Edmond got fame because he had resources to get fame.Norgay lagged behind because he hadn't. The fact is Edmond couldn't have been to the top of Everest without the help of Norgay.

In mountaineering Sherpa's are the main person and without his help, you can't climb mountains. Edmund Hillary couldn't had conquered Mount Everest without "Tenzing Norgay" help. Please note that "Tenzing Norgay has a separate page in Wikipedia. In my opinion he is equally famous as Edmund Hillary.

Tenjing norway, first man to climb mountain Everest
It’s a bit strange and looks rather odd that not many in Pakistan know about Tenzing Norgay a Sherpa of Nepal who along with Edmund Hillary of New Zealand became the first explorers to reach the summit of Mount Everest In 1953. This is documented in all school books in India and Nepal, even a child knows their names. We also have names of the other climbers like for example Italian climbers Lino and Achille scaling the second highest peak K2 in Pakistan for the first time ever in 1954 This is standard curriculum of GK in our schools.
