Thule's instructions specifically say not to attach straps to front of the carrier or outside of the foot as shown in this demo. Their instruction say secure strap to the base load bar / cross bar.

@@rackattack Not a question, just commenting that the attachment of the lower strap to the foot of the 'J' is not recommended by Thule per their instructions. They show to carry strap under the roof rack crossbar. If someone was to secure their kayak per this video, it would be counter to Thule's instructions.

Today I leaned this guy is correct and your video is wrong guys. Maybe pin a comment up top that it is incorrect. I have been following your instructions since I got my rack, but apparently securing one end of the strap to the crossbar of the frame is the correct method. Thule even shows this in their instructions as the commenter says.

Is it possible to put another kayak straight onto the bare racks on the free space on the other side ?

Hi There, we would not recommend the mounting option which you suggesting. Thule makes the Compass which is able to accommodate two kayak on a single rack.

As long as the bars are still in good condition and are rated to carry the weight of the wet Kayak, there shouldn't be any issue with using this carrier on that vehicle
