I suffer from mental health issues. There are a couple times I had to go in. I was thankful for the time that the paramedics spent just talking with me and taking the time to care.
The Irish accent makes me happy. It sounds so friendly and melodic

So glad they highlighted mental health, important that we continue open conversations, lessening shame.
I have the utmost respect for these people they put themselves at risk every day and receive no thanks for what they do it takes a strong person to do this job and I really admire them for it well done to them they should be proud of themselves :)

I don’t know how to say sorry enough I have. I personally suffered from suicidal tendencies and I struggle every day to not do that. I can’t even imagine what it would’ve been like for you and all I could say is I’m sorry.
my name is Tiffy I'm totally blind hearing-impaired and I live in Australia! My mother died when I was 16 a heroin overdose and this just really touched me! Her mother who was my grandmother disowned her and she really needed help and didn't get any! The only person I know is my mother was the violent person she became! I miss my mum 😩😢

Man these people all have such beautiful eyes! Good people working the ambulance service.
Social media has been a horrible thing, for the most part, with you g people. They take things said to them to heart and no one that loves them can make it better, whoch can sometimes leaves tragic results. My heart goes out to the family members of this individial as well as the EMS call takers, I can't imagine what they go through and what they live with.
So much respect for these people. I know it is rewarding; but as we all know they don't love every part of the job. Sometimes, you can see the sadness in their eyes.
The story at the end is so incredibly sad. I lost my brother to alcoholism at the age of 25. Hands down the hardest thing I've ever had to go thru. 😢

You didn't "LOSE" you brother. He was selfish and killed himself. Why hide in a fantasy, and use pretend words to protect you from the truth. I've gone through my brother-in-law killing himself with drink, I cannot accept it as a lose.

Emergency medical personnel are the most wonderful mix of intelligence, compassion, black humor, and counselors. I had the great privilege to make the acquaintance of two such EMTs on a trip to the beautiful Republic of Ireland. I wish every sprained ankle I’d had resulted in meeting these angels.

I spent years as a paramedic, and found that only funeral directors had a more wicked sense of humour. They are brilliant in the way they cope. We didn't meet death on every shout, they do.
I really appreciate that paramedics comments that your head is a strong place to be, and ultimately you can overcome anything and you could really become a much better person ❤

I dont know wether to like this because I have total and complete respect for everyone in this and the work they do or to dislike it because of the stories and lives behind it. So il just not do either. Total respect
Sad. Wish there was a miracle to correct this. I've had to many friends end their lives taking drugs.
As a Rn I lock up all medications because of my grandchildren and how easy it would be to kill them. When my dad passed away my oldest daughter took it the worst because she was the apple of my dad's eye and she tried twice to commit suicide. The EMT were laughing and I don't understand why people could be so stupid and you can't fix stupid. It was the worst day of my life.

Mental illness and Suicide are both very horrible!!! One leaves a family completely broken and the other one will break a family. Unless you have experienced mental illness for yourself, its hard to understand exactly how one feels, and how mental pain can translate into physical pain and one who is being tortured by both, literally just wants the suffering and pain to stop, thus the thought of suicide. Its so hard with mental illness. I have suffered severe bipolar for half of my life and everyday is a struggle so when you make it thru 1 day, that is something to the mentally ill cherish and hope tomorrow will be another good day. So if you don't have mental illness, please don't judge, educate yourself

It's so sad for those who found themselves in a position where they felt they needed to kill themselves that breaks my heart but it also really hurts to think what those people go through when they find people hanging that must be the worse and most distributing thing to see that would cause lifelong flashblacks💔

My grandson hung himself 2 years ago and it was the hardest thing my family has ever had to go through. You are left with what could we have done to prevent this. He was 25 years old.
I'm so sorry. I've been suffering for a year because my late friend's son took his own life. He lived far from me but the way he was speaking on the phone made me suspicious.
I think it was all the trauma he had gone through.

My friend ended his life after coming home. Combat ptsd they said. He overdosed, taped plastic bags over his head, then hung himself. His little sister found him.
None of us saw it coming. 💔

Most people who commit or try to commit suicide just want the pain they are feeling to stop. Ive tried before, and that is all I wanted. Not many people who haven't tried don't understand, including their doctors.😊

Suicide doesn't end your problems, it just passes them on. That said, you are never alone and if you're in pain, chances are, your family and/or friends most likely know. The only thing that may allude them is the severity. Talk to someone, even if it's a crisis line because the reality is, so many young people (and beyond) don't want their loved ones to know that they're struggling. But please keep in mind that they're here for you regardless!
I suffer from severe mental health issues as well and I try every day my hardest to keep going strong even though it’s the hardest thing and just to be the best person I can be, but I’m not gonna lie. I have had several suicide attempts.

I agree. Also, I am perhaps in minority on this but I skip over their 'story time' segments where they're just talking about a certain subject of calls and it doesn't have anything to do with the calls we see.
Simple minded, I like this show BECAUSE they tell the stories, and its more personal than going from stranger to stranger.
