For all of you that are impressed by this engineering you should watch how we do it in scandinavia for me this old 1950s engineering. By the time this man is transfering the trailer load we are already done and getting another load
Whatever's goin' on it's Awesome ~ Reminds of surgeons in hospitals fixin' replacement hearts and other change-over body parts with putting tubes here and putting valves there and turning on blood supplies and stuff and either way haulage or heart 'gettin' the show back on the road'.🙂
@PS 400 oh yep.in oz we call them dogs.but we also have pups and pigs lol.either way its whats suited for the conditions. I seen these set ups in bc canada.
that's a nice setup, I really like the work lights built into the tailgate support arms. But I prefer an electric drive unit. They are quicker, alot less hookups, and just easier to work with,
Drove transfers out in California! Motors were on the trailer box and were two Chevy starter motors and an extra battery that you had BETTER get hooked up when finishing and driving off!! More simple setup but had to get creative when the trailer battery was weak! If I wasn't behind the steering wheel, I was under it fixing something!
I'm just learning about these, because where I want to go, they use these. So, you dump one load and then transfer the next load into the truck and dump it... Sounds easy enough 👌
Awesome Tandem work!!..Turns off the truck but leave it in reverse. Press a button in the back near hitch which will crank the motor but not turn it over causing the truck to move in reverse.
There is a switch on the drawbar that diverts some of the air from the air brake reserve canister that's on the trailer and the air pressure lifts the bar
hey man im filming my transfer in california waoo we dont have so many hoses what i like about yours is that runs automatic with a chain belt ,good luck be safe out there
this trailer is custom with lots of additional lights so there are a few xtra power cables that wouldn't be there normally. How do you transfer without the chain and the Hydraulic system?
I've run a transfer dump before. It's just a set of rails with wheels (like this setup) on both, and a locking pawl on the transfer box. Undo the pawl, and push on the back of the transfer box and it rolls into the truck's box. Then lock it into the truck's box like normal and you're good. To put the transfer box back on the pup, you angle the truck box a little and pull on the transfer box and it'll roll back on to the pup, then relock the pawl and do the other normal stuff.
Dieselhead I have yet to see a non hydraulic system like the one you just explained. Our's all use a PTO (Power Take Off) which uses a hydraulic pump that turns a gear connected to a huge chain on the box.
When he gets out the last time he shuts the engine down but doesn't set brakes and leaves the truck in reverse. There's a button he hits that rolls the motor over and moves the truck, but it won't start because ignition is off. Then he jumps in turns ignition on cranks again and pulls off!
@@mack_titan ... that option is the engine's starter motor that tries to start the engine but since the ignition is off and the truck is in reverse gear, the starter motor just turns the engine and the transmission which 'drives' the truck back a few inches.
One thing I noticed is that when he hooked up the trailer he never put a safety pin in the latch. Yes I know they aren’t supposed to open on that type hitch but ACCIDENTS do happen!!
So on that type of pintle hitch, you can see when he drops it that there is a little flange above it. That little flange prevents the hitch from lifting up. It tucks sort of underneath so the only way to unlock the hitch is manually.
omg it is 2016 that procedur had we in The 70s here in sweden, now a days The driver only get out too conect The cabel and air too The trailer when he had dump The load and are ready too go!
Peter juteberg Exactly what I'm thinking too. Americans and Canada is where Sweden was in the 60-70's. That shitty conection to the trailer look like the shit military use not way near the Vbg standard. This whole concept whit a trailer whitout dumpinghydraulics makes me lol!
Obviously skilled but I would like it explained as to what is happening ? His load slides back onto that rig but how does he get the liner back for the next pickup ? Or is he just delivering a dumpster ?
JAMES Rivis after he dumps the liner load he then backs up flush to the trailer and Johnny slides the liner back onto the trailer then pulls ahead a bit to re connect to the swing arm.
there is a button inside the cab that turns the engine off. but once you press the button n the back it turns the motor while the truck is in gear which makes it role back.
Yes Karman is correct. He knows his stuff. Ya just like he said, once you have lined up your truck to your trailer you put it in gear (reverse) and flip you convertor switch in your cab which changes your ignition from the key over to the bump switch button located at the back beside your hitch. Then once you clean up your ball and lift your trailer reach you hit the bump switch which turns over the engin causing your rig to keep rolling back. One thing you want to take note of is that it's optimal to be within a few feet of your trailer as bumping it back 10 feet 5 - 10 times a day is going to kill your starter in no time
When he pulled up if you notice he got out of the truck with it in reverse with the motor off, so when he got to the back ready to hook to the tow bar there is a button to turn the motor with the starter thus moving the entire tractor back. Im guessing there is some fail-safe in the cab like leaving the key off so that the truck doesnt actual turn on completely and idle back into the trailer.
You guys must be Italian with all that spaghetti you’re throwing around! I run Rogue or Reliance boxes and there’s two air lines like any trailer, and one or two electrical plugs and one safety chain. You don’t have to hook up hydraulics when you transfer because the air or electric motor drives the wheels on the box itself. This is as weird as it gets for me but hey, different country.
We haul everything with transfers. Load out spoil with them all the time. dumps sites are gettin hard to come by and constantly on over 2 hour rounders. Pretty much like moving 3 boxes of material at a time as a 4 axel transfer box holds pretty much twice what the truck can
In a dump truck the chains don't have the strength to support the load so instead the chains are crossed and a basket is made to prevent the reach/trailer arm from dragging or digging into the ground while the emergency activated spring brakes are bringing the trailer to a stop.
There is an air switch on the trailer bar that lifts it. Truck is put in reverse then the driver hits a switch on the back of the truck that turns the engin over without allowing it to start which slowly walks the truck back

Yes, but the purpose of this set up, as we use it in Washington State, is for backing into those tight spots, where a standard truck & pup trailer WON'T fit.
In the Vancouver BC Canada area there is many developments done on property that is down a hill or tight driveway ect. If you drive rock truck you know how much easier it is to drive the truck alone opposed to pulling ANY trailer weather its Pup, end dump, transfer ect. With the transfer you basically get the mobility of driving just the truck but have the capacity ot a truck and pup or end dump. You pull your load out to a job, park your truck and trailer roadside or somewhere easily accessible and dump your truck, then return to the easily accessible location to butt up to your trailer and then transfer your trailer box into the front truck (like the russian dolls) then head over say down the tight driveway or down a side road and dump the trailer box then return to transfer the box back on to the trailer and your on your way. When im warmed up it can all be done in 10 - 12 minutes so to get the xtra precision its not a huge set back by any means! I hope this explination helps

You can haul double the material with 1 trip.
@@shaggings why not have a pup you can dump without the hassle is my point.
dump a transfer anywhere... a pup needs wayyyyy more space.
You should look up RKP or SLP transfer systems. They have been the standard here in Sweden for more than 20 years.

So, you dump one load and then transfer the next load into the truck and dump it...

I'm learning this as well. Looks like you dump A box first then B box second. I'm going to be training for 2 weeks.
Thanks for posting. I always wondered how that was done.
Now that's some damn good engineering
K Line in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada made this particular trailer.
Perhaps the rules are different in BC, but the Chains should be crossed over each other. Interesting set up... Thanks for sharing
How does that reverse work when he hooking up the pup again???
Awesome Tandem work!!..Turns off the truck but leave it in reverse. Press a button in the back near hitch which will crank the motor but not turn it over causing the truck to move in reverse.
It's a button you push to bump start the truck. You leave the truck in reverse gear to do it.

Hey slick I noticed your drawbar didn't drop I noticed you also corrected that in the video good job
Its just on air. It takes a while to drop down. By the time the second part was filmed it had time to lower down on its own
What's the power/control, to lower/raise the trailer drawbar, when disconnected from the tractor?
There is a switch on the drawbar that diverts some of the air from the air brake reserve canister that's on the trailer and the air pressure lifts the bar
What does he haul? The dump stays clean after dumping
In and out of the cab plus the Pental hitch setup

What's the safety chains for we don't have them in New Zealand what lot of fuckin round hooking your trailer back up

It sure is handy! No Pun intended.
This is so 1970,
The transfers here in California are ways complex as this transfer is
So I missed how the trailer part lifts off the ground and the truck backs up
There is an air switch on the trailer bar that lifts it. Truck is put in reverse then the driver hits a switch on the back of the truck that turns the engin over without allowing it to start which slowly walks the truck back

Most dangerous trailers ever, centre of gravity way to high
That’s why they have the highest rollover percentage
What state are you in? Seems like a lot of wasted time, get a tractor and dump trailer/24 tons, or tri axle dump truck/23.5 tons one unit
