    Loved the specimens on show. I’m from South Africa and we allowed to keep exotic reptiles without permits, but indigenous reptiles permits are required. What are the requirements in Australia over keeping reptiles and tarantulas in captivity?

    • @soomiko

      No exotic creatures and need a license for indegenous

    Where can you see what snakes are legal to own in QLD? Thanksss

    • @erikm8372
      @erikm8372 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just answered my own question via google - if it ain't Australian, it ain't legal there! 😂 haha. But interestingly, most of the endemics are legal, & with even the rarer species, you can obtain a permit. I also like how captive breeding and licensing of breeders is the LAW! But I do think qualified people, licensed people, could be able to possess certain species. Just for breeding & conservation reasons even; ensure escape isn't an option, and have the right govt ppl come inspect first. I dunno. It's funny bc so many exotic tropical fish (fresh and saltwater) are all fully legal in Australia. As well as freshwater shrimps, crabs, crayfish and all manner of exotic aquatic plants. Those things are far more easily dumped than herps, in my mind - fish and crustaceans can go into waterways or abandoned in lakes, ponds, or flushed (and survive!).

      I believe you can in the northern territory until 60cm if you wish to keep them you must obtain a special liecense and build a certain enclosure outside with metre deep concrete in the ground and like 2 fences

    𝑽𝒊𝒑𝒆𝒓 𝑩𝒐𝒂𝒔!
    An elegant and underrated species, they are rarely kept- let alone bred.
    A beautiful species that is native to New Guinea and surrounding islands, these primarily nocturnal animals live on the floors of the dense forests of their habitats where they act as ambush predators.
    Named for their viper-esque appearance, these snakes are actually harmless!
    Once feeding, these snakes are hardy captives- proof being in this beautiful LTC female.
    In typical boa fashion, these snakes give live birth. 15-40+ babies may be born at a time.
    How badly do you want to work with this amazing species?!
