I made my daughter an appt at the hair salon. The hairstylist wasn't ready. She told me that we could wait or come back in an hour. I didn't live far so I decided to come back. When I came back, she still wasn't ready. When she finally started my daughter's hair she started straightening my daughters hair even though I only asked for a wash and blow dry and trim. When she was done, I gave her the agreed upon $60. She said, what is this. It's $90. I said you said $60. She said, but I straightened her hair. I said, I didn't ask for that. She said, you saw me straightening her hair; you should have told me to stop. (My thoughts) That doesn't make any sense. I was supposed to have my daughter with some straightened hair and some not and pay for that f*ck up.

Don’t forget the stylist who reads over their clients shoulder. Reading private text messages and then proceeds to catch an attitude and stop service, or they finish the service and start filming you calling you every name in the book. The unprofessionalism is insane.
@@Phentes yup. I’ve seen videos, posted by the hairstylist themselves because they believe they are the victims. The client will be texting a friend about how the hairstylist is behaving or doing their hair and the stylist will catch an attitude. Some stop mid braid and confront the clients others finish the job and confront the client on video. It’s so unprofessional that it just reaffirms my belief to use salons. At least in a good salon they won’t do that. They’ll just say thank you for coming and ban you from their location.

Both women were black and they stylist live streamed herself yelling at the client and asking viewers to come get her child because she quote said: “I’m gonna go to jail for beating this bitch. Come get my daughter.” The altercation happened because the stylist changed her toddlers diaper and used baby wipes on her hands. So the client asked her to wash her hands with soap and water before touching her hair again. The stylist refused and then refused to let the client leave if she didn’t pay her for her services. Which she never completed, only a quarter of the woman’s hair was done. The police were called, and if you watch the video they weren’t of much help. The stylist switched up her attitude once the police showed up and put all the blame on the client. If the client hadn’t recorded the altercation before hand it’d be her word against the stylist.

I once got charged a style removal fee just because I had my hair in a braid out. She claimed just because I braided it the previous night, that counted as a “ style removal fee “. She also didn’t finish braiding my hair because my hair “ took too long “ and she braided too tight. She still charged me the full price even though she didn’t finish my hair. Oh and I had to wait two hours for her to finish her other clients who came after me because according to her policy I couldn’t cancel or reschedule. She said my hair took too long so I had to sit there and waste my time. She also claimed that I didn’t bring enough packs of hair even though she told me to bring six packs of hair so it’s my fault that she didn’t finish my hair. I was in so much pain that I took the braids down and some of my hair came out. I took pictures of it and called my credit card company to dispute it.
Something like this happened with me. Found a stylist on Yelp for a $400 installation, sent her the money, I canceled my appointment and she kept all the money because she said that was her "cancelation fee". Go to family, friends, or salons. Period.

She told me to come back 6 weeks later at my next appointment and she'd take of $20.00 which is stupid because that section she didn't finish would have more new growth than the rest of my head. Well a few years later I became Certified Sisterlocks Consultant and since this stylist burned her bridges with other locticians by giving bounced checks and giving people knockoff Sisterlocks®️, she tried to schedule with me. I told her I was booked (for clients like her, that is).😅
I booked a stylist on Instagram. She was three hours late! Three hours! Then wanted me to pay the full price and was pissed I didn't tip her. Never again!
