Found this after a wonderful ‘Activate your Life’ away day. The leader singer Sue Rinaldi, led our day in beautiful worship. I was a child of the 80’s and age 12 years when this reached the Top 30! It’s incredible to think that this message reached the mainstream UK charts - it’s brilliant! LOVE the outfits too, super cool! You’ve still got a beautiful gifting from High 🕊️ What a legacy!
Remember having their Album - The Winner, Played this track over over. Only recently discovered this again, always thought this should have done much better in the charts. In my opinion this was a great track
Now this brings back memories of taping the Top 40 not long after it moved to a sunday slot in 1987. Luckily, I caught this during the countdown as a new entry at No.32 which is where it remained for 1 more week before falling out of the 40. I think they followed this up with a track called "The Winner" which flopped!
Just thoughts as I'm watching this again in 2014 - many years later, as we've all matured, I don't think there would be smiles at certain points in the lyrics, as integrity/integration of mind, body, soul and spirit has gone deeper - certainly in me - and I think in Sue too. Must have been a bit difficult singing on TOTP
@@DaveInYateley - This was the first ever episode to be broadcast via BBC Radio 1 in stereo of TOTP. Unfortunately, BBC Four won't repeat this episode because Mike Smith co-presented it. You must (or must've) live in London or Kent? The radio broadcast was from the Wrotham transmitter in Kent, which at the time covered London as well.
@@andrewsmith2757 yes. I lived in Gillingham in Kent at the time. I was in the lower end of yhe town which resulted in a poor reception. You can hear it in the noisy audio! As to if I have the entire show - back in the day I was more picky in what I recorded and used to edit out the songs I found less interesting at the time. If I find I have all the show I'll let you know.
@@DaveInYateley - I can give you a complete track listing of this episode. The FM noise doesn't bother me too much. It was first broadcast on 5th Nov 1987 and the track listing was: "T’Pau - “China In Your Hand” George Harrison - “Got My Mind Set On You” Heartbeat - “Tears From Heaven” Freddie Mercury & Montserrat Caballe - “Barcelona” Whitesnake - “Here I Go Again" The Communards - “Never Can Say Goodbye” Eric B & Rakim - “Paid In Full” The Bee Gees - “You Win Again” Was (Not Was) - “Walk The Dinosaur”. It was Mike Smith and Janice Long presenting. I hope this helps. I can't believe anyone had the brains in 1987 to do this. They only started the stereo simulcasts properly in Sep 1988.

Came here after reading an old Smash Hits article with the Pet Shop Boys - Chris Lowe said this was his most hated song of 1987 😂

Ah, good memories :D
Que Hermoso Tema De Lo Mejor Del New Romantic 1987
RIP Ray Goudie
Seems almost surreal that they went Top 40 six years after their wonderful debut. B-side called 'Heartbeat' was an incredible tune.
One of the best pop songs from the CCM scene

The competition was pretty stiff then, so many big names!!
It's a pity we had to wait for another 10 months for permanent nationwide stereo simulcasts from BBC Radio 1.
Do you have the whole of this episode in stereo?
I'll have to check as its been a while since I put this up on TH-cam.
@@DaveInYateley - Thank you. Please let me know.
