I love this guy he brings humour and joy to the subject
I think you touched on an excellent point here Horst, that whiskies that are $200 are definitely not X2 better than $100 whiskies.
I bought a bottle of Chivas Regal 21 today for almost $200, and it was very very disappointing. A $40 glenfiddich 12 is more flavourful.
I love this guy. Big fan. Makes me smile every time he introduces himself: LueningHorstLuening
14:00 This is where Hercule Poirot meticulously lays it all out on the table. Fantastic.
Hi Horst,
Great video! Really enjoy hearing what you have to say about whisky. Been watching a lot of your videos over the last several months.
I find that the sweet-spot for age quality in scotch whisky is 18-30yo. I find between 12-17yo more often then not, good but not great, that being said there are some real gems in that bracket, 18-30yo more often than not are excellent, with a higher ratio of really good to great, with the odd dud. Haven't tasted much over 31yo, but what I find in your and other reviews, is, there is a real hit and miss as you get beyond 30yo.
Thank you for such great videos!
I love how they subtly throw shade at vodka every other vid lol
Horst, how did you become so knowledgeable regarding the whisky business and economics? Is there a journal I'm missing out on, or something? Thank you for making these videos.
Ain Stolkiner He is an employee of the largest German online whisky retailer. During
this period, he should have acquired a lot of knowledge regarding
Whisky.
Yes, I suppose not everything can be found in books and journals. Though it would be nice to know where the layman can gather this knowledge outside of youtube videos.
Ain Stolkiner I visited more than 170 distilleries in the world and had a lot of talks with insiders. I also took more that 10,000 pictures of these distilleries which you can find in our whisky database on whisky . com. Comparing these pictures of equipment between distilleries alone gives you a lot of knowledge.
Ain Stolkiner I am a child of the Internet revolution. I wrote my first email in 1989 and my first whisky website went online in 1994. I avoid printed material and journals because there spreading is very limited. I started with YT videos in 2007 and it really took off in 2010. In the meantime I have 2,000 vids altogether online with app. 15m views. This channel in English language is just a year old. Thank you for watching it. It develops quite well.
