The level of emotions was so high during the entirety of this video, a product of the journey we've been on since GOW 1 Even though we still have plenty to go I just wanted to express my heartfelt gratitude to all of you for being a part of this incredible story 💙
The last giant panels showed Kratos coming from Greece to Norse lands, Balder, Atreus, his fight with Thor, spreading the ashes, and then ending with him being worshiped, which is what he had never imagined.
@@vault29a That's not a common opinion at all. Plus, I don't really blame said people either. The og trilogy was just him being a menace and fighting every god. So I can see y people would be disappointed.
the way odin died in atreus' lap is the same way kratos was destined to die in the shrine in jotenheim, Kratos avoided his death by changing himself and being better and took odin instead of him. this shit so magnifecent😭
I don't think this is true. It was always Odin. When the norns warned of Kratos' death, they meant the death of the god of war, and the birth of the god of hope.
This ending completely broke me but I like how they took risks with it rather than just doing a cheesy happy ending where everyone is good. They spend the whole game warning of the consequences of war, and at the end we deal with the very real lasting impacts.
IMPORTANT I know it might be a little while, but before you start the DLC, please check out the raven tree in Niflheim. A new path will be open. It has some resources, enemies, and a surprise that ties into the DLC
Mati, in the next episode when the credits roll after the secret ending you have to listen to them until the end there will be an awesome song at the end
Mati, I've been following you since your Shadow of the Colossus videos. What kept me coming back was your emotional reaction to the story beats of these fine titles. I knew them all before you did, and I savored your reaction to the character's journeys. That has been what's kept me coming back to your channel. ...your humanity, and the ability to open your heart.
"The culmination of love is grief and yet we love despite the inevitable. We open our hearts to it... To grieve deeply is to have loved fully. Open your heart to the world as you have opened it to me and you will find every reason to keep living in it."
My 5yo son love to watch me game. When i reahed this ending and atreus left he cried amd came cuddle with me and wanted me to promise i never leave him. Its enough to make a man cry.
Fun fact, that boy Skjoldir, friends with Atreus and Thrud, if I remenber corectly he becomes some legendary king in the norse mythology and has something to do with the coin Odin gave to Kratos way into the begining to fix the roof, after Kratos threw it, Skjoldir found it
This game makes me cry, its so emotional and beautiful... I played it when it got released and it was good back then, but since then I became a father and this hits so much harder now
You were right. the back of the shrine showed kratos journey, him coming from Greece and the events of his journey and at the end "the path" is him being worshipped A call back to when Odin told him that he knows nothing about godhood , being loved , being worshipped...
Mati Ik your probably not going to read this but at the end after the war on Asgard. When kratos saw the secret mural right after atreus left, it showed kratos life journey. In the first panel it showed him in greece on a boat after he killed the greek gods and flooded greece. Middle panel shows him battling baldur and then spreading faye's ashes. It also shows kratos fighting thor. Then in the last panel it shows kratos being worshipped by mortals.
I know you're just informing him, nothing wrong with your comment and just my opinion about the scene itself, but it's so underwhelming after all of the build up in gow 2018. I think it would've been more epic if it happened as kratos and Thor were fighting on the back of the snake as the result of a very strong clash between thor's hammer and kratos' axe.
More importantly thanks so much for this Mati. Been watching since GOW3 and it's brought back so many memories of what's been my favourite gaming franchise of all time. Been playing GOW since I was way too young to be doing so (31 now!)
it was athens (greece) in the secret mural at the end. the shrine’s left panel showed Kratos traveling from greece with the blades of chaos in hand, the middle panel showed the events of 2018+ragnarok, and the right panel showed the Kratos finally being loved by the people
You’re the first TH-camr in probably at least a year I’ve actually subscribed too I’m that dude that never subs unless I really like the content love the vids good work
Oh man... what a phenomenal journey it's been. Despite still having the DLC and possibly the PSP games, I need to say this: back in February, TH-cam recommended your first GOW video to me and once I finished that episode I was super excited cause it's a franchise that I've been passionate about since 2008 when I was 7 years old and seeing you have this experience for the first time brought me so much nostalgia and amazing memories from my childhood, so thank you so much for playing these games and bringing me back those good times, you are awesome!! Can't wait to see what you've planned for the future!
A nice cool little detail, at 1:59:10 , the wall atreus is facing before he heads off the side represents a face, possibly symbolising him looking up to his mother before heading for his next journey
When I play this game again or when I watch someone else play it, I'm struck over and over that this is a magnificent piece of art and I actually cry thinking about all the billions of people who will never experience any of it. Such a powerful, deeply meaningful piece of art hidden behind the words "video game".
1:08 you know, whenever the boy says something optimistic like that, i'm always brought back to the words of Mimir "Lady, have you ever heard Tempting Fate". like Atreus can we not count our chickens...please lol
@Mati Thank you for giving us qll the reaction we hoped for bro. I never get tired of seeing gamers cry on camera at some of the scenes in these games. Kratos and Atreus father son moments just hit you right in the feels. Thank you for the journey

I can't believe we made it! what a journey, I enjoyed so much seeing you finish it till the end. So really thank u mati can't wait for u to do the valhalla!!!
Seeing Mati cry was the most intense emotional feeling I had on this journey together. I was waiting the whole game for that legendary hug after Kratos saying "Atreus remains". I cried tears, still sobbing dude, because you finally could let go. Sounds a lil bit weird, but I think you all know what I mean. This game is a masterpiece in storytelling and character development. And I love how you appreciating and describing that so many times the whole game, dude! Peace :D (sorry for bad english? not my native language)
It felt truly special, what a journey we've been on with him. These are some amazing games and I'm so glad he's appreciated them fully. By the way, as a native speaker I'd like to say your English is very good :)
I wonder if Christopher Judge and Faye's voice actress were in the same room together when they recorded their lines. If not, that's some damn good acting and audio editing...
Having never played this game before, it was an absolute treat to experience it for the first time along with you. Thank you for making these videos dude.
Yo mati you are nearly at the end of the journey and just to let you know your the one who got me into the god of war gamees and i have been playing along with u 💙💙
found this series at the first god of war 1 episode and subscribed and watched all the 3 weekly uploads to the lower ones and every time i was still hooked mati you forever have a fan and this is by far the best god of war youtube series one of my favorite moments on youtube
My GOAT video game character. When we met Kratos nearly 20 years ago, we all thought...as did he...that was an irredeemable monster. And now, Faye's last gift was showing him that it was always his destiny to be redeemed. If this is the end of the franchise, it's a fitting conclusion.
I just unpacked my favourite cookie pack and was thinking about watching a show when i saw that Mati has uploaded. This is better than any show i could be watching. What a way to start the weekend.
And let's go to another incredible ending! What a game, what a series, I waited anxiously to see each episode, even though I already knew the story! Thank you for sharing your gameplay with us!! Valhalla awaits us!!
I started watching you're God of war videos from Gow 3 then previous two then 2018 and this I ended the last video last night one day before this episode I really this series and subd the first Gow 3 I watched I love the channel and this game.I cried like three times during my time of playing this game and yours.

2:15:20 In reference to this, I'd definitely recommend finishing as much of the main game as possible before the DLC. You may want to pay a visit to the Raven Tree soon as well....
1:29:30 “cos you’re a bitch, that’s why” I spat out my coffee! Amazing series, I’ve loved god of war since it started and your playthrough has been so great! So funny, refreshing and emotional, keep up the good work! ❤
One thing that i love about that scene of Kratos looking at the "hidden pannel" is that the last part, the original drawing show something very similar what we saw on jottunhein in the first game with Kratos dying. But probably Faye, paint over, showing a new path, one of Kratos being a god worth of praying, no longer a God of destruction but one of reconstruction. What I most learned with this game is that we are not bounded to what we've done and our past mistakes, is that we should always seek to be better (as papa kratos always says). I'm really happy to seen you through this whole journey, to VALHALLA now. (but first the side quests, lol)
This game is a masterclass of character development and story telling. It's the bar I measure everything against and not much comes close. This game is an experience. Thank you so much for bringing us along for your experience!

Every time I see Kratos and Atreus hug I tear up. Every damn time. Once again another amazing video and I can’t wait to see the berserkers, gna and of course the dlc
Beautiful ep, dude. The two main side things I'd recommend doing before the DLC are one in Niflheim (not the raven tree), and the quests/favors in the dragon area of Vanaheim, GREAT lore to be learned there.
Firstly, I've been following this series since the first GOW game and it has been a banger. GOW is one of my favorite game series, and tho I still haven't played Ragnarok, seeing you play it has been amazing and has only made me more excited to finally try it myself (I'm waiting for the PC release). Secondly, next time you are looking for a game to bring to the channel, I can't stress how much I recommend you try Blasphemous. It's a 2D platformer Metroidvania. If you like difficulty, hard-hitting bosses and the whole "find out the lore by yourself" thing, I believe you'll enjoy Blasphemous. It has one of the most interesting worlds of any game I've played, based around the religious traditions of southern Spain. And the best part is that Blasphemous 2 is already out, so you won't have to wait for it like the rest of us did. Anyway, it has been a blast following the GOW franchise with you. Excited for your next series.
The level of emotions was so high during the entirety of this video, a product of the journey we've been on since GOW 1
Even though we still have plenty to go I just wanted to express my heartfelt gratitude to all of you for being a part of this incredible story 💙

its also worth noting that you can see thor underneath the paint, Faye painted the Kratos worship over the prophecy of his death
The fact that they finally broke Kratos' stoicism, not with grief, but with love was so poetic.
