when I was new to underground rapping I heard about presets, when I looked them up I instantly seen a ton of gunnr videos and thought they were scams, It took me awhile to realize people think he's legit lmao
yea he taxes tf outta them , i used to enjoy his stuff but all his does is PLUG PLUG PLUG and its like bruh all u need is just one good preset n u tweak it to each song thats it bruh , they all really sound the same fr
I got a free vocal preset, but through over the course of 2 years, I learned things about music and my own voice enough to where the preset I started from is essentially gone. You don't have to be a music genius to listen your own style and taste and adjust to your own liking.
It's not exactly a scam since people sell their actual and "original" preset, they did use that exactly chain they're selling; BUT the thing is like you said, everyone vocals are different, and even the levels does a huge difference for the sound, like if you have a preset with a compressor and the threshold of it its in like -8db and your vocal isn't hitting -8db yet, the compressor will simply be doing nothing. so that's why you just at least learn how to mix and master if you can't afford paying for a professional eng.
Yeah well if the artist’s voice sound like that artist, you use the same mic and outboard gear, and set to the same levels, then you can achieve a pretty close emulation of someone’s sound.
THANK YOU FOR SAYING THIS. OH MY FUCKING GOD. I have my own custom preset for me and me only and I refuse to pay for a [he who shall not be named] preset
I agree with u at a certain point, definitely every voice is different and needs and specific treatment in the mix, but a preset does actually helps as a "start point"
Might as well make your own preset with the basic stock plugins. Been making music for years never needed a preset, start all my projects from scratch. No good reason to waste money.
For new producers and beginners here, he's right BUT presets are not a scam, it's just another way of learning. Please don't think presets are a drag and drop thing, you have to tweak the presets to your own voice and microphone. Use the presets as a starting point and then go from there. Experimenting with different presets can show you different results, tones, and sounds. For people asking how to tweak it, if you're using a gunnr preset (which is one of the most famous types of presets) he has a video about how you can record cleanly, and how you can tweak his presets to your own. I've been making songs for years now and I've always used presets as a starting setting, never as a drag and drop. Now I can mix my own vocals BUT I prefer to use presets and tweak em, it's faster after all.

ur right i agree, but if ur just starting out and dont know sht about mixing, buying that presets with autotune could make u think u can rap.. jus sayin.. yeat started to get obsessed with recording when he found out abt presets
i think the difference with his story tho is that weiland gave him yeat his preset so they he mightve tweaked it for yeat to make it fit yeats voice, unless he jus straight up gave it to him without doing any modifications n yeat went with what he gave him then ur right
Nowhere did I say this is “all you need” I said these are the basic elements of any vocal chain, the rest depends on the song and your voice. You’re purposely misconstruing the point of the video
Worst thing are those Yeat presets lmao. The effect everyone wants is literally just the vocals pitched up an octave combined with a flanger 💀
Yet you set them up with it and they don’t know how to make it sound it good.
that is not Yeats preset lmaooo, he learned how to use WAVES plugins which is what a lot of these kids don't realize they need loool
@@up4s708 absolutely agree because most of these vocal presets are just stock plugins

THANK YOU SO MUCH. gunnrs presets are a huge scam and often sound like horseshit. learn to mix and then make your own preset is my tip
if presets sound horseshit for you, you don't know how to mix 💀 Presets are a time saving start point, not a plug and play type of thing
so do you have a vocal preset of what you just shared? Cause this is pretty cool! I just started learning x
a good mix you shouldn't have too stack vocals too much !!
