HISTORY OF DEHRADUN Canals of Dehradun Uttarakhand

Rajpur Canal is a 200 years old British canal forgotten by people of Dehradun.A big Dam or Headworks of this canal is still existing in Kelaghat, Rajpur.The Dam and canal are surely a place to see and learn about our past.This video presents to you the lost canals of Dehradun and the heritage surrounding them.
Rudyard Kipling once said ''This ladies and gentlemen is Rajpore".The same Rajpur(at foothills of Mussourie) is calling you to experience the history of Dehradun.
Those who want to enjoy the beautiful Dam, please follow the following DIRECTIONS :
Go to pleasant valley colony(Rajpur Road)-Sumannagar Basti-Cross the bridge -Left Road towards mountains.You will find the dam here after a15 minute walk.
HISTORY AND DETAILS
Head Works of the Rajpur Canal (Episode 1): Continuing down the valley a couple hundred meters, the structureencountered is the head works of the Rajpur Canal. There is a bridge with two hand cranked pulleys which were attached to wooden panels, one of which would obstruct the river to divert water into the canal, while the other
limited flow into the canal.

Dear Yadav ji and Negi ji, one canal used to flow along GMS road coming from Gadi side adjacent to FRI East boundary, crossing Ballupur and all the way going beyond Claimentown. I have spent my childhood playing in that canal. Why don't you cover origin and history of that as well. Lovely memory.... Vijay Upadhyay - Mumbai

ये नहर अंग्रेजो ने नहीं गढ़वाल की महारानी कर्णावती जी ने बनवाई थी,जो कि करनपुर तक जाती थी उस कस्बे को उन्होंने अपने नाम पर बसाया था।
सिर्फ बैराज का निर्माण ही अंग्रेजों द्वारा किया गया था नहर रानी जी ने बनवाई थी।
