Been looking at the GS Mini for a long while now. But, yet to pull the trigger. Are you based in KL? Certainly look forward to chat more on your ownership of the GS Mini. Thanks!
Managed to get an Edge Burst all Mahogany GS Mini 😍 but was tempted by the tone of the Ziricote. They are amazing and my premium acoustic guitars are going to be neglected for a while as the GS Mini is so good and fun to play. I swapped out the plastic bridge pins for a set of Tusq bridge pins (black with abalone dots) - looks awesome and definite improvement in openness and sparkle.
I thought I wanted the Mahogany, then I tried the Rosewood in a store yesterday, what a stunning beautiful looking and sounding guitar. Now I can’t decide which one I want.
I've had a GS Mini Mahogany for 3 years. The sound is amazing, so amazing that I had no idea just how bad the set up was until I had taken it to a professional to give it a good clean. As for the Elixir gauge 13 strings, are not great for a beginner, really did not progress my playing. I actually now use Martin gauge 12 Eric Clapton strings, sound bette and far easier to play than the Elixir strings. Yes believe it or not you can use Martin strings on a Taylor guitar. Have no idea why Taylor insist on using the Elixir strings. I fell for that marketing myth for 2 years Thankfully my Taylor GS Mini has never sounded better
The back and sides are the same on all the models, the only slight difference being the very thin OUTSIDE layer of laminate wood. As for which one; Mahogany electro for me.
Elixir strings required for the short scale with the bass version. I get it. How about the six string? I have a Taylor acoustic, but my wife who wants to play acoustic guitar finds it to be a bit too big.... bringing me to research these things. I have an affinity for mahogany resonance, especially solid mahogany (think 50s and 60s Gibson electrics), which these budget instruments probably don't possess. My Taylor has some kind of mahogany laminate sides and back, with a solid spruce top. All said, we're both in our sixties, and I just picked up the guitar again for the first time in well over a decade, and the better half wants to perhaps play. I had to change strings anyway, so put nickel electric 13-52s on the thing for bend and playability, and am not unhappy with the slight loss of tone, since I won't be playing anything in public at this point. I just want guitars I (we) can play. I suppose I should play the variants to compare tonal quality (which would differ using nickel strings anyway), but there's not a guitar store within 100 miles. I guess I'm asking but not asking for recommendations. The Koa is beautiful, of course, and no piezo pickup necessary to shape sound, in our situation. Whatever we decide upon will be on a stand in a corner with others regardless. Thanks for your review. Pretty instruments and nice playing.
Does anyone know the name of the demo song he played on all of them? It’s the second finger picking tune. I hear a lot of nice demo songs but can’t for the life of me find any information on what they are.
Anyone able to give any insight as to how these stack up to the Martin 000-10e? The Koa Taylor’s are comparable in price but the Martin is all solid sapele. Need to try them for myself but if anyone has tried both your help would be appreciated.
People doing reviews like these are simply giving you a comparison of the tonal qualities of the wood used in guitar build to the best of their abilities and recording technology. Different music or even different octaves on different instruments would not be a fair comparison. The exact musical passage is the only way to make the comparison. There's nothing sad about it, because it's not a recital or concert. It's just information to help the viewer to decide on an instrument. What's sad is that you and a few others want a concert. Pay for those performances. You'll never play anyway.
I got a free rosewood ga mini with the black pickguards. I honestly don’t like it, I kinda preferred the sound of the academy Taylor for some reason. What a shame I can’t exchange it anymore. Wish I’d had taken the academy with the carve out for you arm. Very nifty add on.
Just got the GS mini-e koa. Plays wonderful and looks even better
I just bought the GS mini spruce and rosewood. OMG it sounds amazing!

Never seen an edge burst mahogany...just the koa plus model.
Surprised me too and the Acoustic Centre actually had 2!
Well thats very concerning that they still used plastic parts.
Its like their way of saying, fu, youre not up to premium yet
I have one. Love it.
I thought I wanted the Mahogany, then I tried the Rosewood in a store yesterday, what a stunning beautiful looking and sounding guitar. Now I can’t decide which one I want.
What did you pick? I initially wanted a koa, went home with a rosewood.
@@titopaeng 🙂
I like how he says Taylor like "Tyler."
Solid wood top with laminated sides and back.

Try elixir 11s or even 10s. I think I'm mediocre but my friends call me advanced and that's what I use haha
martin strngs in a Taylor, great hack.🤙🏻

Love my gs mini
Wow I bought the koa!
I owned the gsmini koa. For me spruce sounds honky that is why I chose the koa...
Spruce & Rosewood = warm and woody.

i am loved natural good guitar ,this so good and sound great.
im still trying to decide which one I want.. I wish they did the koa without the electronics... Looking likely to get the Mahogany.
I went with mahogany for the same reason. Wanted Koa but didn’t want electronics.
I love my Taylor GS mini koa+e. Does anyone know how the Mini Maton compares?
I used to have both, and I prefer the Taylor. More dynamic, bigger sound, and better playability in my opinion.
mini maton cant beat gs mini, because of its smaller, i agree that koa plus gs mini is have more low, clarity and loud.
Big baby Taylor or GS Mini?
Gs mini

i’ve tried a d-10e and it sounded worse than a gs mini rosewood, sorry if thats not really useful though
I just returned that Martin 000-10e. Got the gs mini mahogany
Sweet
How much the price
"reasonable price" - are you talking about their counterfeit Asian versions? Those have reasonable prices and also good quality.
Aren't GS Mini made in Mexico? Why did he say China?
You’re right. They are made in Mexico. Confusion with similar Yamahas made in China? 🤷🏻♂️
chinese people who work in mexico LOLLL
hello, sorry it is not all koa is is lamenent back and sides.
Martin and Taylor are the best guitars
