Since this is the Stylebender community I’m just gonna let it all out here. This loss fucking hurt as a fan. Following Izzy for a longtime even in his kickboxing days, I’ve wanted to see him do all he can and more in the sport. GSP is my favorite all time fighter and I used to be a wreck with anxiousness before his fights. I couldn’t properly enjoy watching the win until the day after the fight. I had other fighters I liked and supported and when they lost it sucked but it was on to the next. When GSP more or less retired I felt like I could watch fights without an anxiousness because as a kyokushin practitioner he was what got me into the sport as a kid. He was my idol. When Izzy came along I really admired watching him and as an anime fan felt a since of kinship with him. He’s been unapologetically himself and very open and vulnerable. He’s not perfect, nor does he try to be but there was something about his style of striking that was captivating. Izzy really was next level coming into the UFC. When he lost to Alex that sucked. He came back and did the damn thing though. When he lost to Strickland I thought his body has just been through too much with no rest. The lost to Dricus I thought was very avoidable. Izzy was making mistakes I didn’t think he normally would. I don’t know what the future holds for him. This is a weird and unfamiliar place for him but regardless he’s still the 2nd greatest MW to ever do it and he elevated the sport with Kamaru and Francis. The era of the 3 kings was something special. This is a sport where because it is individual occupation we follow the journeys of singular martial artists and become attached to their journey. Their hopes and dreams. We celebrate when they do and often hurt when they do. We find ourselves caring about people we haven’t and may never meet, but we still care. Whatever you decide to do Izzy, your true fans are lifting our hands up and gathering our energy for you. 🏆🇳🇬

@streetplaya23 South Africa isn’t the only place in Africa, most places in Africa don’t have that opportunity, so people leave and come back after they’ve found places that have those opportunities
I miss the Adesanya, that did not need words to fight, his ability spoke the volumes. Humility, is key. Unfortunately ego has grown, and the weakness it manifested in your spirit is evident. Unfortunately ego is the enemy of all warriors. Have not seen a single mma warrior master ego and remain the overall master. No masters, no grandmasters. Just misguided ego. You Adesanya had the true warrior spirit, and got caught up in ego. Rid yourself of ego, master your skill and become a true master again. I believe i see the pillars in you.
You got that spot on. Buh i think Khabib and GSP mastered their egos and kept it in check. You could say Khabib couldn't bear to continue checking the ego and retired out

I hate to say this because I like Izzy, but I feel like after finally beating Alex, he lost his competitive nature… he proved to himself that he could overcome “the boogey man” and now he doesn’t have anything pushing him to be greater. He’s plateaued… Don’t get me wrong he will always be great, but him being okay with losses and not wanting to get them back just prevents him from reaching his true potential… imho He seems to be at a good place in life right now though so that trumps this fight game I’m sure. Props to him for that. I can imagine it’s tough to keep a level head in his shoes.
I have been feeling so sad since Saturday night after the fight, but seeing Izzy in great spirit has really eased my sadness . Thanks for the memories Izzy!

After we puked every week training in coach’s garage and running around the suburban block we used to discuss our local EFC competition and how the fighters weren’t fit to even clean the floors at UFC. and idolising YOU specifically…after this fight everyone learned a lot. But most of all both of you taught/are teaching the world unity. In a time when it is sorely needed. In true African style we take our hidings, build the callus and move on. One more thing brother. I've always been a fan of yours for the incredible martial artist you are, but also your geeky, goofy side. I HATED the whole narrative before the fight because I'm a white South African but I love my country, continent and people to the core. It really hurt my heart. that round 2/3 where dricus started falling for your feints was vintage stylebender. You still look like you have so much to give in this sport. Rest up and we go again champ. WE'RE ALL WITH YOU.
Bruuuuuh. This is legit the best he looked since he knocked out Robb a couple years ago. It was so mesmerizing seeing him attack ddps body tryna get him to drop guard. It was amazing seeing him show a game plan and some intentional striking. The boy has a title run in him, I swear
Agreed. By feints, I think the OP means Izzy was getting DDP to raise his arms/hands to protect his head and Izzy delayed his follow up to his jab to hit DDP’s body. He was doing this well in round 3 and very early in round 4. Then DDP rocked him and that was that. Felt like Izzy didn’t throw enough combinations through the fight, because when he did, he looked good and gave DDP more to think about. Perhaps he was a bit too circumspect and concerned about being stuck in the pocket/void with DDP for too long.
Well done izzy - we live in a world of dualism where there's winning in losing and losing in winning. There's beauty in it all. Win or Lose Izzy is still my champ. Nothing will ever take away my love for Izzy❤. It's through him I found UFC and MMA in general. Mad love from Nairobi, Kenya ❤
This fight exposed Adesanya's limitations. Great (incredible) kickboxer but when he faces someone who can stand up to that who also has solid grappling and the strength to take him down and keep him down, he struggles. Jan Blachowicz would be the other evidence of that. I guess if he is really serious about coming back and defeating DDP he's going to have to work on that. Also his defense is suspect against strikers at his level - as his three defeats to Pereira in kickboxing + one in MMA will attest. I think he would be so much better if he worked on his humility and recognized these weaknesses and developed these areas. I think if he does he has every chance of coming back and dominating again.
@yudajd9665 You're lying to yourself lmafo. Absolutely delusional. Izzy would've 100% taunted DDP and clowned him. Insane cope to think he would've been respectful.
@@sixoseven5623 I asked you something, when has he ever been disrespectful at a end of fight win or lose? I was honest and gave an example Costa and we all know why. Name yours and be objective. If you don't have any then shut up rather than talking nonsense.

Love him or hate him if you call yourself a true fan of mixed martial arts you have to respect what Izzy has accomplished in this sport. Say what you want but it's going to be a very sad day in MMA when this legend calls it a career. Enjoy him while he's here because there will never be another fighter quite like "The Last Stylebender". Massive respect to Izzy & DDP. It was an absolute pleasure to watch that epic clash between two of the greatest African warriors the sport has ever seen.
My favorite part was after the fight u two hugged it out like true warriors. I wish to see more fighters showing their opponents respect. Adesanya you are incredible to watch and have been a blessing to the sport. Thanks for everything my guy, i wish you nothing but prosperity and joy in life.
Stylebender comes back after a lay off and puts on one of the best title fights I've ever seen. The UFC's resident bar setter. Keep going and I will keep watching!
Izzy's biggest weakness IMO is not mixing things up. You are the most technical stand up fighter in the UFC, even more technical than Alex Pereira (who closes the technical gap with you with power), but what I think can make you more dangerous is mixing things up. Mixing things up makes it hard for fighters to fully commit their gameplan. Whether it is a clinch game, some takedowns, more use of knees and elbows etc. Just something that will add a bit more confusion to their rhythm. Yes I think CKB has paved the way with feinting, and you employ great stance switching, and you can fight outside the centre or within it, and you are great at setting traps, but I think when going up against these guys that know how to mix things up, you need a bit more to keep them guessing. Being purely technical against this guy can be tricky, because they will make the fight dirty/ugly.
@@Electiger-y5k I said IMO. I never said I was right. Though it is in fact true that MOST of the best coaches in the world, across all sports were not the best in the practical side of their sport. Eugene Bareman was NOT one of the best in MMA. I don't claim to be in the same boat, but my point is, the notion that there is some sort of 1:1 translation about being the elite fighter and capable of giving advise is nonsensical. Izzy even gets advise from his dad!
Your on point with this. Izzy gets the belt back if he can be more dynamic. At 35 though, idk if it’s possible. He definitely trains grappling but I don’t think he has put it to the test enough under the bright lights
Very impressed with the way Izzy handled the loss, like a true champ would handle it, respect man, you will be back, I think you looked good until that mistake that ended it.

Who thinks Izzy needs a trip to Dagestan and get his grappling up ? Similar to belal? He is not a complete fighter and most of his losses are due to this hole in grappling
Grappling played a part but strickland he never could hit him on the feet, pereira hurt his legs leading to a finish, and izzy didnt exited sloppily which led to the RNC
Jan outwrestled him, Potan TKOd him, Sean beat the living shit outta him on the feet for 5 rounds, ddp submitted him. So only 2 of his 4 losses were from grappling.

What about GSP?

I hate to say this because I like Izzy, but I feel like after finally beating Alex, he lost his competitive nature… he proved to himself that he could overcome “the boogey man” and now he doesn’t have anything pushing him to be greater. "Falling for feints" is such a narrative repeated from the commentators
Bruuuuuh. This is legit the best he looked since he knocked out Robb a couple years ago. It was so mesmerizing seeing him attack ddps body tryna get him to drop guard. It was amazing seeing him show a game plan and some intentional striking. The boy has a title run in him, I swear
When did he ever fall for a feint lol
No we're not! We're never with racists that pretend to be victims

It's insane how insecure is this blck boi!
who da fook is that guy
Ok keyboard coach

What a gent!!! You're a STAR my brother! Well done! What a beautiful career...I've been watching you from kick-boxing days to MMA. What you've done cannot be taken lightly! Thoroughly satisfied by your existence as a fighter. I've gotten many sleepless nights waiting for your fights, goosebump entrances, impeccable performances (incl. vs Dricus). You did your thing and still more to come I'm sure! Thank You!!!

The GOAT of MIDDLEWEIGHT...THE LAST STYLE BENDER..

@@aurora-uh9sr well i watched him fight .. its all about perspective rather .. no doubt he is stilll on the longest streak .. but for me stylebender no doubt ..
@@aurora-uh9sr Adesanya weight bullied hahaha did you not see the size difference when he fought costa ? guy was stick in that division even when he went too 205 to face Jan he was well below the 205 limit which was the first time ever in a title fight aside from heavyweight so dont talk waka my boy.
