Alpe-Adria 2024 recumbent bike tour | Part 2: the Austrian Alps

In this video we're following from Salzburg the Tauernradweg / Eurovelo 14 cycling route along the Salzach river. We were initally planning to cycle to the Dachstein mountains but we skip that plan and follow the easier Enns valley route and camp at the Reiteralm camping at Gleiming. The next day we continue the Enns radroute until Stein an der Enns. From here we climb the scenic Sölk pass. A long hard and steep climb that we already tackled in 2021 from the other (south) side. We camp at Olachgut near Murau and the next day follow the R2 (Mur Radweg) heading west until Stadl and der Mur. From here we climb to the Flattnitzer Höhe, a long gradual and not too difficult climb, but not so spectacular. After a long descent we camp at the Ossiacher See near Villach.

In deze video volgen we vanuit Salzburg de Tauernradweg / Eurovelo 14 fietsroute langs de rivier de Salzach. Aanvankelijk waren we van plan om naar het Dachstein gebergte te fietsen, maar dat plan slaan we over en we volgen de makkelijker Ennsdal fietsroute en kamperen op de Reiteralm camping bij Gleiming. De volgende dag vervolgen we de Ennsdal fietsroute tot Stein an der Enns. Vanaf hier beklimmen we de schilderachtige Sölkpas. Een lange, zware en steile klim die we al in 2021 vanaf de andere (zuidelijke) kant hebben beklommen. We kamperen in Olachgut bij Murau en volgen de volgende dag de R2 (Mur Radweg) richting het westen tot Stadl an der Mur. Vanaf hier klimmen we naar de Flattnitzer Höhe, een lange geleidelijke en niet al te lastige klim, maar minder spectaculair. Na een lange afdaling kamperen we aan de Ossiacher See bij Villach.

Very nice videos as usual. I have a question though. At some point you don't follow the Alpe Adria radweg anymore. Is there a reason for this ? It's nice to see another part of Austria though.

Thanks for your comment! We always plan our own routes. So following the entire Alpe Adria radweg wasn't our main goal, we just used parts of it as long as it was convenient in our route planning.
