my paraplegic grandfather drove a 70 Toronado. the flat floor made it easy to load the wheel chair behind the driver seat. coming home from a fishing trip on a Saturday afternoon the car did not sound right and after few miles pulled over. my younger brother (12 yrs) saw that the car had no tire on the rear. a good samaritan saw the dilemma and changed the tire. awesome car.
Let's face it . When the Honda Civic came out in the early 1970s it put the American autos to shame , including everything Ford, GM , and Chrysler could produce with being economical and outlasting them by a least twice as long. That's when Japanese vehicles began to overtake the American made vehicles and now Toyota and Honda are the number one and two car companies in the world.
What was not spoke about was the over whelming government power of the EPA & insurance company's restrictions in the early 70s that forced them to cut compression from 11 to 1, to around 8 to1 because hi octain gas was taken off the market and insurance costs to buy a new car were through the roof on any kind of a performance car. Add to that all car companies got away from forged cranks & rods completely that in turn limits rpm to around 6,000 rpm max with a cast iron crank & rods.
My first car when I was in high school was a 1980 Chevy Monza notch back red with red wheel covers and red interior. It was a 3.8 V6 3 speed automatic a/c car. My brother purchased it for 100 bucks in 1990 with with 118,000 miles on it. The car was mint in and out. The guy he brought it from said it is a great vehicle everything works but it needs a transmission. He brought it, took it to a transmission shop and 350 dollars he got a rebuild trans. In 1992 he sold it to me for 100 bucks Great car took it everywhere. Drove it until 1994. Sold for a thousand bucks with 138,000 miles on it. The car looked like it just rolled of the assembly line. Other than the trans the car never was towed and gave us no troubles. 3 months after I sold it to this lovely couple it was stolen and stripped right out of their driveway. In my book the Monza was a great car.
I honestly don’t know where you got the idea about the Monza. It was my very first car and I had a lot of fun driving that thing. I got it brand new in 1980 and got six years out of it. I used to take it on the highway and it seemed pretty peppy to me. When I traded it in, and I told the dealer I got 107K miles out of it, he was reasonably impressed, saying that they were only good for 75,000 miles at the most. But I took good care of it, had the oil changed every 3000 miles and did my maintenance on it
That green AMC Gremlin brought back memories for me. I bought mine used with only 29k miles on the 304 engine. I swapped that engine for the 390 out of my J-10 Jeep P/U. It ran with the “Big Dogs” for another 116k miles, before I turned it into a full fledge drag car in the early 80s, with a tube frame and a Chevy 427 with tunnel ram and Enderle fuel injection “hat”. I’d still be racing it to had I not blown a tire at 160+ mph, totaling it…!
Many car enthusiasts will argue that 74-78 Mustang II was the right car at the right time and that it somehow saved the Mustang line as a whole.from being discontinued by the Ford Motor Company in Detroit.
Thank you. These are my favorite year Mustangs because they were different. All the ones before and after it have been done in so many ways that nothing is unique. There's so many of them that they've become boring.
Boy I love that Blue Chevy Monza I had one just like it! Dropped a stroker 400 small block in it, and when you put the pedal to the floor it would wrap your neck around the back of the seat! Welded up the rear axle and made it a true posi, the tires would chirp going around the corner but when you nailed it, you better hold on! Of course rigging up the axle like that didn't last long but it sure was a lot of fun while it lasted! Hahaha
Although some cars were '60's not '70's, I agree with most of the commentary saying how disappointing they were... emissions and safety requirements were indeed partly to blame but efforts to cut weight and excess while conforming to trendy "personal luxury" designs were a failure
Thus commentary Is completely incorrect. The cars in this video are all highly sought after collectible cars. It was the beginning of the modern muscle cars that are on the road today. All of the engines in modern cars are made of aluminum and are very well made and very efficient
The cars weren't as bad as the video make it. These are all cars that are now highly sought after they're all rare. They weren't top sellers at the time but people didn't realize the Prudential and how unique and well-built they actually were. There was a fuel crisis in Japanese cars games traction and it wasn't even because of the fuel crisis. Automotive culture began to shift but the shift lost traction and then everybody wish they had bought a gremlin instead of a Toyota Corolla
Attention!!!! Unfortunately, all petrol cars will soon be banned in the EU and the USA! In France there is a new law prohibiting combustion engine cars called SCHLABOUBVE and in Switzerland the HESCHLAVVO law! In the Scandinavian countries there will soon be a so-called SMORVERBIDEN law) for Germany there will probably be a federal exhaust gas ban ordinance BABVVO and TEBBVO from 2027. In California they just banned all gas cars!!!
I was around in 1970, and the 1970 Cutlas Supreme Coupe was one of Oldsmobile's most successful models ever. At least in California it was. They were everywhere. By 1972 it started to lose it's appeal due to the larger bumpers and the grill and tail light design changes that detracted from the look. 1970 was one of the best years for Oldsmobile due to the success of the Cutlas Supreme Coupe. Every year thereafter they went down hill because they lost focus until they became extinct in 2004.
My mom had 79 Sunbird hatchback cousin to the Monza. It was a great car when we had it back 79-86. I was sad when we traded it in. Guess everyone has an opinion on things
🌴 My first car was a 1969 Beaumont..it was 1981..I bought a motor..out of a drag racer..it was fast. It was still beat..brakes really only worked on the left front tire..and then..one night..the steering wheel fell off.. ...those were the days.!!
The Chevy Monza was originally designed to have a Wankel rotary engine. At the last minute, GM decided to not use this motor & replaced it with other (less powerful) conventional piston motors. The AMC Pacer was also going to have the same Wankel rotary motor in it.
19:54 I thought this was about about the crappiest coupes of the '70's 23:05 neither of which was around in 1963. 23:51 hard to compete with a car that doesn't exist. 29:23 1st you show a GTO then at 29:26 a Grand Prix, nice job. You can't even show the right car. 29:33 you sure about that? It had a 455 under the hood. 40:52 and were back to the '60's. 42:27 so Landau bars and a vinyl roof made the '66 T bird a crappy car? What a joke.
ĹChevy monza are extremely rare and highly sought-after. Among the spider came fitted with a Chevy V8 engine and is light weight. Maybe at the time people didn't realize it's potential but now the Mazda spider is a very highly sought after car and is very capable
My dad owned a 1974 monza he bought brand new. It was nothing but problems for entire 5 years he owned it. He could never keep it running right. It kept breaking down. One day i late 1979 the catalytic converter caught fire causing bottom to catch on fire. Luckily fire department saved whole car from catching fire. It still ran but my dad sold it for $400.00. new owner got a steal and drove it 5 more years. He was good enough mechanic to keep junk car running.
I don't know where the information is coming from about the Monza, but in my city you saw them on every block, and was the go to when giving a car to a high schooler. And they were popular at the drag strips, packing a 350 under the hood.
MY FIRST PICKUP WAS A 1950 DODGE IU BOUGHT WHEN I WAS 13 YEARS OLD FOR 50 DOLLARS RAN GREAT I COULD DRIVE ON THE STREET NO DRIVER'S LICENCE SO I DROVE UP AND DOWN THE GARDEN WHEN THE GARDEN WAS OUT

Sorry I love all these cars. I quit watching after a scan through. Better Title would have been "11 NOTABLE COUPES from the 1970's" There I fixed it for ya mister A.I.
The movement to Japanese cars back in the 1970s was a disappointment. All those old Japanese cars turned out to be extremely underpowered and didn't last for more than a few years. In reality buyers regretted they're Japanese car purchase and shifted back American cars
Blame the Government, not the Olds. The 1972 was not much different than the previous 4 years. The performance of the '72 was better than the '68 by a large margin. The availability of the W-30 option was still available, with the Fiberglass hood. Obviously you guys know nothing about cars.
Great content, as always! Just a quick off-topic question: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). What's the best way to send them to Binance?
Like alot of them I had a 69 Mach 1 428 cobra jet I was 17 and would love to sell have I also had 71 and 77 mustang and 67 over head cam 6 firebird liked them all wish still had all
Why look at cars that were failures?it is like watching the tomb raider as she passes up A machine gun two pistols and another machine gun Then picks up the bow and arrow and passes up a machine gun and two more 45s automatics1911 and another ak47 with alot of ammo then she picks up the climbing axe and at the end she magically finds a rope that pulls her up and out of the deep cave! she is too dumb for all the guns but a genius for a axe and bow and arrow and can open a safe in seconds but cant pick up or make a weapon of any kind!the same with all the fishermen and i know thats bull!
my paraplegic grandfather drove a 70 Toronado. the flat floor made it easy to load the wheel chair behind the driver seat. coming home from a fishing trip on a Saturday afternoon the car did not sound right and after few miles pulled over. my younger brother (12 yrs) saw that the car had no tire on the rear. a good samaritan saw the dilemma and changed the tire. awesome car.
ALL THESE CARS ARE BETTER THAN THEY HAVE NO DAYS THEY WAS BUILT TO LAST BACK THEN
Hey narrator: the Grenlin x came with a 304 v8 4 speed and still handled well.
there's no narrator, it's all AI generated
I had one 3 speed fun

You're gonna slam the Volare? C'mon man the genuine "Corinthian leather"!! I mean Rickardo Montelban thought it was the shizzy.
You got it all wrong, my dude. You’re talking about the Chrysler Cordoba, not the Plymouth Volare
It was perfect for the terrain of Seti-Alpha 6, right Khan?

Thunderbird introduced the Landau with vinyl top in 1962 not in 1966
I have had a 65,66 and a 60 third and I have to say the 65 was my favorite by far.

This green car, similar to an Oldsmobile, looks just super, and Monza is excellent in own style performance!

Old American cars were the best strong and easy to fix less break down new cars are toys not cars.

Hate these Artificial created videos, with random Craigslist videos as source material
Also, note that some of the Videos featured here were taken in Europe..
MY FIRST PICKUP WAS A 1950 DODGE IU BOUGHT WHEN I WAS 13 YEARS OLD FOR 50 DOLLARS RAN GREAT I COULD DRIVE ON THE STREET NO DRIVER'S LICENCE SO I DROVE UP AND DOWN THE GARDEN WHEN THE GARDEN WAS OUT
The name of this video should be cool cars that I'd happily own.
TBH, I don't think the Mustang II was THAT ugly. It was hated so much, but I think it was mostly due to the tiny size and the loss of performance. It was "Mustang shaped" more than the mid 90s cars that supposedly were "inspired than the original".
Some great styling though.
Once again you are just blowing hot air, just someone who likes the sound of your own voice.
If these cars were as bad as you think how come they sold so many.
Just a load of b s
I think you hate all cars that one you keep calling a grand am was a grand prix
The Grand Am itself had the interior trim of the Grand Prix, and the 455 of the Trans Am. But for part of the video, the car featured is indeed a GP.
🌴😒 Grand "prix".?
(Pronounce: "pricks")
Most of those cars were right for the time and sold quite well, despite seeming cheesy now
Oddly, owners seemed not to know their cars were being trashed...
Sorry I love all these cars. I quit watching after a scan through. Better Title would have been "11 NOTABLE COUPES from the 1970's" There I fixed it for ya mister A.I.
I would like to hear about the 72 and 75 ford ltd.
T-Bird Landau should have been called Thunderbird Hearse Coupe
Hot rodders fixed all their mistakes.

A car from 1963 is not from the 70s lol lol
I may be wrong but that sounds like Kevin Sorba if it is keep on keepin on you are a righteos man
The Monza with the v8 was a screamer

this is a crap video, non factual, and bias, if i could delete it i would
The weight was the problem
How many 63 Malibus were there
You showed a Tornado why no Tornado on the video
Worst cars of the 1970s/ "1963" Buick Skylark.. Seriously.
FORD Elites Ford Gran Torino Elites were great cars! You don't know what you are talking about!
Ai content complete word salad.😮

This A.I. bullshit is so dumb. Repeating over and over, and I'd take any one of these over today's market offerings.
