Let me know how it goes - remember that routine helps a lot, once they know the songs everything will be easier!

Elizabeth English Teacher Oh, the toddlers and 4 year olds loved the Rollie Polie song. It really calmed them down. I also included another line, "... hands on your lap."

Ok, so If you have done everything in your power to distract him into behaving, you've tried positive motivation (for example a star chart for when they do something well) and he is still being a PAIN in the ***, sometimes this is just not fair on the other kids. At 5 most of the kids I teach understand perfectly in English "do you want to go to the babies class?" So threaten him with having to leave the class and go and sit with the babies. Make sure you have thought this through - and you know that you can take him to another class, just for 5 minutes, because sometimes a 5 the threat is not enough, you have to follow through. If you are not in a school, but in someone's house, threaten that they will have to go to sit in time out, or with mummy. Practice your strict teacher face and remember that you need to get their respect. Something I have done is stand up, stomp my feet on the ground, fold my arms and say "That's enough, I'm very sad, and a little bit angry" Ask him how you are feeling - get him to repeat sad and angry - and start to put on your jacket - say that you can't be his teacher, you are too sad and you are going home. He will look scared, because he thinks you are going to leave him, tell parents etc. so take advantage of this and say ''If you are good I will stay - show me how you can sit down properly, cross your arms and fold your legs, and put one finger on your lips.. now please be ... quiet."
