Just so you know, the term "Gooning" already exists. It's when someone does a bunch of poppers and furiously master bates. So, when you said that, that's all I heard.

This entire part of the video you didn’t even mention a single thing about the boss fight itself you just kept on complaining about the boss fights not having gimmicks. And I’m going say it your take is bullshit a boss fight doesn’t need to have a gimmick to be good there’s a reason so many consider deathstroke from the Arkham games to be the best in the series because it’s a hand to hand fight,no gimmicks just two people fighting.
Also all their move sets are entirely unique so yes the fights are different despite having a similar feel.

Great video, Guys! I've never played any of these games, but it's nice to hear that Insomniac did a good job with it, even if some of the bosses were disappointing. I will say that boss phase evolution long predates the Souls games. It can be seen as far back as the '80s with some boss fights in the likes of the early Castlevania games (even the OG from 1986 had Dracula take on his demonic form in the second phase) and most especially JRPGs, but it became much more prevalent by the 90s. Gunstar Heroes even had a boss called Seven Force, which -- as the name suggests -- consisted of seven phases with distinct designs and movesets. It's still very impressive for a boss from 1993 and hinted at the types of bosses you'd see in Cuphead (which is largely inspired by Gunstar Heroes).
Anyway, I'm enjoying your content as always and look forward to your future uploads!

I loved this game, not quite GOTY but definitely in the top 5, maybe top 3. I actually completely agree with the list in this video, what I wanted to mention is how the parry made this game so much more fun to me (I love to parry in every game that has it) but the window to execute a parry on the hardest difficulty is pretty tight. Sure, I chose to play the game on the hardest difficulty, but there were times where I was fighting bosses where I swore that there were attacks that were impossible to react to. This is also not mentioning that there are attacks that you can ONLY dodge, and come out JUST AS FAST as the parry only attacks, AND THEY CAN BE MIXED UP IN COMBOS. Skill issue? Yeah most likely, but the balancing just felt off to me. The game wasn't being hard it was just being obnoxious. I'm sure this is a nonissue on normal difficulty.
Side note, is this the format of videos going forward? No issues I was just curious why this wasn't the traditional 3 second still image in between entries

By the way, have you guys ever played any of the Ys games? I just beat Ys IX: Monstrum Nox today, and, having played nine entries in the series now, I can honestly say it's surpassed Final Fantasy to become my favorite JRPG franchise. Ys is one of the longest-running JRPG series (as it predates both Megami Tensei and Final Fantasy), and it was also one of the first Action RPG franchises. The original two games from the late 80s are highly innovative and influential but are definitely dated and harder to recommend to modern gamers. The Ys games released from the 2000s onward, however, still hold up very well.
They don't tend to be as heavy on the story compared to other major JRPGs, but they make up for this with a stronger focus on dungeon design and gameplay. Some of these games also have very good boss rosters (not on the level of FromSoftware's titles but still better than most JRPGs), with The Oath in Felghana having my all-time favorite final boss. In some ways, these games are the closest JRPGs have come to The Legend of Zelda series, and this can be seen in the stronger focus placed on the dungeons and combat.
If you're interested in trying out the series, my best recommendation would be to start with Ys Origin. It's a 2006 game that serves as a prequel to the entire series and has probably the best collection of dungeons, as well as a solid boss roster. The OST is also an absolute banger, which is sort of a given with this series. The game's available on Steam, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch, so there are multiple ways to play it. I know you guys have a lot of games in your backlog and all, but I just wanted to recommend this series since some of these games would be pretty well suited to boss rankings.

Boss fights are hugely improved from the first game. Insomniac learned from their mistakes. They added depth to the boss fights by making them challenging. Here are my favorite bosses:

    3) Lizard
    4) Peter vs Miles

but scratch that, even if they all would be same, that doesnt disprove anything about how much fun they are. the boss fights in this game was dynamic, challenging, and actually felt like there is an actual fight.
which is more than we can say about arkham bosses. look at deathstroke :
      - his boss fight was one on one. no henchmen spam was needed
      - provided a gameplay that doesnt forced us to use same unchallenging gimmicks epeatitively like a crash bandicoot game
      - and it was an actual boss *fight* instead of being the worlds easiest and most boring stealth missions
they made 4 game and only 1 boss fight actually free from all these issuses. which is fucking embarrasing on so many levels.
