I knew it would be a cold day in hell before anyone could put as much feeling into that song as Mr. Dylan.... I was right. It looks cold as hell and this musician nails this song! Love it! 👏👏👏
Check out Johnny Rivers cover! Dylan said this about it "The Johnny Rivers one was my favourite. It was obvious that we were from the same side of town, had been read the same citations, came from the same musical family and were cut from the same cloth."
it blows my mind how many people just walk on by without even listening for a minute..but I guess not everyone LOVES music as much as US if u are reading this...
@@m9j263 Haha! I've actually been to New York and busked in Central and Washington Parks (among other places): to my knowledge, there's NOWHERE like this location in NY! This is Lincoln in England, and the Stone Archway (called Stonebow) I'm performing in front of was built in the 15th century! Lol 😝🙏🏿❤️ xx
I'd rather see and hear this brother every day of the week than anyone you'd pay $500 for. Stunning performance of one of my all time favorite songs. Thank you, sir, your music negates the flurry of dim humanoids in the frame and brings light and joy to the street instead.
Watching all those automatons passing by is further proof that the age when this beautiful song was written could have been a hundred years ago and on another planet. Well done Phil because you have thousands of people on TH-cam who are NOT walking by but are admiring your truly excellent performance. Thank you for your talent and soul.
WOW! Thanks for the great feedback!... I've not been following my TH-cam channel closely for awhile (posting mainly to Facebook.com/MUSICMANphilgray); so it came as a surprise when my brother emailed to inform me that this video is performing so well! Thanks to my friend Paul Bescoby who filmed it way back when! :-D xxx
Thanks! I don't normally reply; because it's so long ago since I posted this, I forget it's up here (and don't always check my ALL my emails). Of all my posts, I think this has probably had the most views and positive comments; which surprises me, because I "fluff up" at the end and get the words wrong! However, I pleased if it gives Dylan fans some satisfaction. :-D x
@@phil9028 I just wanted to say that I cannot understate how important this video is to me. You were one of the reasons I started playing guitar and harmonica. Seeing you cover a classic Dylan song with harmonica really inspired me. God bless you. Thank you.
Wow this video is 9 yrs old and I’m loving it what a great performance all those people that are just walking by have no clue how fortunate they are to have this free performance. Thank you, great job 👏and an extra star for a Dylan song
This is the best cover of my favourite Dylan song I have ever heard ! I would love you to do a full set of Dylan classics and I would definitely buy a CD - Well done !
It's a very difficult song to do at the best of time let alone with just two instruments, I love this song and this guy did it ends justice, it's a shame that so many ingnorant people where around at that time, in another city at a different time he would have creamed it, a very worthwhile effort from him to say the least!
I would not have been one of the people walking by without even stopping. I would have shared the mic! I’ve been listening to this song since it was released many years ago.
It was not a drag to see or hear this unique cover of a great Dylan song. Thanks for doing it and posting it. I'd love to hear you do Desolation Row or Absolutely Sweet Marie.
Thanks Raku! It's very strange; I think when I left for Israel last year, views of this video stood around 47,000 (?). When I returned, I think they may have gone up by a few hundred (I'll check the analytics later. But after posting a video on 16 October, 2023, filmed by Rick in Ben Yehuda Street in Jerusalem; views of THIS video (already my most viewed by a long way) seemed to "take off!" It's inexplicable, because it had been on the channel for 8 years already. I'm guessing TH-cam changed their algorithm; or are promoting it because it serves its purpose - followers of my channel have almost doubled in the past 3 months; and many of them a new to TH-cam. Anyhow, it's gratifying if people are entertained by the performance; which is of course the reason for posting it! 🙂 xx
Bob Dylan changed popular song for ever. He showed that you could sing about anything, any way and that what was personal to you could be universal for others. This is a really great cover version. It looks like it was very cold where you were singing this. I admire the acoustic guitar work, particularly under the circumstances. Thank you for sharing !
you my friend just blew me away with your rendition of this classic song. just remember that there are lots of people like me that appreciate your talent thanks you made my day.!!
here it is 8 years later and i find you on yt sidelines .. so glad i saw you there and played your bob dylan's song - great job and performance - you have great persona .. thanks ..~
My comment basically echoes the comment that just appeared as I went to comment. I’m also surprised by all the people who just walk on by without taking a pause to listen to your rendition of this amazing song. If I was there I would have stopped to listen to this melodious tune and it’s words of wisdom
Isn’t it a shame that people don’t listen! Great performance.

They're on their way to work.
i wouldn’t be able to walk past without listening to the whole song
all ears99 because you know people have lives like lol
No rock song ever was dripping with as much anger and sarcasm. This gentlemen really nails it!
He's absolutely incredible. I wish him well.
They see him on the street and ignore a brilliant musician and the most brilliant of songs. What has become of us. 😢
So many people just not getting the beauty of this precious moment & beautiful song ... wake up people 😍🤩
Why aren't more ppl on the street stopping this cover is amazing
Nothing personal. New Yorkers have tunnel vision

I don't think the average person understands the talent, dedication, or the confidence this requires
They might be treating their depression. Just that.
“You’d know what a drag it is to see you”. Best Dylan line ever !✌️💙💙💙
