AI monitoring for ricochet would be a good solution. Basically instead of giving you a wall hack or aimbot, it will just monitor your game play and if you are playing like a hacker it will ban you or drop you from the match.
If you are suspected of using cheats, your account will be up for review to confirm if you really are one. In the meantime, they shadow ban you while waiting to review if it should be upgraded to a perma ban. This is one of the main complaints which is they take no action during the review and just let the system automatically reinstate your account after 14 days. So, regardless if you're guilty or not, you inevitably are getting a 2-week ban
I still feel this is a pretty inaccurate comment. The number of fulltime content creators who cheat is likely extremely low. Anyone who actually has brand deals, or streams on a reputable platform like Twitch or YT (where you can be banned for cheating) would not risk their income. - Granted, anybody who streams is technically a streamer, I feel these accusations are levied against the guys who are actually least likely to do it

The trouble with any system is that its a very 2 sided system - we don't get to see any of the 'bans' before they try and get into games or those players being 'banned' after they've infected our 'game' - especially with the lobbies constantly being disbanded after every match - its very easy to be sceptical and/or even distrust the developers. It's really only the 'cheaters' that get through into your game AND get banned whilst in your game that show us Ricochet is working. Its also going to seem 'bad' if you see a cheater as you'd hope Ricochet had dealt with them before you ended up in a match together - it makes Ricochet seem incapable of preventing them from ruining a 'match' - even if its just 1 or 2 matches a week (out of hundreds). It will still be that 1 match all week you'll likely remember and/or be reminded of everytime 'Ricochet' is mentioned - that 1 cheater who maybe only on their 'first' game inside the first 5mins of getting on and was 'banned' before they could start their 2nd, they were in your game so Ricochet 'failed' despite successfully banning 10k before they even got in a game, despite successfully detecting and banning within the hour, within 5 games. On top of that, you also have gamers who think some better player must be cheating (even on consoles) and will hate that Ricochet hasn't dealt with them. There will be some gamers that won't trust the information - 10k banned before they even played a match - where's the proof? Just saying it for PR? they saw several 'cheaters' so must be BS, even if those players were just better players and not cheating so shouldn't be banned. If I, who is not as good as you, TheTacticalBrit who has competed at WSOW, accuse you of 'cheating' just because you are better and then don't see you get banned or get 'told' by Activision why 'no action' was taken, it would seem Ricochet isn't working despite working perfectly. I wish they would just change it to EAC. Battle eye never banned me, I play on PC all the time and none of these systems every "false" ban me. CODs was the first confirmation and that was because someone exploited it manually (not the system mystery banning you for no reason). That said, about time they us AI for cheating instead of the stupid chat bans. Also, there are modified consoles that run cheats.
Imagine ricochet would recognize aim assist as cheating and ban 90% of the players. That would be hilarious. I know it is not cheating but it is undeniable how strong aim assist is in COD compared to other games. Before you cry look at the hard number and leave emotions out of the discussion. There is a reason why more and more M&K players are switching to controller.
One of the biggest issues is that COD is one of the most popular games, so there is a huge incentive for cheat makers to make cheats. Give players bots in their lobbys, and a lot of these issues will stop because people will be getting more wins, cheaters wont know they are cheating against bots etc...

Anti cheat is an arms race, one it can never actually win. The reason is down to human behavior - without getting into the psychology of it all, social normalization, and minimalist consequences, It can be confidently asserted that cheating is not going anywhere and will impact the games at a high level. If any Anti-cheat wants to create a social change, then by far the best way to do this would be a shame-based-consequence. Hit everyone who even posts a single video that is cheating (streamers, broadcasters etc) with a public 'name-shame-ban' system and you will de-incentive to a great extent. Bottom line - the only way to effectively reduce cheating is to make it inconvenient, socially damaging, and not profitable. The fact we have situation now that we have question if a player is actually legit, says it all.

The question remains what they're actually looking for. And it sounds a lot that they are still trying to get the aimbots out of the game. But since Ricochet was released, it always had a very blind eye when it came to wall hacks. I see a soft aimbot (players who are hitting the point on the body every time, no matter how the situation is) here and there, but not too often. But wall hacks on the other side are dominating the MP and WZ. As long Ricochet cannot detect those, you will have a problem, especially in WZ.
Very interesting changes. I think this is something they have been planning on doing for a while, now xbox/Microsoft own call of duty.. Microsoft will want this game and future cod titles to have a fully functioning and working anti cheat for their platforms especially.

Cheating stems from the competitive community, if the competitive community is isolated in console only, it would greatly reduce the cheating (specially closet cheaters) Now for regular pubs SBMM already protect their casual crowd from cheaters since they end up in higher SBMM brackets. Its ranked thats the problem, having it console only would be problematic since the game is sold with equal features and price for every platform. So i cannot think of a solution for it other than a very aggressive anticheat.
Wait. We heard similar promises with every new COD title release. DMZ is infested with wallhacking cheaters. Wallhack is the least detected cheat if used outside of your PC. So if they can't even control day to day problems how can they deliver in few weeks ??? I like COD as a game. I don't play atm. and I don't buy it.
We all know there is a 99.9999% chance the anti cheat will be just a bad as it's ever been even after this update. The trouble ricochet is going to have with ML is that you need a huge data set, you would hope they have this already assuming they have kept all the match data from the last year or so, but more importantly you need to train the ML model for it to be effective, for each players data in each match you need to be able to tell the model if this player was cheating, or not, in the specific match. The problem comes when you have such a large number of cheaters in COD historically you aren't going to be able train the model with absolute certainty that a player in a particular match was cheating or not cheating. For a ML model to be good you need a vast amount of data to feed it, but you need the data to be of very high quality. I just don't see how they will be able to achieve this given the amount of cheaters in the game and the uncertainty around which players are cheating. Yes you can easily tell that some people are cheating because it's obvious, but we all know cheats are pretty sophisticated these days and are designed to look like real players movements. I just don't see them being able to train an ML model effectively unless they pull off a miracle, or unless Microsoft has stepped in a lent their expertise to them in a very very big way. Given that it's not owned by Microsoft we could potentially see a kernel level anti cheat delivered via the windows update that is actually baked into the operating system.
The data set was trained in the beta. On only console players. So I imagine the amount of data they have is pretty astronomical. Especially as it was the most played beta to date.

As much as I understand the scepticism, integrating AI/ML is not something that can be done overnight, probably took 1.5 to 2 years to do.

The question remains what they're actually looking for. And it sounds a lot that they are still trying to get the aimbots out of the game. But since Ricochet was released, it always had a very blind eye when it came to wall hacks. I see a soft aimbot (players who are hitting the point on the body every time, no matter how the situation is) here and there, but not too often. But wall hacks on the other side are dominating the MP and WZ. As long Ricochet cannot detect those, you will have a problem, especially in WZ.
Very interesting changes. I think this is something they have been planning on doing for a while, now xbox/Microsoft own call of duty.. Microsoft will want this game and future cod titles to have a fully functioning and working anti cheat for their platforms especially.

They need to go to the Valentine route with their antique and IP and hardware advance don't really help because their software that can mask and change your IP and hardware ID numbers. Also when valve did their AI anti-cheat because literally go into a game and just start moving your mouse fast and you would get banned instantly😂😂
People can cheat their balls off with DMA cheats, while being on console; where it’s connected to a PC with the cheats on them.
Both the PS5 and Xbox are actually deeply protected against such devices. Circumventing them requires a lot of capture card fuckery that adds tonnes of latency and makes it unplayable. Source: Anticheat engineer

Just keep competitive in console only. Cheating stems from the competitive community, if the competitive community is isolated in console only, it would greatly reduce the cheating (specially closet cheaters)
Now for regular pubs SBMM already protect their casual crowd from cheaters since they end up in higher SBMM brackets. Its ranked thats the problem, having it console only would be problematic since the game is sold with equal features and price for every platform. So i cannot think of a solution for it other than a very aggressive anticheat.
Wait. We heard similar promises with every new COD title release. DMZ is infested with wallhacking cheaters. Wallhack is the least detected cheat if used outside of your PC. So if they can't even control day to day problems how can they deliver in few weeks ??? I like COD as a game. I don't play atm. and I don't buy it.
We all know there is a 99.9999% chance the anti cheat will be just a bad as it's ever been even after this update. The trouble ricochet is going to have with ML is that you need a huge data set, you would hope they have this already assuming they have kept all the match data from the last year or so, but more importantly you need to train the ML model for it to be effective, for each players data in each match you need to be able to tell the model if this player was cheating, or not, in the specific match. The problem comes when you have such a large number of cheaters in COD historically you aren't going to be able train the model with absolute certainty that a player in a particular match was cheating or not cheating. For a ML model to be good you need a vast amount of data to feed it, but you need the data to be of very high quality. I just don't see how they will be able to achieve this given the amount of cheaters in the game and the uncertainty around which players are cheating. Yes you can easily tell that some people are cheating because it's obvious, but we all know cheats are pretty sophisticated these days and are designed to look like real players movements. I just don't see them being able to train an ML model effectively unless they pull off a miracle, or unless Microsoft has stepped in a lent their expertise to them in a very very big way. Given that it's not owned by Microsoft we could potentially see a kernel level anti cheat delivered via the windows update that is actually baked into the operating system.
The data set was trained in the beta. On only console players. So I imagine the amount of data they have is pretty astronomical. Especially as it was the most played beta to date.
@@TheTacticalBrit that's interesting, I had not seen that before. I'd be worried for all the mouse and keyboard players then as they will play with different characteristics than controller players. I expect the number of people playing on console with M/K is miniscule.

I wouldn't get my hopes up ricoshit has always made promises but they haven't delivered. their anti cheat is bricked and depends on the shadowban system controlled by the one of the most insecure and toxic player bases if someone can spin in circles shooting the ceiling and kill people through walls then your anti cheat failed. also the ai detections will probably give false positives and will be more harm than good.
