your "over budget" envelope is such a good idea!!! I'm constantly going over and using my miscellaneous... having a separate over budget category is genius 🤩🤩
I’m finally prepping to order a bunch of envelopes and I am SO glad you’ve added and went over these. My brain works less when I have 10 categories instead of “fun” plus its easier to prioritize and not loose track.
There's nothing wrong with having a lot of envelopes.. I have 60 in just 😬 2 binders (haven't really seperated them yet.) it may be going to be possibly 70 or even maybe 80 now. For me, I just want my family to really be prepared. Plus, I'm tired of stressing financially. You do you. Happy cash stuffing. Love LOVE all the categories. I just came across this video, and I just subscribed. I'm looking forward to watching more videos. I have been budgeting for a while but haven't ever launched any videos. I'm waiting to possibly start next year.
I have separate for health and medical. I need the money there every 3 months too, so i treat it as bill i get once a quarter of the year and health as sinking funds, like bandages and painkillers. I also suggest a pet emergency fund if you have a cat that needs more vet visits. I talked to my vet about it and he suggested 1 larger emergency fund around the most expensive operation they could have (this way you can add whatever you need quickly and it doesn'thit as hard)+ smaller sinking fund separate that you can use as yearly medical care like vaxines and pest control items. It sounds excessive, but i had a very sick dog, who has passed on now, so my bills were high yearly and so far, this logic has been solid.
This is super helpful for anyone who is starting cash envelopes and budgeting. Since I am new, video like this that explains basic primary pieces helps me understand it better. Great video Aya ❤
I binged your videos when I found you a month or so ago! My husband and I instantly started a “long day” cash envelope!!! It’s the best because those days always come around 😅
more envelopes have been making it easier for me, and I’m definitely going to break the categories down more and get more envelopes. At the beginning I was using my personal money for everything I wanted that wasn’t a bill, which was terrible lol, cause I spent it all on take out. Now I have a take out envelope and I haven’t spent any of my personal money!!!!! Also stopped eating out as much because there was a smaller budget for it :)))
I love how thorough you are with your envelopes. Movies are so expensive, but they do have memberships available, which is cheaper because I have one and I get two free movie tickets a month. But it depends what movie theaters 💜.
I have 81 envelopes as well! And I still feel like I need more since I want to create a "holiday" binder! Lol household and toiletries are different, sometimes I need random things like a spatula or more plates, or a flower vase, or water filter for my Keurig. For pet insurance I am paying $42 a month with $250 deductible and 90% reimbursement. For home and vacation, I made 2 separate binders for them!!! omg Disney! we go once a year, my fav place!!!!!! you can use etsy for etsy taxes since you have to pay taxes for etsy quarterly and not annually.
I need holiday envelopes! I have the templates but haven’t had time to make them yet. Don’t know where they’ll go since all my binders are nearly full 😭 guess I’ll have to order another 😂 and whatttt how the heck do I pay Etsy taxes?!?!
@@ayaplans thesimplebudget was explaining on her one TH-cam video one time that you need to pay every 3 months or else they penalize you with a fee… it scared me away so that’s why I end up doing custom orders on my Instagram 🥹🥹 and omg time for new motermssssss lol

Sorry, I'm trying to get some envelopes set up, so I'm trying to get things straight in my head. Toiletries would be like shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, razors, body wash, skincare, makeup, etc? I can honestly say I wish I had signed up for pet insurance a long time ago. My dog is older now and this year has been the most I have taken her to the vet. The insurance really helps out a lot.
I signed up for pet insurance by CARE under my job and it's so good. I think I am paying $42 a month right now- for $250 deductible and 90% reimbursement!

Thank you so much! 🥰 since we are pretty much living paycheck to paycheck right now, I am only cash stuffing the necessities and a few other envelopes. I have not been able to stuff my sinking funds envelopes for quite some time (travel, wedding, house, etc.). We are focusing on paying off debt and honestly there is not much leftover after bills and necessities to cash stuff other envelopes 😢 this debt should be knocked out soon though! So then I will stuff my other envelopes. And that amount just depends on how much we have in our budget or if we have a specific thing planned. For example, if we have a vacation planned, I’ll know how much I need to stuff based on the total amount of expenses. But when stuffing sinking funds, I just normally put however much I want (however much I have to work with) 🥰 hopefully that explains it! Thanks for asking!
Awesome breakdown of your envelopes! Love all of them! And love how you have minimal debt in your credit card! #goals ❤ I use lemonade as my pet insurance! I heard great reviews from them. My pet insurance is $89 per month, pretty maxed with reimbursement and benefits and my dog is a 9 year old mixed baby 20lbs. Hope that helps you gauge how much you’ll spend!
I know this is an old video; but I do have one tip. Try not to have "monthly payments" on phones and cars, etc. Save up all the money to pay the item in full at the time of sale. ❤

Again, I know it's an old video. But, you shouldn't need an "over budget" envelope. If you are overspending, then you adjust the actual envelope it's self.
Thanks, but it’s my envelopes and binders, so I can do what I want 🤗 Sometimes the overspending is unpredictable because things come up in life daily. I have TONS of envelopes so adjusting the amount in the envelope will not help if I will not know which category I will go over budget in. Over budget is due to prices increasing without me realizing, needing something last minute that I did not account for, etc… so it’s not due to bad spending habits or budgeting too little. The over budget envelope applies to every category in my system. It’s how it works for me and my lifestyle and that’s all that matters!
If you look at my cash stuffings, they are a little over $1,000 or less. Do what works for you! I have so many categories because I don’t want to combine certain things. For example, I could combine dental and medical, but I don’t want to. So that means two envelopes instead of one.
