This was indeed a movie ahead of its time, I recently saw this and expected to be repulsed due to the negative reviews - but it's the most surreal and hilarious film I'd seen in some time. Plenty of aight gags and eeven some deeper wit exists and, despite production issues, there are some subtle moments of cinematic visual cues as well... I think Mae succeeded in stealing the show - she's riotously funny in this and acted the role perfectly. She was a trendsetter as well with films... Definitrly underrated and comes across solid despite it all, it's not an all-time great, but overcame a lot. The teaser had it right.

Mae was threatened by Raquel because she was younger and prettier and in Mae's view,a b@#$&! Raquel felt Mae was an old fossil who wanted her to kiss her derriere,and they both were threatened by Farrah! Mae would say she didn't work with other blondes and ordered Farrah's hair darkened,but then Raquel would erupt and say she was the only brunette in the film and ordered Farrah's hair lightened! Rex Reed sneered in the shadows salivating like a b#$& in heat over all this juicy scandal and John Huston saddled up like a valiant cowboy,said his lines and consoled the despairing Raquel while Sarne muddled around photographing fruit and Farrah cried in her dressing room,and Roger C.Carmel was as wasted in this movie as he was just about every time he didn't play Harry Mudd.You have to love a movie like that.

everything I've heard about Mae tells a story of a smart businesswoman and a pro. Similar to Farrah. Racquel, on the other hand is notorious for being difficult. You can Google 100 stories on her about it. (Imagine the ones they haven't told!) I know of not one other actor that has anywhere near the documentation trail of how difficult they are. Sure Racquel WAS gorgeous, but her personality was horrid. H-O-R-R-I-D!! What a shame.
