Ngl. It's pretty freaky and disturbing to think that an hour earlier they were little kids who were hushed off to the side to "play"... They went through their childhood and early adolescence within a few hours.

@@R0-83-RTpeople actually don't know how to have sex, it's proven to really be learned. That's why you get people who are sheltered not know how to have sex and going to the doctor confused why they can't have kids only to find out they'd been doing it wrong or not at all.

Yeah the plot has way too many holes
It's an interesting premise, but there are many many plot holes... For example, just because you age rapidly, doesn't mean you get any smarter... How does Trent learn new things like how to read better. He and Kara should have the intellect of 6 year olds. They would be mentally handicapped. Also, what about hair, nails, food. I don't think the science supports the premise. Maybe Chris Nolan should have made this instead.
@@dadada486 I'd argue Tennant isn't any better in the plot hole department if you really want to get into weeds of the mechanics of how sci-fi plot elements would actually work. When talking about reverse entropy, there's even a quote in the movie saying not to think about it too much.

When they first saw pregnant Kara, I was half expecting the mom to listen to her daughter’s pregnant belly with her ear and say “I can hear the heartbeat” with a heartbeat sound effect being heard
Never saw this movie but at the end of the clip when she "maybe we should all talk about what just happened" I genuinely loled

I dnt think it was lack of attention though that is a thing that can kill a baby. Babys ate supposed to triple in size and wait the first few weeks or months of being born. The baby starved to death.

Why do media keep insisting that no matter how, when, or why a baby is born, the parents automatically will be super emotionally invested? Those two kids would be more concerned about getting yelled at by their parents than if this baby they can’t really grasp the consept of is okay or not.

And they are trapped on the beach because you can’t leave the way you came in it causes you to black out and get a blood nose because of a time warp in that area or something. Watch it and you’ll understand. The movie is called “Old”

How are they not constantly eating? If 9 months is 20 minutes, then they're aging at a rate of 19,656 minutes per minute (19,656 times faster than normal). If a human can survive only 30 days without food and 3 days without water, then they would be dead within 13.5 seconds (3 days in their accelerated timeline).
Also it must only affect aging, because otherwise the light from the sun would never reach them.
It doesn't make much sense. 😆

The movie basically said you needed to eat food if you were putting on mass, otherwise it was just a "normal" day. So the kids needed to eat a lot when they were growing, but after they were done, you don't see anybody eating. Thus the baby died because it needed to put on mass quickly.

She's the real age of a child, it never occurred to her and even if it did, she just said she "got fat" which is what a child would think

This movie proves again that basing a picture on a comic book is very risky and often fails. This one also flops because, as others have noted, there are scenes that are intended to be horrific or scary or disconcerting and come off as funny or just silly. Also, the "science" of the plot is set up then totally broken multiple times throughout to the point that this M. Night train wreck is not salvageable.
Also, the director/writer seems to lack a basic understanding of biology or could not reconcile the "accelerated aging" as a science fiction rule within the movie and how to apply it to the characters.
Or maybe he did and just didn't want half his actors menstruating every two minutes. Which according to the rules set up by the plot would have to occur for this scene to even happen.
The director is on record for saying that the baby dies (unlike in the original comic) because he didn't want an adult character walking around with the intellect of a new born. To top that off he has if die from lack of attention ?!? What?
Some babies have died from not enough attention. But in this movie, I'm not sure why.
It's been awhile since I've seen the movie and I've seen it twice. Going by what I remember of the rules whomever is on the island grows old rapidly. Either part of the baby's body or organs couldn't keep up so it was basically a stillborn, or it just couldn't get enough nutrients in time to survive. This just my two cents...
I'd say fast starvation makes more sense since babies grow faster.
If starvation was an actual risk for the fetus / baby then starvation is a risk for the whole group. They would have all succumb to lack of calories within moments of reaching the beach. ALL biologic processes are accelerated, growth, healing, progression of degenerative diseases, etc. Yet, biologic functions inconvenient to the plot such as hair growth, menstrual cycles, finger nail growth, etc. are simply ignored or given stupid dialog to dismiss. @@masacatior

@@XPert9000 only effected skin cells. Other wise the rocks would be breaking apart and turning into sand but at the same time it's inconsistent cuz the spoons and other stuff developed rust. So who knows
