Anybody watching this that's struggling to slide the knuckle low enough, here's a tip. You MUST loosen the 4 e-torx at the top of the strut first, ideally take them all out and leave the last one only a few threads engaged. The strut has to pivot in order to have the right angle to slide all the way out. Don't be like me and thinking, "Oh, I'll just remove those last..." Cost me an hour of sweat and swearing. Hopefully I save someone else the same fate. Thanks Kies for this video, all of your how-tos are amazing.
Great content! I’ve seen on the evolve channel that they never take out the front strut to replace the springs. They merely disconnect the knuckle, and unscrew the damper. Then they tilt the strut outboard and pull the spring right off and replace it with the lowering spring.
Amazing vid, amazing car.. I have these exact springs on my f30 and they are amazing. Looking to upgrade to a G20 M340i (non xdrive) in the near future and considering going with the Super Sport springs for that extra sexy look. Keep up the great work Brian!
Hey. I kno options are slim. But for the m340i xdrive. Which lowering springs do you recommend. And a question on top of that. Bc of the adaptive suspension and how good it is. U recommend lowering springs or would u still do coilovers. Love the content. Great videos
Very good work and good explanation how you perform this work. In my opinion, almost all lowering springs take G20 too low. It would be super nice for just 15-20mm lowering. Like M-Sport suspension, but just little bit more. Eibach, H&R etc are "slammed". Not good for poor roads.
In terms of looks, I think almost all of them lower the rear, proportionally, too much. Dinan is perfect 28.5mm front, 19mm REAR. Megan Racing isn't bad either 26mm Front, 25mm Rear. With slightly shorter sidewalls you can compensate for any negative rake.
what changes are made to the adaptive driving controls when you change the ride height from factory? (1st ever BMW so excuse my ignorance here) I have an 2021 M340i Xdrive
You gotta get yourself a spring tool that’s mounted on the wall. You put the strut in & it has a hand crank. You tighten down the spring, take the nut off & take the strut out. Way better/safer than that one. Wall mounted is a lot sturdier & you have a lot more control too…..✌🏻🏁
Help Needed i have a 2021 m340i xdrive a few days ago i got Silvers Coilovers installed and now i have a check engine light with Chassis Stabilization, Cross Traffic Warning and Regenerative Braking Reduced issues.
I remember when I was in high school, we just jack the car up and cut the coils-spring. Quick and easy, But then the car sit so low it drag everything with it. I remember we had to replace an oil pan after we ran across a few speed bumps. 😆
Great video Bryan. I really appreciate what you put out. Question though. How did you find the ride after lowering it? I want mine to look great but I dont want to compensate the ride quality. I know I can go for the coil overs but I'd be happy just go springs if the ride quality wasn't affected. Thanks again! Frank from downunder 🙂
About to do mine! Getting some people telling me that it’s not safe to install on the lift because it’s gonna be too low after the installation but seems like you had no problems, unless if their are, have any tips on getting it off the lift safely?
I considered doing this myself and opted to stick with the stock suspension setup, BMW spends millions $ on research and development to get stuff like this just right for the car and I figured it wasn’t worth messing around with just for that 1” lower look
Go with diff specs of tires like 235 45 19 front and 265 40 19 rear and you will fill void more without loosing comfort drive when you drop it with springs
I installed the springs on my 330e and now having problem with my adaptive suspension. We didn’t disconnect the left rear sensor and now it is giving a false height. I already pushed it straight because it had the wrong angle. Also code in ISTA the new calibration. The fault code is still there. Anyone knows what to do?
Do you recommend changing any other parts of the suspension with doing these springs? I have the same set up on Xdrive and hear a creaking noise at low speeds over uneven roads. Any ideas?
Bryan, first off...your videos are very helpful. Super informative and easy to follow. Keep up the great work. I am getting a G80 M3 and plan to install lowering springs myself. Would you say the method and all the tools required in this video would apply on the G80 M3 as well?
I just purchased a g80 2021 m340I Do they offer a lowering spring kit? Also which spacers are you running with this drop? Looks sick and awesome content. Keep up the great work
Took my M 340i xdrive to the dealer to replace runflats by conventional tires. The guy there told me that I could not do it as the car behaviour and dynamics would be screwed up due to the different suspension set up. I guess they do not have clue...I have seen M340i xdrive lowered by tuners without issues. However how the adaptive suspension works with new springs, will this shorten the life of the shock absorbers?
At 30:17 Bryan says there is a H&R Super sport for the G20. Does anyone have a part number? I cannot find super sports for the G20 at all. Only Sports.
My wheels are 19" and my tires are 235 width.. i have these springs ready to be installed and i have 12mm spacers on them... will i have trouble steering all to the left or right witj a 235 width? Because i see that these are 225
Great video man!! I was wondering if I lower the front suspension of my F15 V8 BMW 2014 would the rear suspension follow the front by itself since it's self leveling?
I did everything you did on the tutorial for the front struts but whatever I did, they don't even budge a millimeter, what do I do? I just gave up after 5hrs
Thats just dumb. You dont have to slam your car. Like i lower mine only about 3cm, and its perfect. I can park and drive normaly. Dont scrape and can work on it. So yea. If you wanna go rly low then air suspension. With springs it would be tooooooo stiff. Bmw i have a f36
@@WasteOfTimeDude depends on the roads, if you drive on highway it s nice but daily through city traffic and bad roads it won t be pleasure to drive it
Hello guys i have a quick question i have a 2021 BMW M340I bone stock the other day i was playing with the launch control and my son notice the boost gauge was boosting over 20lbs i thought stock PSI was lower. I read to different PSI on a BMW forum one it was 8-11 PSI one other person said it was 15.8PSI BUT THEY DIDNT SAY WHAT YEAR M340I THEY WAS TAKING ABOUT
I’ve heard from different people on the forums that the impact isn’t TOO negative on the dampers, but it does cause them to wear a little bit faster than normal. I think it would be pretty tough to measure due to all of the other variables involved. I would count on them wearing out faster than they would on stock springs. Someone smarter than me on this could probably give you a better estimate as to how many less miles to expect out of your stock dampers.
If you wrap the spring in a towel or heavy blanket you can remove it without injury. I'm sure youtube has a video. Not a fan of lowering. Looks good. But not really drivable.

I am having trouble getting front strut out do I have to remove axle and lower control arm
Awesome tip. I was definitely struggling. The knuckle was only halfway off and wouldn't go any farther.
I just watch this whole video... I own a 06 Carolla
🤣
🤣🤣
🤣🤣🤜🏻🤛🏻
I just watched it all too and i don’t even have a car
I own a 98 corolla and i just watched this lol
a couple hours! you're work is amazing, this would take me 2 days to complete all 4 wheels. bravo.
that color on the G20 looks gooooood
In my opinion, this color, dravitgrey, looks totally boring!!! It looks only good in bright sunlight, but not in the dark and at night!
Absolutely agree with you - Found myself looking at the paint more than the lowered car.
Same here! I install eibach spings and add 12mm spacers on all 4 wheels! Another car!😮💪🏻
Very helpfull video, just lowered my g20 with h&r
Dude, your flow is comin in hot

It looks amazing 👏 , this is what the new m3 should have looked like , with the flared arches
Same request here for adaptive suspensions

By far one of my favorite BMW colors, polished out that color is incredible 👌🏻. Kies is the King of BMW 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Perfect video👌🏻 I live vicarious through those who can go low. No go-low for me 😕
I’d love to roll into Kies with my f30 and about 5 grand, go nuts!

Can you elaborate on the "pass through" socket you needed to remove the top hat from the front struts? I don't see those linked anywhere.
You guys are killing it with the tut, keep at broski
Great video was always Brian, I am from Recife in Brazil South America and thanks for sharing…
Will this lower kit work with adaptive set up?

There is a set that lower it .5 inches lower than m sport. I forgot the nMe of the brand

Hey, great vid! Are the torque values the same for a G21?
Love those centre caps, any chance you could put a link for them?? Love your videos.

How do these work with the adaptive M suspension? Also, what wheels are those on the black car behind you?
Will this be the same with the m adaptive suspension?
Looking for the same answer..
@@Pa-hy1te same here as well
H&R, Eibach Sportline and Eibach Pro Kit works for all suspensions: Standard, M and M adaptive.
kies motorsport ftw 🔥🔥🔥
This job is practically identical the the F30 lowering springs job. Good to know.
Do you guys have a link for the special socket that has a hole for the allen key!?
Bryan, do a follow up on this car. I’d like to know how much more it dropped after settling and the way it rides now.
Great video Brian!
Do any codes come up after installation?
Any thoughts of cutting the bump stop? Sort of like Dinan sells.
Good detail and Lots of nice tips (that apply to many other types of work), thank you. Jon

I've heard those bolts that require the extra 90 degree turn are HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to be replaced. How serious do you think it is?
It's what the service manual says to do. The bolts are cheap, so why not? They are torqued to yield like cylinder head bolts.
That went way lower than I expected!! Looks comparable to the H&R super sports on my f30 335i.
H&R always too low and hard in my book. I'd go with Eibach.

I know I can go for the coil overs but I'd be happy just go springs if the ride quality wasn't affected. Thanks again! Frank from downunder 🙂
It's hard for the ride quality to be not affected, usually the sport spring give a stiffer ride
I would also like to know just how much different it rides, how much comfort is sacrificed, and if overall it’s a good change that is worth it.
About to do mine! Getting some people telling me that it’s not safe to install on the lift because it’s gonna be too low after the installation but seems like you had no problems, unless if their are, have any tips on getting it off the lift safely?
Where can i find the E-Manuel with the corque specs?
Espectacular vídeo! Very detailed and instructed information! Thanks
You didn’t add alot of the links in the description
Wow, I felt like this is more work than to swap the turbo.
How much did the whole thing cost?
Does this mod kill the comfort?
I'd imagine it depends somewhat on the spring choice
Great video! Is an alignment needed afterwards?
I have a 2021 M Sport 330i. Debating on if I should lower it. What are the cons to doing this ? Looks sick

Do you recommend replacing any bolts/nuts? Any 1 time use stretch bolts?
What size of spacers are on front and rear ?
3 months to late for me, but at least I know I did it correctly. Car looks amazing
I thought when lowering on springs, you suppose to cut the bump stop, to prevent it from bottoming out?
You can do that if you find you are hitting the bump stops often, not required though
Hey where are the torque specs?
Does this require smaller bump stops?
What size are the bolts that need replacing
What would I expect to pay for a job like this?
Does this still have the 15mm spacers all around? I’m scared of lowering and rubbing with the 15’s
I’d like to know how she drives/handles compared to stock.
What light are you using

does it matter whether or not the car is RWD or AWD for these springs?
what can happen if the bolt of the rear toe arm is tightened with a torque more than 100 nm ?
Would this void warranty?
