Ann Latham vinyl flooring also makes for a great (and cheap) accent wall. Plus it’s a good project to build up your skill with using it before tackling the floor.

Love the project, did this myself last year only I have an actual fireplace with 3 inches behind the plaster and lath (house is circa 1916), and the adjacent wall only had 1.5" I also chose to run 3 hdmi, ethernet, optical and usb, even trickier, I put them all on wall plate. Plus I ran a dedicated power line for the tv, overkill I know. I spent a good 8 hours fishing all the wires but in the end it was all worth it. It looks amazing and my Partner is happy!!!

We use drop anchors and then all thread coming out of the stone making sure its as perfect as possible elevation and plum and level. Then you can use nuts to set a flat base all the way around. So the mount in many cases, does not ever touch the wall . Very strong and very durable esp in real stone work and masonry thats thicker then 4”
