Henderson and Philips should not even be allowed within 500 miles of the England Squad.
Englands biggest problem is their mid manager
Agreed. England Natl team has depth for days but a clueless manager
He's more of a politician than a manager
Just piling on what everyone is saying, without seeing what he's trying to do, he might not be a good coach, but he is good manager for sure.
Harvey Elliott isn't in this England team, this is wrong!!
Southgate out his a rubbish manager.... Elliot should of been in England squad...
England will loose to Holland, Spain, Belgium, Germany, France, Italy, even Hungary and even Turkey etc Harvey Elliott from the age of 19, 20 etc he can play attacking right wing, attacking player. His been one of Liverpool top players.
Mid?? hardly, he's well below that.
His loyalty to the same set of players is the reason they won't win anything
That's just what media is trying you to believe, but every player there this time was on merit, even hendo, he needs him to balance the team's defence.
@@eshansingh9951Southgate is sooo disliked
@@eshansingh9951 casual, yes a word thats thrown around a lot but you deserve it with a Capital C. Do not need Henderson ffs !!
ENGLAND CAN CREATE ANY BOX MIDFIELD VARIATION
4-2-3-1: KANE
SANCHO MADDISON FODEN
JUDE RICE
SHAW T. A-A
COLWILL STONES
RAMSDALE
It’s like tomori does not exist
He’d rather keep losing with Maguire 🤣
If England can get Mbappe and either Allison or Ederson in the next transfer window, they would be betting favorites to win the Euros!
😅🤣
You can say that about any team, if Spain had Stones, Walker, Kane, Saka and Bellingham they would have a chance. We can all play this dumb game.
@@Delboy0you absolute 🤡 it’s clearly a joke and sarcasm 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
@@Delboy0I think he meant it sarcastically
@@Delboy0 sarcasm 😂😂
What about Tomori? He's always ignored.
Gotta force Maguire in there.
How someone like Tomori doesn't get into the England setup even someone like smalling is criminally insane. Maguire and his abilities will only hinder England by not being able to play higher up
You cannot play good football if the mid-fielders and attackers are continually worried about the defence, because they can never fully commit to playing forward.
You mean worried about Maguire
The talent is so clearly there. Southgate just isn't the guy.
Really? And who picked the team? Rishi Sunak? The reason those players are there is because of the manager.
Which players should play instead?
England has Foden think about it
@@iam_champ The same Foden who Guardiola has been benching and playing out of position for the last 5 years? Ok, he was unimpressive when Jude came off against Brazil
Why do pundits do so much brain gymnastics to protect Southgate?
Fellow countryman that's why. It's so annoying.
it's insane actually. and that's why they still win nothing. ridiculous
As a United fan I hope Gareth Southgate doesn’t pick Kobbie Mainoo. I don’t want him to burnout playing for England. I want him to rest in the summer and get ready for next season.
I'm a United fan too and who cares about Manchester? Think Mainoo could do well for England. My concern is more about Southgate's tactics and lack of bravery or motivation rather than the quality of our England players.
Hes 18 lol
You English? if not, you have not right to say if he does or not play for his country, England need him in the midfield.
Bit selfish there...have you even considered what Mainoo would want? The honour of playing for your country is huge for most athletes
The kid is like 18 years old and your talking about resting him? Seriously…😂😂
DID HE JUST SAY IT'S NOT EASY TO GET INTO SOUTHGATE TEAM😂😂😂😂😂SHOULD WE ASK MAGUIRE , RASHFORD AND HENDERSON???😂😂😂
that take had me so shook
the fact that these guys are almost always called up might be the reason why it’s actually not easy to get in there, cause it’s unfair for the better players not being called
Use John Stone as a 6 play tomori and brantwaite as center back whenever they dont have the ball, stone can add to the back 2
Tactical change
We've finally got an array of talent that don't have to play like England have for the last 50 years and a manager so clueless he sees that as a problem rather an opportunity to finally have the continent running scared. It's almost like that wc semi and euro final only came about because the players under top foreign coaches in the league seemed oblivious to the England mentality of previous generations and Southgate was superfluous in his influence on their mindset. He was more like an amiable stand in pe teacher just there to keep a bit of order and general direction.
The more he's been allowed scope to think of himself as a manager, the more out of his depth he's got, his lower Championship at best expertise is seriously debilitating England the more precocious and younger the talent at his disposal gets. It's now reached critical point and the irresponsible media are neglecting their duty in not calling this untenable situation out more vocally before the damage he does sets us back years. It's obvious Southgate represents something to the modern establishment and their neutered media beyond football and they're prepared to sacrifice England's potential for matters totally unrelated to the game.
Your last sentence is the most incisive comment I've seen on this situation. Thank you for putting it so well.
'Finally'?????? Been this way for the past 2 tournament's ffs
Uder this manager you have bin the closest to win something since 1966 the furthest you have gotten in any tournament. You even had the so called golden generation in the 90s and they were not this close as under southgate.
The WC semi and Euro final came about because of ridiculously easy draws. Everyone who isn't English realizes that. England also has a soft group at the upcoming Euros.
After Arsenal, Liverpool conceded the least amount of goals and no one is talking about Quansah
Tomori! Maguire wouldn't get into the building at AC and Tomori has consistently been quality in Serie A. Southgate is gone regardless what happens a the WC so he might as well go for it!
Well said frank 👏🏻
Maguire literally caused the injury to Kyle walker and John stones. Maguire is so bad he makes other players over exert themselves to make up for him.
Sorry Rashy is not an elite player who performs week in week out for his club...
Mainoo plays..we are losing…Madison, who Gareth hardly plays, Englands most creative midfielder, comes on for 15 mins a sets up Bellingham…. Other countries wouldn’t waste Maddison. Forget Calvin and Henderson ffs.
I've said it beforez Madison is underrated, but he can even have a spot in the team further up on the wing coming inside, but he is a problem, turned spurs around
Come on! We weren’t losing because of Mainoo, did you not see the clear as day Pickford and Dunk errors? Mainoo actually created the attack for our first goal so if the inept defence don’t make those silly individual errors we are winning with Mainoo in the midfield.
As an England fan i urge people to watch the film Mike Basett England Manager. This film will give you an idea of why England will never again win another trophy
Hey thanks just saw some parts of the movie, it feels everything is realistic even today :D
Because since all the other nations have joined in the tournaments, we've been found out
😂 Mate it’s one of my favourite films! And Southgate is definitely like Basset
Woah woah woah mike Bassett has a personality
Atleast basset had won the Mr Clutch Cup
I don’t agree with Craig that England have bad centre-backs, the problem is Southgate is picking the worst defenders. England have Tomori, Guehi, Konsa, Gomez, Quansah and Braithwaite all fast defenders, comfortable on the ball and can defend one on and he ignores them to play Maguire 2.0 Dunk, makes mistakes in both games that cost a goal. It shows Southgate is a bad coach not good at identifying players because Mainoo was only in the squad due to Henderson being injured. The bad coach is wasting a generation of players.
Mainoo is not even that good and all this overhype will make him not live up to all your high expectations.
@@vincentvries9854if you claim Mainoo is not good then you are clueless about football. A midfielder who maintains possession, can play killer passes, can dribble past players and can tackle. You are just saying this because he young and English. He is like a baby clone of Seedorf and that is a type of player England have never had. That is why people are getting excited.
According to YOU!
Been saying this about Tamori. He is quality. But this manager will stick with Maguire. Look at Tamori team mate Loftus-cheek. He's in great form and can't get in over Henderson. It's a joke
branthwaite and stones is perfect but guehi has to start if he is fit
Gareth Southgate culture. Maguire, Henderson, Chilwell, Phillips and Dunk. That is Englands future and best players according to Southgate, the creme of the crop.
None of them want to say that Ben White is the answer for England's defense, but everyone shot themselves in the foot by pillorying Ben White publicly rather than say he was victimized in the team by a bad apple. Now England may pay the price for their downstream Arsenal hate...
Spain , Italy , France etc would not have a problem with throwing Mainoo into the Euros. They take risks and show confidence in their players , that’s why they win things.
Well said frank lebouf 😂😂
Thank God my Italian team beat England in the Euro Finals, bc since then we have struggled badly against England.
If England can't win with an attacking 4 of Jude, Kane, Saka, and Foden, they truly are not destined to win.
Your Italy had Bonucci and Chiellini. England had Stones and Maguire.
England scored a beautiful goal.
Italy scored a scrappy bouncing ball goal from a corner.
Italy won 3-2 on penalties.
Just for perspective
Well, some might think that England was destined to win euro 2020. A final at Wembley, good morale in the team and playing very good football, fans were behind the team and supporting them like I’ve never seen before, a golden chance to end their penalty hoodoo. The problem with England is that they always find a way to lose. Italy didn’t have a great penalty record that night, yet still found a way to win it because England bottled it.
@@Kratos-005 I disagree. Italy were the best team in the tournament. That fact was evident from the group stages and because of their unbeaten record. England were never better than Italy at any stage in that tournament. So, no, I don’t think England under achieved. They had an opportunity to win but they weren’t the best team in euro 20.
@@Karma2Babylon Well, personally, I thought the stars were aligned for England that night.
Southgate: 4 wins in 26 against FIFA top 10 teams in 8 years. He deserves sacking with a 15% win record against good teams.
Hanging your hope on Mainoo for euro 2024 should tell you everything about England come June
No one in the world has England’s depth on the wings. Maybe one other team has England’s depth at striker. No one in the world has their depth at fullback either, especially at RB. Midfield is the issue. Mainoo could be the difference for them in possession. The hope is that he plays with a proper #6 who will do the work and allow Mainoo to come forward. The hope is not that Mainoo can carry England, the hope is that Southgate will utilize a top 3 team in the world in terms of talent, properly. In which I’m doubtful of that.
South Gate is the royal family’s pawn he ain’t leaving in 100 years🤣
South Gate?
I can't believe these pundits are talking about England having no alternative to Maguire . Have they not seen Quansah, Braithwaite and Colwill all three all though young are miles ahead of Maguire .
I would argue they are better than Stones too as they all have pace . Stones is wonderful on the ball but he has never been a great defender . He was at fault for the goal that knocked out England of the last world cup.
As well as that he has never been in a team of a tournament in all the tournaments he has played in . He suits a Pep team because Pep has never been serious about defending they just try to out score the opposition .
Agree with alot of it but stones was magnificent In the champions league final. His ability on the ball and breaking up play was superb
I thought Kane blasting a pen over the bar was more criminal.
Defensive problem is Southgate’s fault because he doesn’t seem to understand you can’t play high defensive lines with slow defenders and keeps picking Maguire and Dunk over fast defenders England has that make England vulnerable. He seems to love slow cumbersome defenders because he was a slow cumbersome defender. Liverpool, Man City, France and even Germany now play with two mobile centre-backs. It Southgate’s bad coaching that Maguire and Dunk were not phased out and the faster defenders were not given opportunities.
Agree, but who are those faster defenders you are talking about..!?
@@SuperAzeone Tomori, Guehi, Konsa, Gomez, Braithwaite and Quansah. Maguire should have been phased out long ago but he hasn’t given these other players opportunities to take over
James Olley is so good.
Get a manager who isn’t living in the twilight zone and understands the year 2024 and beyond
This is crazy... if you play the same CB in all your games how will you evaluate your options... England has an embarrassment of riches in every single position, but Gareth will play his bunch regardless!!!
Tomori tomori
Managers are amongst the most stubborn people on the planet, and Southgate falls into that category.
Gareth Southgate is not good enough, has not been good enough as England Manager because he's not bold enough as a Coach. And this is partly because the English media and their fans are too mediocre in their expectation of their coaches - particularly if they are English - and their players. Meanwhile, they are so inpatient with any other Manager if they are not English. To be honest, they are not part of my favourite 3 countries to win the next Euros in Germany.
Why is nobody looking at levi colwill? Best young english cb and hes left footed. No way maguire should be starting over him
Colwill has played about 3 games at centre half all season. How is there no way a guy who’s been out best defender in the last two tournaments should be starting over him? Would love to hear the logic behind that
@@User-ei7eohow many games has kobie manoo played?
Exactly, how are this pundits being paid without talking about England's next CB for a decade?

@User-ei7eo have you been watching football for the last 3 seasons?? My nan could play for this wngland team with a double pivot! Whenever maguire is isolated he comes up short don't pretend he's so amazing for England he's been bailed out plenty of times
Best club team has stone as a 6......he is playing for England
England has issues with pace at cb. Meanwhile last time around he decided not to give Timori who has pace a go st it when he won the series A.
Isn’t Ben White a CB by trade?
Yeah, he’s excelled at RB under Arteta but he’s surely a better option there for England over who the manager continues to put in there.
I almost burst into laughter at the idea of a back 3 for England , they'd be done from the whistle 😂
Why would they be done?
@@thrilla72 Craig suggested it and quickly had a rethink lol
They're talking about a solid central defender with pace and somehow seem to always forget Fikayo Tomori is English. What has this man done to Southgate? Or does he only watch Premier League players (and Jordan Henderson)?
Southgate's loyalty will be his downfall at the end players like konsa, tomori and even branthwaite in the resent international break that we don't know about the depth in defence due to lack of caps and kept picking maguire when he wasn't in form
Why is Madison not starting
How much Maguire caps for England squad? He needs send flower to Southgate for sure. Will be his fourth tournaments with him
The World Cup is 94 years old now.
England have won it once (at home) and have never made another final
The European Championship is now 64 years old.
England have never won it and have made the final only once (at home)
how is this team even relevant, let alone being installed as favourites.
in their entire history they've never made the final of a major tornament that wasnt played in england
ladies and gentleman i present to you "the power of the media"
Exactly. That's the British shill media for you. They think because they have a couple decent players. That warrant them to be considered favorites. That's madman thinking.
All your facts are correct, and it is a scandal England invented football it is imbedded in our culture and we have probably the largest league pyramid in the world and therefore participation numbers. We now have the richest league and therefore top level facilities for our young players, who now coach to have excelkent technique and preparation. How we have managed to underachieve is ridiculous. The one area we fail on and I don't know why is producing top coaches and as a consequence this is probably the issue You either have English coach who is not good enough or a foreign coach like Capello who does not understand the culture mentality. At the end of the day England is a huge footballing country and regardless of yhe record it should be spoken of as one of the countries to win these tournaments.
England's Three Lions: snakebitten since 1966.
Yep, Euro 2028 - best shot 🎯
@@BC-th3mx Maybe 2040😂
Englands weak spots is, their keepers, central defenders and their number 9’s…
I’m from the US. But I always route for England. And it must be frustrating asf to have a mid manager in Southgate. I would do this:
Ramsdale/Pope
Trent Walker Stones Shaw
Rice Mainoo
Saka Bellingham Foden
Kane
Frank Leboeuf 😂😂😂😂😂👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
I'd consider playing Maddison next to Rice. Rice can sit and Maddy provides creativity from deep.
I won't be surprised if the Three Lionesses win their second major title before the Three Lions do.
The way Craig Burley says Deschamps.. he never took any French lessons it seems. Painful.
Garreth Southgate seem very hesitant to try new things. Especially in friendlies.
I've noticed Craig always ask questions when Kay is on
What are you suggesting?
Craig always pulls Dan Thomas' chains and debates with him.
Gareth Southgate will be remembered for his missed Penalty because he lacks confidence to unleash an attack force other Managers would love to have he's done a great job staying 3rd in the FIFA ranks but who remembers that in 10 years time ? no they remember iEngland's Sir Alf Ramsey for winning the World Cup at Wembley Gareth is a full on steady Eddy easy as she goes and that doesn't win tournaments we all know that ...
England team is great. I think they dont need to overthink these friendly matches.
They have a mate as a manager. What do they expect? Lol that’s final against Italy is as close as it’s gonna get and they bottted that.
Tomori, Smalling not English anymore?
Cantona retired from football a year before France '98 so it would be a strange decision to pick him for the World Cup squad.
I am officially a fan of Southgate because he has ruled himself out for the Man United job so spectacularly well got to love him
Better CB than Maguire: Marc Guehi, Ben White, Levi Colwill, Konza, Gomez.
Stop making excuses for Southgate.
in a normal man's logic, there is no way an under performing kevin phillips or someone who plays in Saudi league is better than kobbie
The Everton kid didn't even come off the bench 😂, but they play Stones in a FRIENDLY, when we know what he can do.
News flash, British media have overhyped England yet again!! 😂
Safe to say it’s never coming home haha
Why did Southgate not at least try Branthwaite? He’s one of the most in form CBs in the PL and has strength and pace.
What about Livramento? When he plays...he really plays.
Why doesn't southgate try playing Stones at LCB and kyle walker at RCB. That might be a decent pairing. Then play trippier or James at RB if they are fit enough in june.
An entire country of talent to pick from, friendliest should be used to try new players - it’s not complicated. There must be an agreement with Liverpool, arsenal, Man City and Newcastle to only use their players.
Can you imagine Tomori… thinking he has a great chance to be in the England squad and can’t even get a look. While if he played for Canada, he would be the anchor. What a waste for Canada
The best England pllayer is Bellingham, but he can't carry the whole team on his back
Carry the whole team? It’s about Southgate.. if he picked the right players, England would be fine. They have an embarrassment of riches in every position but CB and a #6. Another manager would win the Euros in a second with this team, especially if Deschamps continues to sit Saliba.
This is the problem with England, give Mainoo to Brazil or Spain and he probably starts every game. They'll turn him into a demon, none of this questioning if he's ready or not. Other countries throw these young players in and develop them fast. Southgate is just a horrible manager.
Starts every game.. how many games had he started for Man Utd… if he cannot start for them, he obviously isn’t going to be a starter for England
We should play with two DMs . Rice and stones.this will allow the front 4 to always go forwards.
Find 2 new CBs.
Southgate problem is his loyality & not picking players based on their form.
Fikayo Tomori should be starting anyway.
English is but my first language, so I am deeply sorry if I misunderstood something.
But the guy was saying the reason it's hard for Southgate to call different players is because he worked so hard to create this culture in his team?
What culture? Culture of failure?
Just imagine the terror if Endrick was English and entered the team and said to Southgate "I want to win!"
"Kid, you are new here. Winning is secondary. Either you understand that or you are out!"
Mainoo will be on the pitch where he’s needed. He can screen. He does it every week for United. He just flourishes when he moves higher up the pitch.
Mainoo’s issue is his engine. He doesn’t track back, and when he does he’s jogging. He’s a #10 in my opinion. But he can take the football. I would definitely have him higher up the pitch.
14:53 "He's gotta FIND a conundrum." 🤦♂😂
Rashford is elite and performing week in week out? Also the problem in defence is that he never tries any other defenders to allow those options.
Tomri? This is just crazy for me
Bro last week he was the perfect replacement for ten hag and everything. Today they are battering him. How are you analysts
Does Southgate know what he's doing? Sorry, but neither Phillips nor Henderson should be near the squad.
Have Maguire and Stones helped us win!? No.
Just go with Branthwaite and Tomori. Get on with it.
Southgate does not like creative players, he'll only pick these types of players when he's forced to.
Over hyping that boy
What does Tomori have to do to get in that back line😓
So he sees Trent doing amazing things and thinks to himself, 'i don't want to mess up the culture I've cultivated', that's the opposite of a winning mentality!
why doesnt he play Tomori ? he's so good!!!
Calling Mbappe "the big cheese" even though he was the reason why they went extra time lool all you need to know about their analysis
This is the worst Brazil team in the history of football and yet the best team in the universe couldn't beat them. Don't know who to credit actually.
What about Tomori for christ sake
Tomori has 5 senior caps.
Konsa has 2
Guehi has 9
Which has impressed you most?
@@Karma2Babylon Tomori. But that's not enough caps between them all to pass proper judgement. The fact is if they don't get played there wont be any chemistry at all. This manager has never been able to coach a defensive high line and he never will so Maguire will defend the box with heart and makes backwards and sideways passes then we wonder why they aren't creative enough, its just too simple i suppose
@@Karma2Babylon It's funny how this is the argument when the real problem is once you ignore most of your players, later down the line when you need them just like with work experience you realise, hold on, they ain't got any because Southgate wouldn't give them any. Instead he'd overplay his main stays, especially when they were continuously poor through out their club seasons.
There has been talent amongst this nation for years now, but he didn't want to integrate them, or even develop a style that will hold England dominate against other nations, just your basic individual brilliance playstyle that won't hold up once every nation understands England's squad.
Now we've got talks of not taking Sterling or Rashford, so only now are Toney (fairs, he had a looming ban but still could have used him until he was actually suspended) and Ollie getting games but they should have been more included before when all we really had was Kane.
@@caribbeangaming7970 I think you’re misunderstanding me, my question is which has impressed the most playing for England?
My pick is Guehi then Konsa.
As for the argument about Maguire: I’m still struggling to remember a moment in any of the 3 knockout tournament games England lost where Maguire was at fault. Walker and Stones got it wrong for Croatia’s winner and Italy equaliser was from a scrappy bouncing ball from a corner. Henderson was too knackered to get to Greizmann cross. I’ve looked at Maguire’s tournament record and can understand why Southgate might think he’s usually reliable.
That guy in check shirt is so clueless. What’s his name though?
ARGENTINA WILL WIN THE EUROS AND MESSI WILL WIN THR BALL0N DOR!
Yes 😂
And Salah will get the Golden boot
England do not beat teams that are as good as they are, because the manager is too cautious and isn't tactically aware
dude just said Luke Shaw is slow lol
Gomez i would have then also Tomori.. Guehi decent...Braithwaite good..
Dunk isn't it aa slow and clumsy.
Chaos? Go read the definition.
Englands biggest issues is there manager his loyalty to Philips/henderson is ridiculous mainoo should have been in squad over them. Tomori never gets a chance he also picks dunk over braithwaite. Southgate is the issues the sooner Man U come take him the better!!
Craig is the man on this show, controversial at times but very good insights into the game from that man. Reason why 3 in back didn't work in past for Southgate's England is in part that he kept playing Walker as RCB instead of right wingback. CB was clearly not Walker's game. Maybe worth going back to that but with Walker as RWB. It's time to move on from Henderson, Maguire and Sterling. Go with youth like Mainoo, Branthwaite and Palmer.
Well we ain't winning it playing constipated football set up worried about loosing every game so why not just have a go with all the top talent at our disposal. But we need to play fast, agile defenders for recovery while playing higher up.
