Maybe Moody “pre-interviewed” for the position with Nugget behind your back to make sure he would be the perfect fit for the 40. I’m sure Peaches and Nugget will give you the whole story at the next monthly staff meeting. It’s wonderful how harmonious your animals are together! And FYI- Fresh cranberries are the best! 😀
Brooke and Jason you just made my Sunday morning. Noticed your video so just finished watching. I get a chuckle with you guys your so honest and straight forward just love you guys. Have a great Sunday and the coming week. Take care. 🇨🇦
I am afraid Moody will be lonely and upset no being able to see you and get to the outer most fence for neck rubs - he is so social with animals and especially his human family.
Oh my goodness, you all have done so much in such a short time, it is amazing! Please don't apologize that it doesn't look like the little Cog Hill, I bet it took a lot of time to look like it did. I think it will be a lot of fun to see the Cog Hill 40 get it's charm little by little. We all know it will be charming with you all fixing it up. Actually you brought a lot of the charm with you which is all your animals and added charming Moody!
Y’all do what you gotta do. It’s not just the place I’m watching, it’s your family!!! The progress is the most fun and being here for the start of it all is absolutely AWESOME!!!! I love you guys. Don’t let the nay sayers ever get you down. You have way more loyal fans out here than them. Your Canadian fan Sam 😀🇨🇦🦫
A perfect use for all the concrete blocks ... the potage garden!!! I've seen several youtube videos on using them for raised beds without masoning them together!!!
Check out the TH-cam channel Fy Nyth to see raised beds using cement blocks. She moved her tiny house and all the blocks to set up the raised beds in the new acreage.
2 cans of Ocean Spray Cranberry Sauce with whole Cranberries, 1 can drained crushed Pineapple, 1 lg box Strawberry Jello, (sub 2 cup of cranberry 7Up or Ginger Ale for cold water) 1.5 cups chopped Pecans. Make Jello per instructions, after gels....mix in other ingredients then chill at least one hour.
That updating on the web site sounds so cool ! Brooke you need to get that recipe from your mama along with other favorite of yours and share some with us and believe me when i say from experience when you no longer have your mama you will crave her foods and wish that you would have gotten the recipes from her . They will never taste as good as when your mama made them for you but they'll still be good and make you think of her.
True I made cornbread dressing and my oldest daughter said several times... this doesn't taste like grandma's dressing, finally her sister said "it's Mom's dressing!" That shut her up 😂
So true. I have my mothers recipe boxes and they mean so much to me. Family favorites passed down through generations are so special. For Thanksgiving we had moms sweet potato casserole, cranberry sauce and my grandmothers fruit salad. So special!
Trust me! You really need to learn how to make that salad. I'm that way about all of my "family recipes". I did not get a couple, and I had to figure them out. That was hard and is very close, but not exactly right. You will want to pass those on to Mary Carl some day.
Nugget probably knew moody was the cool kid on the block. The new cool kid and knew he wanted to be friends right off the start lol 😂 and he can sense out things and I am sure since moody is so chill and laid back and just fit right in he was perfectly fine with it.
I think u guys opening peoples gifts is like I’d rather give than recieve..the look on their faces when they see what u have gotten them just warms my heart..I love giving!!
Have y’all thought of contacting The Arbor Day Foundation in regards to trees? You can get one and two year old trees, and they will deliver them at the perfect time for planting, you just have to dig the holes!
Love watching your family open all the gifts you receive. The best part is the signs that you get, the best is all the ones for Mary Karl and her chickens!!!! God Bless your family.
Donna and Jason me too. Can you believe I was the only one in my family that ate cranberry sauce... well this Thanksgiving all my adult children tasted it and loved it. Amazing 🤩
Here is a recipe for your daughter... one bag of whole cranberries, one large container of cool whip, one cup of crushed pineapple drained, one cup of sugar one cup chopped walnuts or pecans your choice. Place rinsed and drained cranberries in food processor and chop on pulse. Then in a sealable bowl mix pineapple, sugar, and cranberries and place in fridge over night then in the morning add your nuts and cool whip with the cranberry ,sugar and pineapple mix. Enjoy.

Thank you! I was sitting here thinking something wasn’t right lol. My Grandmother used to make Waldorf Salad for the holidays and I remember sitting there cutting 🍎 apples.

Now hold on here, I’m a Kansas girl and have never heard of a Congealed Salad- or else we called it something else. But here, our Waldorf Salad has mainly Apples, celery, mayonnaise, walnuts, grapes, but it was the WATERGATE Salad that had the Pistachio pudding, marshmallows and Pineapples- and maybe some cottage cheese to make it “healthy”! So what’s a Congealed Salad???
Congealed may be a regional description, ours was called Cranberry Jello Salad, it didn't have Cool Whip but was same type of ingredients. My mom was from the South but I think names were assigned based on what kids would eat. There is an old style congealed salad molded with meats and unflavored gelatin. Blessings Jan
My son learned Mason in High school, but to be qualified he is currently going to Masonry school program where he goes to school three tines when he gets his hours then writes his Gov't Red Seal. It's a really physical job and I'm proud of him 😊
I'm proud for your son and you. He will always be able to find work with a guaranteed good salary. I believe it was one of the main mistakes that our school systems made when they eliminated basic skills classes. There will always be a great need for these skilled workers. 😊
Waldorf Salad is apples, nuts, celery, etc. Watergate Salad has Pistachio pudding, crushed pineapple, cream cheese or cottage cheese, cool whip, nuts. Just saying! Am a dedicated watcher. Love y'all.
I can’t wait to see the beautiful hydrangeas and that climbing rose and your fig trees go in your special places you choose, but I know it’s gonna take time. It’s amazing how much y’all have accomplished with everything you have planned and I can see it coming together quicker than you probably realize just because I’m not there everyday like y’all are.❤️👍🙏🇺🇸 much love to all
I really enjoy your zest for life. It lifts my spirit to see you enjoy receiving the gifts people send. And I love the way you relate to your animals. You are a beautiful family. Stay well. Love you.
My husband likes the canned cranberry sauce. I have made a cranberry relish with 2 apples cored and ground, 1 orange peeled and ground, cranberries ground and ground walnuts in strawberry jello. mix and jell in the fridge. YUM!!
Love the new intro!! I'm with MaryCarl, I love the ridged cranberry sauce; try it on toast with cream cheese!! FYI, my friend had concrete countertop and she would not do it again - it was not maintenance-free.
I think the congealed salad (pink), my sister made it for the holidays. She called it the Pink Stuff. She lost her recipe. I told her to goggle it. Lynn said that wasn’t possible since she didn’t know what it was called. I told her to goggle in recipes “pink stuff”…sure enough it was listed as Pink Stuff!
I don't know about anyone else but giving is so much more fun.I love to seeing others receive then getting things myself. Seeing your faces and MC gets so excited on seeing it all; makes a warm feeling in your heart seeing the joy and surprise. I can't wait till I am able to send something. I know you ask for nothing it is just so much fun giving.
Whoever said watching you open the gifts gives them ideas for presents is right!;Our granddaughter and her husband bought an almost 40 acre place this past year...you have no idea how the gift opening helped me this year. That's where the prayer flags went too. Thank you Cog Hill. PLUS watching you guys be surprised is FUN too. Now if I just had Brook to drench their cable trench. LOL
Your place is gorgeous and most of us know it will take time to do everything y’all want to do. You all are incredible and I can hardly wait to see everything you intend on doing to give this place your touch of magic!
Y’all are a wonderful family, love watching your videos and podcasts. So down to earth and so relatable to so many. I love the way you love your animals.
I'm looking forward to watching you grow and seeing the improvements. Some people just have a problem with change. Don't sweat it. You guys are awesome.
I'm so excited for your new website. You should make a cookbooks or a calendar (not adding more on your plate). We look forward to your podcast and video. I've been a little depressed and you guys are my light. Thank you for all you do. God bless
You might use the blocks to make raised beds. They don't rot and don't weep things that you don't want in your food. Also, make sure to make a drawing of where you place the different utility lines on the "40" so that you will not have to go by memory only as to where they are. Also, when the next generation inherits the farm, they will know where they are.
I like cranberry sauce! When I used to cook daily, I frequently served cranberry sauce or pickled beats as a side dish to add color to the dinner. We ate it year round.
I am so glad ya’ll have such a beautiful relationship! Praise God. Your animals thrive because ya’ll talk to them and love on them! Marycarl is such a sweetheart, too! I am so glad there were no water leaks! 🦋🐄🐓🐖🐮🐢🐈😍😍😍 G Ma Lois in MN.
Do you guys enjoy watching mary carl opening birthday or christmas presents? Even if you've not bought them? I think the answer is probably yes, and id say thats probably a good equivalent to how your viewers feel watching you guys open gifts sent to you either by them or other viewers. 😍 awesome podcast xx
Love the big Cog 40. It is a work in progress and so impressive with all you have done. Love the chicken and pigeon areas. All your loving touches will come and we can’t wait to watch it all happen. Love to hear that this new way is so much more efficient.
Don't worry about how it looks right now. We know you have a vision of where you are going. I love seeing the progress and appreciate your putting on 5 installments a week to take us along. Great fun. Thanks for sharing. Becky from Kansas City
I'm glad to hear Mary Carl is wearing a mask inside the pigeon coop. That is a real disease that my father-in-law passed away from. The doctor called it "Pigeon Breeder's Lung. He raised pigeons for years in the loft of his barn. He loved squab so he would crawl around inside to catch the baby pigeons and he didn't protect himself. It's no joke.
🙋♀️I clean houses for my living, and have cleaned many different types of counter tops, my two favorites are Quartz, man made Sila Stone, or natural quartz slabs (non porous, so won't stain from foods like tomatoe sause, or wine). Corian is my other favorite, but not with the built in sinks(problems with small cracks around drains, which then stain). You may love the l👁👁k of marble Jason but DON'T let it's beauty fool you, stains SUPER easily, so NEVER use it in kitchens or bathrooms!!! Also, granite is also porous, and will stain( many folks got on the granite bandwagon several years ago, along with shiny stainless steel appliances 🤦♀️)
My mom was an avid baker and swore by marble when working her pastry as the marble keeps the pastry cold/cool.This she learnt from her mother in turn. Mom would have been 100 on 21 Dec this year!
@@lorainewhite727 Oh yes, I know marble has been used for making candy and other things, and for cheese plates because of it's cool smooth surface, and I am sure people using it were mindful of it's propensity to stain easily.
Good morning Jason and Brooke! Its so nice to have a Sunday podcast from Cog Hill. Mary Carl I love jellied cranberry on my turkey sandwich with dressing, In fact I can't eat turkey without cranberry. Brooke, your smile goes ear to ear when you talk about Moody. I am so happy that Moody is happy and he is thriving, he gets good food but lots of cuddle and love from Brooke and Jason! Nugget, Peaches and Moody are loving their new farm. Thank you for another great podcast, you made my Sunday perfect! Have a great week head, stay well and safe! ❤🙏❤ puppy kisses to All the pups!💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋
i like the canned cranberries also. But the kind with marshmellows is wonderful. Never have made it though. you all are getting so much done. I think Nugget worries about you petting Moody and is jealous a bit. They are so cute love to watch them and all of your pets. Every thing looks great and so happy for you all!!!

Thank you Pam! I’m going to be making this.
I make this but without the pineapple and I use celery minced at the same time as the cranberries and nuts.
Me too. Thank you Pamela!

Congealed = gelatine and mix-ins.
Jello made in a mold bowl like with all kinds of fruits nuts
We called it Ambrosia ... (Watergate)
Congealed may be a regional description, ours was called Cranberry Jello Salad, it didn't have Cool Whip but was same type of ingredients.
My mom was from the South but I think names were assigned based on what kids would eat.
There is an old style congealed salad molded with meats and unflavored gelatin.

He raised pigeons for years in the loft of his barn. He loved squab so he would crawl around inside to catch the baby pigeons and he didn't protect himself. It's no joke.
What is squab??
@@laurenandreas5950 Young pigeons. He said they were considered a delicacy in fancy restaurants. I tried them once. I didn't like it.
@@lorainewhite727 Oh yes, I know marble has been used for making candy and other things, and for cheese plates because of it's cool smooth surface, and I am sure people using it were mindful of it's propensity to stain easily.
it's like Christmas for every body! People like to see what others get!!!! the excitement of the mystery of it.
