Kim So-hyang (김소향), credited as Sohyang, is a South Korean Christian singer. She was born on April 5, 1978, in Gwangju, South Korea. Sohyang is known for her controlled, skillful and developed voice and is often referred to as the "Korean Mariah Carey". Her goal is to comfort people, who are going through difficult times, with her music and her voice.
Sohyang is also an author and has published multiple fantasy novels since 2013.Her two most well-known novels are 'Crystal Castle' and 'Anaxion'.
Sohyang is a devout Christian. She began singing in her local community, with no aspirations of pursuing a career as a professional singer.
When she was in her third year of high school her parents divorced. Due to this Sohyang had financial troubles and often was very sad. According to her, she used to listen to Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston and Celine Dion all the time, which helped her to get through these difficult times. Even nowadays Sohyang is still a big fan of Mariah Carey. Her favourite album is Music Box.
At the age of twenty, she married Kim Hee-jun, the drummer of her band POS. Soon afterwards Sohyang was diagnosed with cervical cancer; due to the early detection, she was able to survive the cancer but was rendered infertile.
Sohyang gives special lectures about singing and vocal technique in the Baekseok University in Cheonan City

I hope you'll have a chance to watch a video with English subs. Whatever video you react to, choose one with English subs 'cause it's really important to see the lyrics of the song; she selects songs with lyrics that are beautiful and meaningful and however well-known a song may be, if it has inappropriate lyrics, she never performs the song. So many songs are recommended, so choose one you like; any song will do 'cause almost all of her songs are amazing.

I'm the other way around, haha. "Cleaned" end products from televised shows like "Singer"/"Immortal Songs"/etc/etc don't bother me at all. It's what I prefer actually: live performances, but with studio quality audio. Plus, for me, fancams can't fully replicate the experience of being at the concert ourselves either. Fancams is good as a stop gap to quench some curiosity/thirst/hunger. But, the likelihood of me watching it over and over for pure enjoyment of caressing my ears is low, unlike the "processed" televised shows version. But that's just my own preference :) .
