the nylon stoppers were on the stanchions limiting the suspension quite a bit. Those should be removed first thing. Stock pads are poop! I didn't feel in control of the wheel at all with stock pads.
Cheers for the tips Jonah! What's the purpose of the stoppers? to dampen and quiet the bottom out? The surface didn't look great for attaching custom pads, did you need a fairing plate? ta, Jono
@@jonoeuc Not really sure what the purpose is :-D You can either attach velcro directly to the battery boxes or get a fairing plate or just make your own. I recommend the Grizzla fairings and bumpers though.
Thanks, John. Don't know if that's got the same tire as the Patton, but I find that the Patton wanders a bit at higher-speed road riding and this feels quite disconcerting. It's better at slower speeds and on trails. The Master feels more stable at speed.
Hey Arevee, great to know. Yeah it felt a bit unfair given the test conditions. But I'm guessing lots of riders are street riders so hopefully still useful commentary. I was originally planning to ride out to the trails and back but the battery drained super fast. It was going to be ~65km (40miles) round trip. So I had to cut it short. Here is the Tire info! Nice job, Jon! Have you been on the V14 2nd batch yet? I think im leaning Extreme, but waiting for thoughts on 2nd batch V14. Thanks for all you do, bud.
cheers yeah I recently had a really quick ride on a V14. unsure of the batch. I liked it, very comparable to the patton. My impression is that the extreme and patton are a tougher design if you're beating em up on trails. The suspension was very plush and far more linear than I was expecting. The air suspension when I tried the extreme wasn't setup for me so felt terrible. I haven't put in the hours on a 16" so can't comment too much. hope that helps
I smoothly landed on both hands, the wheel as freespin for one second emptying the capacitors, lucky that the fuses blown and not the board ! th-cam.com/users/shorts27y41SdodPE?feature=share @jonoeuc
I wanted the extreme but Im holding out for the bigger more advanced road wheel. How is the lynx? Not sure if I want comander gt. Hoping for a new ex30 vwrsion with smart boms better battery.
The Lynx is delayed until the new year sadly. But I'm really enjoying the Sherman S with the Off-road K262 back on it. So I don't really mind. Looks like you're chasing the Begode power?! Ideally i'd have a cruiser wheel (Lynx or Sherman S similar) and a smaller wheel but just have to pick one atm since they're pricey.
i want a lynx but worried about suspension maintenance because you have to tear the wheel apart and spend a bunch of money when it starts leaking, do you think that will be a problem? @@jonoeuc
I feel sorry for the people who fell for the hype from all the other TH-camrs who put commission money before ethics. And if I was a was a reseller I would limit begode sales to later batches as all that early warranty work will eat away at the profit and manhours.
indeed, E-Riderz doesn't stock all Begode wheels due to the many variations. It's something else to get my hands on these to ride and get firsthand experience.
Setting the rebound and pumping the shock up to suit your weight makes ALL the difference. If you have the spring shock, the same goes but you adjust it differently, as well as making sure the sag is about 25-35%. Shitting on the wheel without setting it up makes zero sense. I’m 6’4” and 250 pounds and suspension is pretty damn good. I ride dirt and street and I have my tire set at 32 psi and feels great. Do you have a 40 T battery model? If I average 25 to 30 miles an hour on a ride I get 60 mile range with the 50 E batteries.
Hey Reno, good points. It's unfortunate the suspension setup didn't happen which did impact my opinion. But it does highlight the need for tinkering with air suspension. meaning it's more maintenance and less 'get on and go'. Speaking of which, how often do you need to top up the air if you have the air shock? I also heard the rubber stops need to be removed from the sliders? It is the 50E battery. My battery drain was very fast. It makes me wonder why as well. Good to hear you're getting better range. 30mph (48kmh) avg riding speed seems impossible to get that much range!? That'd be 40Wh/mile ( 25Wh/km) Cheers Jono
@@jonoeuc The first time I pumped up my shock, it lost about 30psi in a few weeks. After that, it held for over a month, without losing any. I haven’t checked it for about a month now. I do believe mine is leaking a little oil now. Ali-express has the 900 and 1300 pound springs for $150 US dollars for both. Wheel Good Time has the 1300 pound spring and said it’s nice. I don’t believe the rubber stops should be removed. They make sure that if you do bottom out, you don’t do damage. Because the air shock can lose air(and oil), I have left mine in. I’m 250 pounds and I do small curb jumps and other small jumps and don’t bottom out with my shock set at 230psi and my rebound knob turned all the way counter-clockwise. I don’t do bigger jumps because I don’t want to shear off the motor mounts. I’ve only seen that happen to one person and he is bigger like me but rides much harder and takes 4-6 foot drops. I have noticed that if I start with a full battery it drains slower than if I start at 75%. Also there is very noticeable battery sag that makes you think you are lower than you are while riding and returns if you stop for a few minutes. I rode in 30° F(-1° C) the other day and thought I was gonna be walking. My battery was down to 25% after a few miles when I started at 65%. I backed off and rode at 15-20 miles and hour and after 15 miles and warming up the wheel I was at 29% battery. I do believe my range is longer because I stop every 5-10 miles because of fatigue or to have a smoke break. Looking at my stats I would say I average closer to 25mph. I love my Extreme, I have put 1700 miles on it in 2 1/2 months of riding, but I will probably get the Lynx soon. I believe the 50S batteries are much better for higher speed riding. There are so many factors(flat/hilly/heavy/light/wind/cold/hot/drag) that affect battery levels, it’s hard to compare experiences with others. I tend to ride fast in the beginning and slower after 50-60% remains. Stay safe and keep the videos coming :)
Hello, good morning, I'm thinking about my next EUC, currently riding a V12Ht with a street tire (it's very good) but I want to level up, 134v and have a suspension. My options are Patton, Extreme, Commander mini. I just need to see your point of view on the latter and I think I will solve my doubts. Thank you for your content, greetings from Argentina 🇦🇷
Hi Mat, apologies but I won't be testing the EB Commander Mini since E-Riderz isn't bringing any into Australia. The suspension will be nice change for sure. cheers jono
The patton build quality is a big factor for me. Easier to fit pads too. I'd tip towards the extreme for jumping and trail use due to 35kg vs 40. It also has more suspension travel. You're likely to spend more time tinkering with the suspension though. There was a thread on electric unicycle forum highlighting some issues. i link it in the extreme video description. The V14 is much the same and seems decent. I haven't ridden one myself.
Hey Sam, I'm not sure. I can't find a picture of the rim and based on this post someone managed tubeless with a michelin street tire. the 12" rim seems to make it difficult to seal the valve. facebook.com/share/p/p3pKZKUs1Z5Uz93Q/
Hi Marco, my preference is the S19. It was easy to meld with and enjoy the chill cruising ride. simple. Have you seen my KS19 review? it may help show you what I mean. Stepping down to the smaller rim of the Extreme changes the feel. Less stable and planted at speed. May I suggest considering the KS S22Pro (although heard it can have lots of issues) Otherwise the Leaperkim Lynx, that's my new wheel.
Possibly but I reckon changing the pedals from Hard mode to Medium would be significant. Also if I had the suspension sag set properly. Next time I'll see if I have time to setup the air shocks on the test wheels.
