💥Hello, I was diagnosed with Frontal Fibrosing Alopecia this month. My dermatologist has a treatment plan for me. I take Doxycycline Hyclate twice a day. I apply Clobetasol Propionate Ointment 0.05 twice a day. The dermatologist did not promise me my bald spots would fill in. I am hopeful. I have been dealing with this since 2015. It started as thinning in the top of my head. Then it became a bald spot. The dermatologist did a biopsy and the result was Frontal Fibrosing Alopecia. Is there anything successful research that shows the hair grows back after treatment? My dermatologist is just trying to stop the Alopecia from spreading. She saw inflammation and scarring in the front and right side of my head. You did wonderful job explaining Frontal Fibrosing Alopecia. I am in my early 60's, so I am glad I finally got the correct diagnosis. I can't hide the bald spot in the front of my head with a hair style. I have to wear a wig which I hate.
Hi, I was recently diagnosed with FFA as well, I dye my hair every 6wks and thought possible it was caused by an environmental issue although not proven, just wondering do you dye your hair as well?
@ceciliadennert Hello, I have not dyed my hair since 2019. I am salt and pepper. However, now that you have mentioned it. I did get some irritation from the dye at the time. The person who dyed my hair used permanent dye to camouflage the thinning areas. Thanks for replying.
@@loisevora2717 my dermatologist recommended meds, although I haven't taken anything as now, some ppl recommended applying onion juice on area, it has helped regrow hair with other types of alopecia, not sure if it would help FFA, but worth a try :)
I just recently got diagonosed 2 weeks ago not dealing with it so well..i did the monixidil meds gave me heart rate increase n palpitations drop it next alter it kenalog injections , not looking forward to it ugh
I appreciate your videos. I have FFA, have been on Finasteride since August 3x per week and my DHT was tested and I am below the range, too low. Doesn't this also cause hair loss?
Hello 👋 It seems my diagnosis will also be FFA… I am only 35 years old woman…and I am so upset…😢😢 My biopsy result: DIAGNOSIS: FOLLICULITIS, PERIFOLLICULITIS AND PERIFOLLICULAR CONCENTRIC FIBROPLASIA (FINDINGS COMPATIBLE WITH FRONTAL FIBROSCING ALOPECA), FRONTAL REGION SKIN, INCISIONAL BIOPSY I had a hair loss all over the head for several years and hairline(growth line) was ok, I hoped for another type of alopecia, but biopsy showed sad results…
Thank you. I’m surprised that you do not mention loss of eyelashes as part of the diagnostic criteria for frontal fibrosing alopecia. I have lost a lot of lashes in addition to brows.
Yes, Loss of both eyebrows and eyelashes are an important and bothersome symptom of the disease. Loss of eyelashes is significantly less common. Next time I will remember! Thank you!
Interesting video thank you. One question, for male, did you already observe a difference of efficiency between propecia and finasteride generic? In this case this is not better to go for dutasteride? But we don't have long term study for the efficiency Thank you
Love your videos. You are so clear and knowledgable:-) can FFA involve the eyebrows, leg hair and head? I had Alopecia and lose of eyelashes as a child. Now I have eyebrows, leg hair. I also have an elevated anti dsdna. I am a 50 yo female not in menopause at all yet.
Dr.Rudnicka ,please if you could answer my question My son is on Baricitinib since January 2023 on 4 mg. He has AU since July 2021 . He’s getting some white hair on his scalp, facial hair no eyebrows yet. When do you consider switching the medication to another one. Should we still continue Baricitinib or switch. He’s 15 years old. Thank you, appreciate you a lot
Every doctor has her/his own approach. There is currently a tendency to wait longer with JAK inhibitors compared to other treatments because the onset of hair growth may be after many months.
Great video! Very informative. I thought I had it, but after seeing your video, I have noticed that I have some vellus hair in the front part of my scalp, so I guess it is not FFA. One side (the right side) is significantly thinner. Is that common?
I recently got diagnosed with FFA. I have hair on the hairline, it doesnt grow beyond a certain stage, this has been the case for years, I am due to start treatment soon. I just wanted to know if there is hope?
Hello Prof. I am a 23 year old female and I have always had thick and bushy eyebrows. I have been losing my eyebrows rapidly for the past 5 months and I have so much hair loss as well. My hairline seems to be thinning and I have hairs that are very fine falling off as well. I have lost almost half of eyebrow hair and the loss is not in patches, its mostly diffuse. I have no associated redness, but sometimes I do experience mild itching. I doubt if its early stages of FFA. Does FFA present with redness or pain around the area?
There are many possible causes of eyebrow loss. I suggest to see a dermatologist (if possible, a dermatologist who is specifically interested in hair disease)

I see no significant difference between the original and the generics that I have worked with

High DS antibodies is specific for SLE, depends on how high, you should discuss with your GP.
5 mg finasteride ,oral minoxidil 2.5 LDN1.5 mg
There are mixed opinions about the effectiveness of different treatments

Thanks Prof for your video..what is the substitute of finastride in female child bearing age
No substitute for the time before/during pregnancy Even topical finasteride is systemically absorbed and may be harmful in pregnancy
