      Umm no? The whole point is too NOT use animal products because it’s not necessary. Especially for cosmetic purposes. Bees do a lot of work for themselves so taking that for your makeup is what costs that ethical question. That is harm involved in taking bees wax. Even if it’s little, it’s not necessary and unjustifiable

      It might sound weird but when I was nursing my daughter, the first couple weeks my nipples were raw until they got use to nursing. It’s common and they make products called nipple butter or nipple cream which is also safe for baby’s, I got a tube and it’s lanolin based. So much comes in the tube, A tiny amount goes a long way and I only needed it for the first few weeks so after I used it for elbows, knees, under eyes as an eye cream and since nipple skin seems similar to lip skin, I used it for my lips and it works amazing and way cheap as a lip balm. It’s also safe for baby’s who are nursing so I figured it’s safe for lips even if you lick your lips or ingest some. Just an idea if you like lanolin than you can pick it up in the baby section at Walmart or pharmacy.

    Lanolin is hands down the best lip moisturizer. Companies shoot themselves in the foot when they make their lip balms and masks ‘vegan’ with ingredients that clearly aren’t as effective.
    Most of us don’t care about the vegan aspect, we care about the cruelty free aspect which is not the same. There was that Canadian cosmetics company Bite Beauty that was known for their lanolin overnight lip mask, they sold at Sephora years ago and people were obsessed with it. You put it on before bed, and wake up with gorgeous moisturized lips.
    Well they made the mistake of reformulating it vegan, and now they’re bankrupt. They didn’t listen to the cries of customers who wanted the original formula back. I loved that original lip mask SO MUCH... I’m down to my last tube and it’s starting to turn, so I have to use it up quickly.
    At least Glossier didn’t make the same mistake as Bite Beauty, they listened to their customers. Another great brand of lanolin lip balm is Lanolips, sold at Ulta and they have leaping bunny certification.

      i prefer cruelty free in cosmetics and more vegan food that isn’t so damn expensive. Now vegan companies are being run down, used to be somewhat healthy but they all got mpnsanto and every type of oil on them. It’s nuts seeing the ingredient list change from a few words to a paragraph with complimentary bigger pricetag. I think cosmetics should give less fucks about vegan. Not to mention the bee argument is so flawed when you look at the rate of their survival before and after more production.

      These beauty brands need to realise that changing their very loved OG formulas in such a competitive market is a bad move especially for skin care. Laneige changed their Cream Skin Refiner which was a bestseller and now no one talks about it. Brands can instead launch new products or different versions of the same product for different skin types but people loved their OGs because it worked for them versus so many on the market that didn't. Changing the formula to add more trendy ingredients or to market them as 'vegan' completely defeats the purpose.

      It can. They get it from shorn sheep wool. The sheep need to be sheered at least once a year because their coats are continuously growing.Imagine just piling on wool all year long. Not taking it off is abusive and leads to the sheep being uncomfortable.
      An allergy issue obviously an issue. I know vegans who will eat/use animal products like milk from their own animals/people they trust. Raw honey is yummy.

    • @xqueenfrostine
      @xqueenfrostine 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      So long as sheep are bred, sheep need to be sheared. To not do so is actually cruel to the animal as their coat will get so heavy it’s hard on their joints. Lanolin is derived from the sheared wool so the actual lanolin production isn’t problematic at all for the sheep. That said, we wouldn’t have lanolin to use if sheep weren’t being bred and raised for wool (or meat and milk) production, so while no animal is bringing bred or harmed specifically to make lanolin, the ingredient obviously inherits the same ethical baggage that wearing wool has.

    Ok, sorry, but not everything in the world has to be vegan. However, has glossier retracted the new formula altogether? Why not keep both?

      Right? But I personally don't care if they keep the new formula or the old one. I'm just happy they changed the packaging because the original packaging irked my nerves
