Hey Sammy, ages ago I saw a video of some underwater footage where the camera with a red flashing light was getting smashed by the snapper while they ignored the bait! Would be crazy to somehow get a jig with a red flashing light on it
@@SammyHitzkeFishing too true mate but I’d rather that than EVERY single person I take fishing out off Mooloolaba that gets seasick immediately an I have to cut the trip short an come home most times with only a couple of fish👎👎
Sammy this catch catchy lures, are Berkley copies of the lures we have been using in New Zealand for 8 years. Here they are called kaburas, and the most popular brand is called sliders. Orange is the most popular. We use a very super bendy rod . Either a bender, or the shimano xtune. We usually fish just one at a time. Drop it to the bottom and a slow wind, about a metre per second with an overhead rod. When a fish bites just keep winding same speed. 8 to 10 winds re drop and repeat. Plenty of people try multiple rods. But the best results and the most fun is one rod per angler. We haven't taken bait for over ten years. And if you cone accross a school of snapper you've caught half a dozen in half an hour. Catch kabura, or ocean angler sliders.. I was wondering why those fish were measuring longer than they looked, in NZ we measure them to the v of the tail by law
You know its been a long day solo when even the rods and lures are talking in 3rd person hahaha love your work Sammy. I need to definitely get a bigger boat to hit the deeper water
Bro it would be awesome to see you sit down and talk through the stories of the fish you've got casted up on the wall. Even better if you've got footage of the captures to go with it and talk over. Just an idea!
Love the jigging Sammy, well done. I’m taking some “catchy-catchy” jigs to Alaska this month and am anxious to try them on those fish- particularly the halibut. I’m guessing they’ll do the halibut (and others) like yours did the the snapper. Great stuff my man!
Change of prop can make a huge difference, I was amazed when I changed my prop on my Suzuki, I ended up with better top end speed and jumped out of the hole better that i ever had even with 4 people in the boat.
@@turbostyler My old prop was "13.5 x 15" and the new one is "14 x 13" (both alloy) on a 75Hp Suzuki on a 5M Mustang half cabin and it has made a Huge difference. Only changed it because an old marine mechanic looked at it on my boat and said "change your prop mate and that boat will go a lot better". Same old story, trust somebody with some knowledge not a boat salesman:) The original prop had been on there since the boat was new and now it jumps out of the hole perfectly with 4 people on board, with two of them sitting down the back ( I used to have to ask them to move forward to get out of the hole quicker, but not any more) and my top end speed is 44Km/Hr, about 7Km/Hr better.
Hi Sammy . Awesome content, as always! Is the jig that Rodney rodholder was using a wilson product? Was wondering if it would be effective off newcastle/swansea .
Hi Sammy saw the program on creek to coast Tailor fishing on Straddie did not see any fish caught bleed instruction on the proper way to bleed Taylor would be handy Thx Mate nice snapps
G’day Gary, unfortunately that’s not really something they like to put on TV due to the time slot and different audiences. I can assure you I bleed every fish I keep 👍
Yeah mate I have one in the boat. The fish that have entrails out the bumhole generally aren’t in very good condition so I keep them for a feed. Others with just the swimbladder out or inflated guts get the drop weight treatment if they can’t get down under their own steam 👍👍
Are we getting a video about the swap to the Yamaha engine? You did many hours with the suzuki so it would be great to hear some honesty about the change. Both engines are well regarded for recreational use, your opinion would be well received. 👍
Good old Rodney rod holder always gets the goods! just curious mate, how do you clean your reels an rods after each session? I've always been a bit sceptical about giving them too much of a clean 😂
Haha he’s bloody consistent isn’t he! I usually give them a flush with fresh water and then dry them off and that’s about it mate! I try to get them serviced pretty regularly as well 👌👌
Downside to the Katchi Katchi and all Kabura lures is that it takes no time for fish to bite of the longer dangly bits of latex and when they do, the lure no longer works. I went through $90 worth of Kabura lures my last trip in 1.5 hours. It wouldn't be so bad if it didn't cost $10 to replace the missing piece of latex.
Tie your own mate. It is insane how fragile they are. Hop onto Ali Baba and grab a heap of rubbers and other danglies and an hour or two later at the bench. For about 30$ you'll have a lifetime of stuff.
Hi Mate, great vids ! in one of your future videos could you please show how to brain spine a snapper and a coral trout ? I'm not sure of the exact location and the right angle to get it and they seem to be still alive after I brain them ! Cheers mate!
G’day Mate, I’ve actually already filmed one a couple of years ago if you go for a scroll down through my videos. It’s a little way back but it’s there 👍
@@SammyHitzkeFishing thanks Mate, I will find it ! I also tried as you do it on the video to let one jigging set up jig on its own in the rod holder…. Now I have a good broken rod 😂😂 something hit it fu….ng hard and the rod broke at the handle. Lucky I only lost the lure and not all the rest ! 🎣😃
