUT " OKAY " LOL
Leon: "AND STOP SAYING ALL THE TIME OKAY!"
Matilda: okay...
Some of you might be thinking: why is this movie as powerful as the first day and ageless ?
Because that's the difference between a legend and a myth. A legend is a past story, a myth is a story that keeps happening all the time.
The "thing" happening between Mathilda and Leon has been happening countless times between father and daughter since then, and keeps happening today, that's why any new mind who watches the movie today will be remembering those archaic feelings, will be remembering that he or she was , one day, Leon and Mathilda.
Leon: Stop Smoking and stop cursing it's not good Matilda: Ok
MY FAVOURITE MOVIE ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Can you imagine Matilda and little John Connor together as a team?
Though I think Matilda's more street tough than Connor (though he already knows how to load weapons and use them in contrast to Matilda who seems to learn quickly within this movie).
LOL , the attitude on her it's brilliant luv this movie .
PERFECT HAIRCUT FOR THE GIRL
Im happy it doesnt have a dislike
Damm they dont make movies like this anymore!
According to a Natalie Portman's interview, this movie left the public sexualizing her at that young age, her first fan mail from that movie was awful, a "fan" would explain what he will do to her in a sexual way. Hence why a movie like that would never be made again. This exposes our cruel-some face in sexualizing a 12 year old, for what was meant to be a father-daughter relationship.
GOAT!!!
the look he gave him in the beginning
Dats right. Good, good, girl.😅😎🌞☺️
i don't think, in the movie, the walking-the-streets scene immediately follows the 'ok' scene.
Süper number one
What a great movie they dont make em like this anymore
awesome take!!
Just here to leave my like.
Matilda’s expression after each ok is hilarious
This has happened to me before with my dad. Except it was in my room and not the streets (just the "okay" part. I do not smoke or curse. )
questo è quello che definisco eccitante 💧💧💧💧
We can sell pot at the limelight , we can sell cocaine in college
