There is a LOT of bullying, especially in the beginning, but it doesn't come from her "brother." I put that in quotations because I watched it in 2x and skiped quite a bit, so I hope I missed the part where they're not actually related. The bullies get punished, her dad wakes up, she gets engaged, they all live happily ever after from what I can tell.
This drama and all its versions, gives paints such a bad picture of life in this country. It gives the impression to everyone watching, that this is not a good country to live in, unless you are wealthy. Going by these dramas, the poor have no worth outside of being something to be bullied. They have no hope of bettering themselves because the majority of the wealthy are sadistic bullies who take pleasure in abusing anyone they see as being beneath them. It gives the impression there is no hope of bettering yourself, so unless someone wealthy is willing to stand up for you, who have no choice but to be walked on, as otherwise, you are always going to be in the wrong, so there is no use in trying to fight back. I really do not understand why anyone would want to produce dramas like this. It says nothing good about the country it is filmed in. There are other dramas featuring this, they are all over TH-cam

Actually, any sane person watching a bully drama would know it's just that, a drama. It doesn't reflect on all of China, but it is a sad part of the society we live in anywhere in the world. If there's a conflict between the rich and the poor, the poor lose out almost all the time. I've seen dramas from lots of different countries with bullies and gangs and I understand that it's only a minority in reality, because in real life most people, whether rich or poor, just want to live their lives and don't bully people for no reason. Dramas are created to incite emotion in the viewers, the same way people fawn over romantic scenes in romance plots, there are people who watch bully dramas for the revenge scenes. As someone who was bullied as a kid, even if the dramas are a bit exaggerated, the revenge is exactly why I watch bully dramas.
@mx.n.3682 My problem is, with the Chinese dramas, it is usually the females getting bullied, and rarely is it the females who get the revenge, it is their fiance/husband who does. It isn't the same. The ability to make money and stand up for yourself isn't dependent on gender, but these Chinese dramas typically send the message that it is. I was speaking out against all bullying, because the dramas featuring it, never show your average person getting revenge, only the wealthy. Rarely do they even call the bully out on how exactly their behavior is wrong no matter who they are bullying. It is usually because they bullied someone wealthy, or someone close to someone who is.
When a vid starts out with choking, rape, etc, I move on. And there is a lot of that in these vids. It is unfortunate to wrongly portray a culture because, for most of us, that will be our lasting and possibly only perception. I haven't had anyone to ask, so I hope you don't mind a couple questions? I noticed women seem to walk behind, doors aren't opened or held for the other person, car doors aren't opened. It seems folks shake their heads in a way we would mean no, but they seem to mean yes. There are scenes of families waiting in the hall during births whereas here (US) friends and family come and go in the room. And what is with this chemical put in drinks that induce heat & pain that can only be stopped by having sex or a shot at the hospital? Is that a real thing? Is divorce granted in a day by signing a paper? It appears repeatedly that folks, even old folks, have to scramble to pay for healthcare and life saving care is withheld if not paid ahead? The last thing I think of is it seems police are not called as a matter of course. Drugging, kidnapping and rape &/or murder doesn't result in a broken leg or being released back to their family in my country. It means the first call is to the police resulting in years of imprisonment.

Basically, any of these dramas are a satire on Asian society...A cruel satire about bullying, the actors are trying to convey to us what is happening in schools, colleges and companies. .how much pain and injustice ordinary mortals have to endure in order to show their talent and achieve something in life...unfortunately, for some reason, those with capital and power mostly support sadism and sexual violence, the only thing is that employees are forced to go to clubs and bars, where they are forced to drink alcohol...It's all terrible... I really liked the actors who were able to show us all the shortcomings of society. Everyone, without exception, played their roles perfectly, both positive and negative roles.
