im turning 17 have slowly turned my 2d animation, illustrations and writing hobbies into a part time job, and its been fun. I've been struggling with the imposter syndrome lately so seeing someone who older than me and being able to be an independent artist makes me happy to know I'll one day be able to be in the same position.
I'm always amazed when people makes full pieces on procreate but even more so comic pages, congrats on all the hard work you make and thank you for always helping the art community with all the content/information you share!
Amazing video, I too work in animation in Toronto and also am dealing with layoffs for the past 4 months, I've been enjoying it. It really gives you time to reset and think about what's important. I'm happy I found your yt channel :)
I actually started doing my old hobbies again. Playing video games going to the gym watching TV and reading manag and other books. I just need to come up with a good schedule so I can make time to work on my comic. 😅
6:04 I’m very excited for the new graphic novel project you’re working on! I saw in another video on how the style you have for the project is inspired by Rumiko Takahashi and it makes me even more excited!!! ♥️ (I LOVE Inuyasha 😭)
As someone who keeps running into a "creative u-turn" when I hit around week 5, do you have any tips for keeping the stability to finish out the 12 weeks?
I’ve started to take my art seriously now for me to get to a comfortable spot in my life and videos like this really help me stay motivated. Thank you 😊
The travel thing is such a cool idea, though It pains me to know all the best opportunities come from privilege. Everyone joining the trip will already have a step up in their career journey. What are your thoughts about this?
There definitely is some live of privilege / luck involved with any great opportunity, but at the same time I don't think I can say everyone who attends the trip is 100% that. Many people are either using payment plans, saving up, or have already worked for some time to accumulate the savings for it. I don't think it will automatically grant people a step up in their art careers as some people will be non-artists thinking about transitioning careers, and some people are a lot older and rethinking their paths. It's a lot more nuanced than just privilege in my opinion! I have a discord group where I get to speak with all my travelers, and I can definitely guarantee it's not a 100% privilege type of situation!
7:54 trying to build the runway and balance college/youtube and post-college plans currently, so definitely understand the ideas here! getting beyond some of the mental hurdles about "what's next" are still a bit daunting to me tho 😅
being self employed def is hard but def still need to take time for yourself and eating sushi with friends will do that and maybe give you an idea for a comic 🙂

Mewtrippled random question, How often do Animators in the Los Angeles industry create animation using punched paper and a acme pegbar for animation? How often did you come across that method so far in your career?
I've a question, maybe someone here can help me out, I hear having an agent is better to get hired and stuff, but is that possible for some that's not in the US? I'm from latin america and tbh that's never been brought up here. In this case, I'm asking if someone outside the US can get an US agent. Btw, thanks for the videos and content is always helpful ❤❤❤❤

Your new graphic novel pitch looks like it’ll be so good. The art is gorgeous and I love the 80s vibe.

Traveling abroad doesn’t make you a better or more desired artist. What makes you think it gives someone a step up? 😊

Pretty much never! No one uses those anymore 🙁
