I thought PSU was outplaying ND for most of the game The PSU defensive guy falls down and leaves the WR wide open for an easy TD. Reynolds 2 INT leads to PSU points. Offend pass interference cancelled out an INT… the game was going PSU
Drew Allar has been playing bad all playoffs and you guys haven't mentioned it once. He threw for 50% vs a G5 team and SMU but I guess that doesn't do numbers like you talking about Quinn Ewers playing bad by going 20/30 with 4 TDs
Because it's been so long ago, no one has mentioned the "Luck of the Irish"! From yesterday years of Knute Rockne days to the '40's, '50's and up through the 1980's, Notre Dame had this persistent mystique, that when the chips were down, and the most impossible odds were against them, the Fighting Irish would somehow win the day! Even game announcers would be caught saying "Don't forget the luck of the Irish". Indeed Notre Dame fans and players had this faith of surmounting the impossible, and never losing hope! This mystique has notably died over the last four decades, as the landscape of college football changed. Now, in no way am I saying that Marcus Freeman's team is winning by "Luck"...these dudes are for real. But the win against Penn State sure reminded me of that old mentality that was (and perhaps will again be) the HERITAGE of ND football.
Actually most don't like Finebaum... A guy that has never played a down in his life but "talks" as if he was a GOAT. Talking head, why do we care what this guy says? Go Irish.
Why is no one talking about the back up quarterback taking Notre Dame down for a field goal before the half he actually swung the momentum gosh before that Notre Dame was hardly moving the ball and he came in smooth as a cucumber and took the Irish down the field to me, he swung the complete momentum of the game
On behalf of NOTRE DAME NATION - our issue with Brian Kelly is his poor character. We gave Kelly the benefit of doubt after the 2016 campaign & Kelly selfishly used it to build his plastic resume. Rockne is our winningest football coach with 88.1% win percentage & 3 Championships (1924, 1929, 1930) Kelly 74.6% Win Percentage & 0 Championships pales in comparison. Lou Holtz intentionally left Notre Dame before surpassing ROCKNE as an act of honor to keep history in tact - Coach Holtz will permanently remain one of Notre Dames historic coaches along with Knute Rockne, Frank Leahy, Ara Parseghian & Dan Devine
Wide receivers are the issue at Penn State. Finebaum does understand that Ohio and Michigan almost went to literal war right? He does understand that is the base that the rivalry is built on right?
Ultimately the coaches are tasked with putting the players in a position to succeed. Can't really blame Alar, you could see he wasn't good last night. Don't put him in the position to throw that pick.
I think the playoffs were made for teams like Ohio State. Unquestionably the best team in the country. A close loss to a great Ducks team and a mental block with the Wolverines would have kept them out of the 4 team playoffs. Penn State would have likely gotten in at number 4.
The Michigan ~ Ohio State Game can't be understood unless you are a Wolverine or a Buckeye. It's been this way since Woody Hayes & Bo Schembechler made it a War!
People want to see effort and grit! Blue collar like…in a team, any team particularly in a college football world where players are being paid! ND has players who play instead of opting out! That’s among the reason they are like able! As a life long fan, I see why they were hated “they have a have their own football contract”…but now there is more parity in college football and NIL has produced a player that cares more about being paid than winning…but NOT at ND !
Why does everyone keep bringing up the $20M NIL spend by OSU? They are the 4th highest spender. Texas and Oregon spent more yet no one EVER brings them up.
Every single game is determined by mistakes and how big they are. Pretty trashy to hang out the PSU QB out to dry and throughly disrespectful to dismiss ND so lightly
NOT SO FAST MY FRIEND.. hardcore football fans preferred college over the pros. There's a big difference in playing for an environment and a place then playing for a paycheck. College players choose to be where they're at. Professionals get drafted. Put all that on a scale and see which way the balance tips. I take college football over pros any day.
People will keep pushing this James Franklin big game narrative, but we all know that if they won then all of a sudden Notre Dame is not a big game/big win. The goalpost would move like always.
Drew Aller is getting the blame for Penn States loss, but it's Notre Dame performance that won the game. The IT pick w/ 33 seconds left was an amazing catch by a DB. If the sound was turned off, you would have thought he was the intended receiver. Sadly you guys focus on the loser and not talk about the winner
Bk from what I’ve seen and see…. Honestly find it hard seeing him winning big. Big game Brian… he may get you a good regular season and a spot in the post season but… after 12 yrs at ND and what 15 yrs of coaching before hand…. Bk is out of touch isn’t a players coach has no culture and that translates with recruiting and that’s if he’s the one recruiting his staff did most of the work at nd and freeman has won 3 big post season playoff games 2 being ny6 bowl games …. Freeman has done everything bk complained about in 3 yrs of head coaching period
Franklin cant really recruit or develop WRs.. no QB will succeed with just TE and RB help.. 10 years, 4 WR taken in the first two rounds of the draft..Penn state has a ceiling its never going to exceed.
PSU receivers held to -3 yards. 1st down on your own side of field with 40 seconds, tie game and a pass play that has all receivers running 20 yards down field including 3 within 7 yards of eachother. Should have kept running and if your not close enough for a field goal or have to punt, atleast you have OT yet. Franklin is a bonehead. Hasn't learned anything from his 1-18 record in big games.
It’s a stupid story line to pretend that Ryan Day was NOT on the hot seat. It is called The Game for a reason. He could win the national Championship this year- and he STILL has to beat Michigan next year. He has to.
you guys have said Notre Dame would lose to Indiana, UGA, and PennSt - your opinions are biased and incorrect. Not surprising considering you guys take....
The spread in this game was 1.5 in most books - that’s a toss up. Game was decided in last minute. If they played this one 10 times it’s a 5-5. Good for the Irish taking advantage of the turnover. Not sure this proves Franklin can’t win a big game….even though it feels that way today. Click bait and talking heads having fun today!!
Brian Kelly left ND because he wanted a large guaranteed contract. ND said no, so his agent put out the word and LSU gave him that guarantee. He was close to winning NC at ND and with his ego no way he didn’t think he could push them over the hurdle. He couldn’t say he left for the money but that is the reason he left ND.
😂😂😂 Kelly left because he knew he was a fraud and that ND had finally figured it out too. Swarbrick took forever but finally did what he should have done a while ago: he told Kelly he isn’t getting more money till he delivered first. If he didn’t like that, leave. And Kelly being the charlatan he is, knowing he didn’t have a mark any longer, left. He was never winning a title at ND and he knew it. And he will never win one at LSU.
Turnovers are huge and Penn State does just enough to lose this game. It seems like these games are too big for Penn State, and their QB’s seem to have turnovers in late game situations and against Teams with winning records. Franklin against teams with winning records just can’t win. Never has and never will! Good Coach but will never be a great coach! Because he seems to always lose against teams with winning records in the game that matter. Sorry for the Honesty! But the evidence is there for everyone to see! Sorry! It seems to me that Penn State had their best roster, and still doesn’t look like they are using their best players at the most important times in the game. It looks like Penn State does just enough to lose. And I’m a huge Penn State fan with Franklin just can’t win the big one never has and never will. Again I never thought we were going to win in the end, I think Penn State fans also know this to be true, you always think at the end of the game Franklin will find a way to lose the game!
True, but when you have the best TE in CFB and run for 200+ then can't you scheme up your WRs occasionally? Allar hit a couple of long bombs vs Boise that weren't wide open.
Had Cam Ward gone to Penn State they’d be undefeated and destined for a National Championship. Franklin is doing great with what he’s had to work with. They need a quarterback
Franklin is the one that recruited those players. So either he doesn’t know how to develop those highly sought after players or he’s just not that good of a coach.

The PSU defensive guy falls down and leaves the WR wide open for an easy TD. Reynolds 2 INT leads to PSU points. Offend pass interference cancelled out an INT… the game was going PSU
The ears on Paul. Good god
Drew Allar has been playing bad all playoffs and you guys haven't mentioned it once. He threw for 50% vs a G5 team and SMU but I guess that doesn't do numbers like you talking about Quinn Ewers playing bad by going 20/30 with 4 TDs
Beast Mode Run!
1:56 they said dude would be #1 in this draft drew allar Mel Kiper
Really?? I didn’t know Kiper picked Allar to be the #1 pick!
Well said my friend
Paul, maybe, just perhaps, the game with TTUN just means more?
Ultimately - judged by the result. Congratulations ND never backed down. Notre Dame for the win. ND - Texans for the championship.
Texas isn’t beating Ohio State
@ I’ll stand with ND / TX. Play ball. ✌️🏈
Allar was right about he should have thrown that away. He wanted to go to Warren but Rod Heard had him locked down.
Franklin has to play for overtime there. Instead, he made the same mistake Kirby did before the half.
Even taking a sack was better than a risky throw under pressure.
The Michigan ~ Ohio State Game can't be understood unless you are a Wolverine or a Buckeye. It's been this way since Woody Hayes & Bo Schembechler made it a War!
In all of that hate (for Notre Dame) is a lot of envy.
Said it live, PSU should have played for OT…ND kicking game is typically bad…was an easy deduction for me
ND has the best kicker in the CFP
6FG’s made in 3 CFP GAMES
It was bad because 98 was hurt most the year. Kid has a great leg.
@@chadmorlan7475actually I think he’s 7-8 in the playoffs and the one he missed was blocked
Yeah he’s not bad at all. He had an injury for a few weeks.
Brian Kelly couldn't win the big games but luckily he moved to Louisiana 😂
Go Irish ☘️☘️
Can anyone explain to me why James Franklin always has his daughters and his wife walking with the team?
Marcus Freeman is actually a quality dei hire..way to go irish
You're a f'ing idiot. That was not a dei hirs. Keep hating for today then shut up.
Ridiculous. How is he a DEI hire? He's been an achiever at every level of his life. He's been a rising star for some time. Yes......I'm a Buckeye.
Not to rub salt on Brian Kelly's wounds, but...NAAAA NAAAA NA NAAAA NAAAA!...
Why does everyone keep bringing up the $20M NIL spend by OSU? They are the 4th highest spender. Texas and Oregon spent more yet no one EVER brings them up.
majorkaos; Get your facts straight before you post. Google is your friend.
Because Ohio st. Spends as much on their coaching staff as they do on their players.
You may be saying the same thing tomorrow about Quin Ewers ! we shall see
Rudy, Rudy, Rudy...
People will keep pushing this James Franklin big game narrative, but we all know that if they won then all of a sudden Notre Dame is not a big game/big win. The goalpost would move like always.
Fun part is Franklin got crushed. The goal post didn’t move he got smoked by notre dame lil bro state
Really.. fire Franklin after this season. These are aholes. Every team except winner loses their last game!!
I hate ND because growing up only had 1 channel and ABC. ND was always on and I wanted to watch so many other teams.
Stop talking about Brian Kelly. We're done with him!
Osu paid 2x -10x everyone else in nil... So they shoudk win they bought a team essentially
Let’s go Irish ☘️
Everyone thinks ohio st just beat Texas and can't be game. Talent is the same on both teams. But ohio st don't fight when down
Coach freeman is no Jim harbaugh
All Paul does is hate on coaches no matter what.
Matt, you said that You like Brian Kelly. You just lost all credibility.
Barrie, you are total wimp!!
ND win it all to shut the mouth of the ESPN bias!
Franklin out.. Doug Peterson in! Please!
Yea from the guy who picked Georgia to win.
Allar has shown time and again he is not a great qb Franklin is responsible for this. He is a good coach, not great and he will never be elite .
Brian Kelly left ,enough said…
Brian Kelly left ND because he wanted a large guaranteed contract.
Are you guys that clueless? They need some receivers that can produce separation.
True, but when you have the best TE in CFB and run for 200+ then can't you scheme up your WRs occasionally? Allar hit a couple of long bombs vs Boise that weren't wide open.
Singleton dropped TD was the difference in the game. Why is nobody talking about that?
Or the last bs pi call !!!
