I stayed in Asakusa for two weeks in March, and the location was spot on-easy metro and train access, minimal walking, and a straight shot to central Tokyo. Perfect for saving your legs when you’re already clocking miles daily. Food-wise, it’s a mixed bag. Asakusabashi had everything from hidden gems to places that were pretty disapointing (in Japanese standards). Pro tip: check Google reviews or follow the lines. If a restaurant is empty, it’s probably for a reason. Why risk it? If you are in hotel and feel hungry, take a walk to Asakusa or grab a ride to Nihonbashi for consistently amazing meals. That said, Asakusabashi wasn’t all bad. I found a taiyaki stand there that I hit up more times than I care to admit-because custard-filled fish pastries? Always a win. The area felt super safe too, though the guys outside certain izakayas at night, rocking earpieces, gave off serious Yakuza vibes. Or maybe they were just really into late-night podcasts. Who knows?
The two times I've gone to Tokyo, I stayed at the Tabist hotel near Asakusa. It's also a small business hotel, but it's very cheap and very close to Asakusa, Sky Tree, and a bunch of stations. A great staging place to get some sleep between the explorations! (And if you're lucky you could get a room with a view of the Sky Tree) Thank you for your livestreams! It's so great to re-visit familiar spots around Tokyo while waiting for the next trip.
We stayed at a hotel on the non-pink boat side of the canal at the start of the video, was a great location to get everywhere we wanted to go in Tokyo.
I stayed at Tosei hotel Cocone Kuramae last year and it was very easy to go everywhere. It has public baths too which is neat! Would recommend. Also direct line to Haneda is very convenient.
Watching this one a few days late, sorry! I'm pretty familiar with Asakusabashi because we've walked there from Akihabara and taken the train too. There's a wonderful hambagu restaurant across the street from the elevated train tracks that we always eat at, Meat Kitchen House Tomo,. And we go there for the arts and crafts stores, including a shop called Sakurahorikiri for sheets of washi paper and craft kits. You're right, it has such a different vibe from other more touristy places in Tokyo.
Aloha my brother. Great livestream! I'm always saying how much I enjoy your walking tours. Especially when there's food involved. Lol. Glad you found that delicious taiyaki to munch on. Have a great rest of your day my bro.
In Japan I stay in flex hotel chain. Best one is asakusabashi, great location mins from jr sobu line exit. Backup is the one in asakusa. It's not really in asakusa, closer to kuramae over the river. Both areas are excellent. In fact, there's a straight road from kuramae one to oktachimachi/ueno. 20 mins walk to Yamanote line, cheaper bars, restaurants etc.
It’s a down to earth alternative, convenient and cheap. One stop to the Yamanote and artery of Tokyo and love eating out, drinking here (back in the day).
Just got back from traveling Osaka, Kyoto👍🏽👍🏽got to visit Shogaku-Ji Temple, Hiranaka-Jinja Shrine, Honen-Ji Temple, Hiranaka-Jinja shrine, Kiyomizu Temple, Unjo Saryo museum Tea house, Nara-Suimoncho deer park😊the weather was amazing👌🏾 light jacket short🤙🏾 hiding back next year March to watch a Sumo Tournament in Osaka also we will spend time in Tokyo, Kyoto!!! Aloha from Kauai Hawaii 🤙🏾
This walk doesn’t look very interesting.. just buildings, shops, coffee..! Nothing about culture, people, art, museum, nature.. we are in autumn and we don’t see one color tree! I m very desapointed!

I've been to tokyo twice and my go to place to stay is asakusabashi. It's near akihabara and has many nice local restaurants.

Didn’t know that about darth Vader. So cool
27:40 looks really cool, but why did they wear 7 layers? =O

I tought that walking while eating is a no no in japan?
Big no-no? No, just don’t be rude about it. I didn’t drop anything and go to a crowded place. Use common sense, think of others around you 😉
