I just got done with my first starfinder game, playing a Ysoki Starship Engineer (Mechanic Class, Spacefarer theme) and it was an absolute joy to crush any engineering or computers check that came up. Our ship would come limping up to a salvage site; we'd strip all the salvage and install it on our host ship; then move on to the next location. Such a blast :D
Hmmm... Ysoki Technomancer with emphasis on Electrical damage spells...named Pikachu... or equivalent there of...
I just made a Ysoki stealth character and I've decided that she takes offense to the term "ratfolk" and it will quickly make me go violent. I even told my friends that I might get us into fights that we want no part of if someone calls me a rat
My Character is a Ysoki Mechanic with a Scholar theme but he's basically like the Adeptus Mechanicus from WH40K and Skaven from Warhammer Fantasy
Imagine the skaven from warhammer fantasy in starfinder or the skaven in warhammer 40k
I just made an Ysoki Mechanic Robotocist. Felt it was a good choice, i love my cute little squeaker and think it fits well with the type of happy go lucky nerdy characters I like to play ^_^
The Ysoki are a dream come true. I published a game about hamsterlike magical/technological beings in 2012, and I really love playing similar races in other games. Ysoki are quasi the Michtims in space. Haha. I dig them. Glad to see them in the core product.
Man this is a great video. I created a ysoki mechanic with a new York styler personality. The best part is his name is Tweak because he likes to augment things. Great minds man.
I don't know how the technomancer exactly works but imagine a ysoki pulling a spell item out of his cheeks and firing it from his mouth
For a ysoki mystic, the cheek pouches are amazing for spellgems
I just picked up Starfinder this weekend. I will be GMing. I saw the Ysoki and knew that is what I would play. Looking forward to getting more into the core rulebook and seeing what makes it ticket.
Ysoki Operative, name him Twitch.
personally I'd love to make a ysoki soldier, he'd be a dex build but i see him building plenty of special small arms; grenades, heavy modified projected energy weapons, maybe even trip mines and slug throwers
J Rocket Racoon?
similar yeah, i like the character and his attitude
My Ysoki mechanic is a Vidgame streamer but got into trouble with Kreditcoin fraud (bitcoin) which gives him his outlaw background.
He's very neurotic and s-speaks fast and two two times. The big hulking combat drone is his streaming rig, his mohawk is retroactively the same color as fortnite Ninja's hair color and his name is Twitch ;D
no one's gonna find this but im having so so so much fun in this universe
Ysoki Mechanic named Buttons, has a Saddle on a Combat Drone so he doesn't have to walk.
BUTTONS!
Love it hahaha
That's my exact build, I a even gave him sniper proficiency, and put a rifle on his drone as well.
Hey, Cody, loving this intro series. Could you do one covering weapons and armor, and things like charging your ammo cartridges and comms?
Nice, thanks for the handy Starfinder content so far! Planning to play a Ysoki Technomancer in our first Starfinder campaign, just got the book today.. excited! :-D
My first RPG character ever was a ratfolk illusionist about 3-4 years back, so I have a soft spot for them. So excited that they're back in full force in Starfinder!
I'm struggling right now between a Ysoki Operative with the ace pilot theme, or the Android Mechanic with the Outlaw theme. Both seem like so much fun!
Which seems like the best to "Roleplay" vs "Rollplay"?
They both seem like they'd have a lot to offer in terms of roleplay. It's a tough choice, honestly. The android might have more roleplay potential for me, but I crunched the numbers and at first level when doing a Trick attack, the Ysoki Operative's going to be at a +17, which seems like it could lead to some fun shenanigans at the table. And I do really love playing as a rogue...
Love the ysoki. This is going to a favorite race, just like the android.
Nico, solid race. It seems it may become my favorite too.
Funny you ask about reskin... one of my player is just starting to get into SF as I've been pushing my group to try it. He asked me if he could make a character inspired by Stitch from Lilo and Stitch. I was stoked that the Ysoki was a thing :D Now I'm in the process of calming down his ambitions wanting to have 4 arms and deflect projectile, and making him swallow the pill that a 18 STR at level 1 will mean an average everything else.
Skittermander
Space Rat Folk? Well now I got to watch all of these.
This is the race I am most looking forward to playing nice overview
Flying Doghouse is it so your icon can eat it
Joining my first starfinder game and went with Ysoki Mechanic before watching any guides, it just felt righr. Dart is his name
im REALLY interested in playing starfinder. i keep bouncing between tabletop RPGs and this one has caught my eye for who knows how long (it changes so fast). im definitely being a Ysoki who has grenades in her cheek pouches. just dont know her class yet. ill name her Maniac
Hellhounds20 if you want to use grenades I’d look at either the soldier or mechanic class. I personally like the mechanic
I want to make an ysoki named rat bastard but I'm having trouble deciding between operative and mechanic.
Could multiclass :3
With a name like rat I would say operative
Ysoki soldier, Guns are the great equalizer. ;)
My favorite race so far !
i forsee quite a few Rocket Racoon wanna-be in the future
I'm making one bases on Rattrap from Beaswars
Sounds like a pretty decent place to start while learning the universe.
I am more excited about the Ysoki now.
I’m in the middle of building 2 an Operative and a Techomancer Op is Bochand aka Sharp he will be a sniper and the Tech will be Waste from his flavored fire spells that are “cold” fire spells which will be blue instead of red. Waste comes from “A Frozen Wasteland”
Some of my group aren't liking the Ysoki right now, but I am hoping they will grow to like them.
at least you have a group to play with!
lol. Very true. And they put up with me wanting to play a Space Goblin Mechanic. XD
first. I like these race videos Cody now I can show my friends the lore more. Are you sponsored to make lore races or are you waiting until they release some sort of campaign guide like the Inner Sea World one?
Im playing a campaign as a Ysoki Mechanic named Splinter and am making four different drones named after the TMNT
Opinions on Ysoki biohacker? :x
I'm going Ysoki Spacefarer Mystic [Star Shaman] :)
Anthony Ridgway noiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice crreeeeaaaaattttttiiiivityyyy
Ysoki mechanic how is in love with his ai drone
Need to make an Ysoki mechanic named Ratchet with a droid named Clank
Definitely Ysoki Operative/Soldier. Ooooo or Mechanic/Soldier. Too many options.
And, now Im considering an Android done in the Ysoki race style,Class; Operative: "Slippery" Jim DiGriz.....
So a stainless steel rat?
First thing I thought of was rat trap from beast wars lol
Me and my DM reskinned a Ysoki into a Raccoon style and I basically got to play Rocket from Guardians of the Galaxy
Outlaw Mechanic.
Space Teemos!
Ysoki named hiccup, who was captured by a vesk and kept prisoner as a "pet" who became an icon on social media. Grumpy cat??
Skaven
They don't exist. ;)
I’m currently playing a joke cracking witchwarper ace pilot
My combat drone is named Groot
Ysoki Technomancer is a good combo, but is the squishiest build in the game. Ysoki get the lowest HP (2), and Technomancers grant the lowest HP (5), making for a whopping 7 HP at level one.
I chose technomancer
but challenge accepted gonna make a solarian ysoki
Ratfolk my ass, they're giant space hamsters. Stupid Spelljammer reference is nostalgic...and stupid.
Mickey Mouse Envoy Icon
I'm not sure how I feel about the Ysoki. I'd probably enjoy using the race as one of my characters, but I think he's probably far down the list.
I don't know I think that they would be better operatives and the androids would be better mechanics/technomancers
12th
I am only of those players that will play goblins or ratfolk
SirFryStirFry I love playing those types of races, especially love the paizo goblins
Mike Willis they are the most fun
One of the most fun characters I've played in the 25 years of gaming was a goblin bard, man he was a blast, he was the nephew of a more or less crimeboss in a city where goblins were strictly hated, still 2nd class citizens but were pretty accepted, the antics I got into with that guy was amazingly fun lol
Mike Willis my last actual character i got to play was a ratfolk alchemists that was found in an evil wizard's tower
I didnt understand the concept of owning things so when the barbarian licked a can of soda in character and said "it's mine" I took it as oh that is how you say it is yours. So later that session we ended up in the village and I licked a poisoners dagger said mine and walked off with it. One hour of talking later and one searched bag later thw party had to pay for all the stuff that was "mine cause I licked it" (4k gold
Preferred race confirmed.
Everyone keeps saying "Pikachu" and "Rocket Raccoon".
Not one Gadget from Rescue Rangers? No Monterey Jack? Seriously? Okay.
a capibara mechanic
So they are a small, technologically advanced race destroying their home because of advancement? That's a little cliche.
Noximus Jamaicanus Sorry to disappoint, but the Ysoki had nothing to do with Akiton starting to die. The beings responsible for that left for the stars long ago.
* happy rat noises *
Also, may I just mention that a ysoki technomancer is my first character, and I’m currently at level two.
I'm not sure why people believe that rats have good vision in the dark. Rats actually have terrible night time vision. They use their senses of smell and the tactical input from their whiskers to make up for it.
Chad Dixon they also don't have pouches like hamsters do but hey its sci-fi/fantasy not non fiction story telling.
They actually have a variant with 30 feet of blind sight
Ysoki = hobbit.
