  • A routine to energise and rebalance, paying special attention to the meridians most often implicated in hormonal imbalance.
I'm sorry if you see intrusive ads. I will turn them off as soon as I can! You can help me get there quicker by subscribing and sharing. Thanks 😊🌷
Meanwhile, the routine is ad-free here: vimeo.com/aman...
KNOCKING ON THE GATE OF LIFE
A great warm-up that eases out the spine and joints, and brings a flash of energy to the system.
Keep the arms loose and relaxed - the movement comes from the turn of the waist. Fists are loose and knock gently on the belly and the lower back, or Gate of Life point, then on the lung points at the shoulder's nest.
    SHAKING, PATTING, SMOOTHING
This tones and smooths all of the energy pathways, and brings us into the present moment.
Relax and shake out tensions, feeling the body become heavier and softer.
Then pat along the major meridian pathways, releasing stagnation.
Finally, run the palms along the pathways, bringing a smooth and even flow of chi along the meridians.
    YIN-YANG BALANCING
We need a balance of yin and yang to stay healthy. Yang energy is active, outgoing and 'doing'. Yin energy is inward, resting and 'being'. Often we are overly 'yang' - trying too hard to do and achieve, and not allowing enough time to rest or to let things be.
In this exercise we let the body express both, to bring them into balance.
Inhale as you straighten upwards to the heavens. Here we are yang - energised and active.
Exhale as you relax forwards and soften the body. Here we are yin - relaxed, resting and quiet.
    CONNECTING HEAVEN AND EARTH
Clears worry and anxiety, rebalancing the spleen and stomach.
Inhale as the hands cross in front of the body.
Exhale as they separate, with a gentle 'Hoooo' sound. The palms connect to the sky and to the earth. See if you can feel that flow of energy from heaven and earth.
    PARTING THE WILD HORSE'S MANE
From tai chi, this simple move rebalances the heart and lungs as well as the spleen energy.
Inhale as the hands come to hold a ball at the level of the lower dantien, in your belly. The weight is balanced evenly on both feet.
Exhale as the hands separate. The thumb of the upper hand leads the arm forward and up, and the weight transfers to that leg in a 70:30 balance. The palm of the lower hand presses down and back. Feel a good stretch through the arms and upper back.
    PUSH THE MOUNTAIN
A great liver clearing exercise. Hormonal imbalance often causes issues with anger, frustration and stuckness - all emotions associated with an imbalance or excess of liver energy.
Inhale as the hands come to the side of the body at the level of the liver. Imagine you are drawing the calm clear energy of benevolence into the liver.
Exhale and sink into a gentle squat as you push strongly forward with your palms straight in front of you. Imagine you are releasing anger or frustration, as well as clearing out what you do not want.
This is a strong stance, that expresses a clear calm defence of your priorities.
    BREATHING CHI IN FOUR DIRECTIONS
A beautiful exercise from Iron Shirt qigong, this aids circulation and rebalances the whole body, bringing a flow of strong and peaceful chi from all sides.
Inhale as the hands come to the heart and exhale as they push out and away, releasing any old energy or tension.
    AWKWARD STANCE
This strengthens and clears the three yin meridians in the legs - spleen, kidney and liver - all of which are linked to hormonal imbalance or a general deficiency of yin energy in the system.
The toes turn outwards. Come up onto the balls of the feet with the heels together. The knees bend outwards and the hands come to prayer position at the heart.
We don't spend long here in this pose, but I do recommend you practise this on its own for as long as you can. It's so good for cultivating yin energy!
    PULLING DOWN THE HEAVENS
Here we ground and rebalance. Energy that goes downwards naturally rises up again (this is not the case in reverse!), so this is a safe way to improve our energy flows while staying grounded.
Inhale as the hands come up to shoulder level..
Exhale, releasing any tension or old energy.
Inhale as you gather energy from the sky.
Exhale and bring that clean fresh heavenly chi down through every cell of the body and back into the earth.
    COMPLETION
One hand over the other on the belly, as the body absorbs the chi you've generated from your practice.
Wishing you a great rest of day!
