    MERCH: kazemerch.myspreadshop.com/all
    Download: romhacking.com/hack/Peach-s-Fury
Patcher: hack64.net/tools/patcher.php (requires Super Mario 64 (U).z64 ROM)
NOTE: There is a FAKE GRAPHIC PLUGIN going around that supposedly is better for SM64 hacks. It's a camouflaged "glideN64". It breaks the graphics in this game. If the water isn't blue in your emulator, try a different plugin.

Just finished! I had no idea what the "canyon grid" was for the last star until I saw the opening in this video when you were grabbing the red coins. Final time was 44:20, 4 frames.
Being someone who didn't grow up with Mario 64 and instead had Mario 64 DS, I was never able to fully grok the controls of the original. While the camera was still a little iffy due to the digital inputs, overall, I had much more fun moving around here than in the original.

  • @Grub4K
    @Grub4K 2 ปีที่แล้ว +47

After playing through it, these are my thoughts:
    - The game looks amazing
    - The camera moving noise is a bit distracting, it doesnt fit the camera imo. It sounds like mario is sneezing.
    - It controls very well
    - The music should be paused or faded to be less loud during stardance
    - Coins just float on the water, maybe make them disappear (dont know how feasable that is)
    - Landing from a groudpound onto a bouncy mushroom makes you squish and reset
    - A reset sometimes leaves mario in the air, or not in the state of standing still. It might be worth to reset state, velocity and do a raycast to place him standing on the ground for sure
Hope this helps. Im excited to see where this is going.

Absolutely amazing stuff, had a blast playing though it.
However, I did hit one crash issue on N64 - on the Chuckya Pillar, a chuckya tries to pick you up while you are holding another Chuckya, the game will crash with a "FLOATING POINT EXCEPTION" for an unimplemented instruction.
Crash doesn't happen on emulator, only on N64 via an Everdrive.
Therefore, took me a few tries to get that star just right, since the consequence for failure was a crash.

I know it's just a small hack but in a major hack this respawn mechanic would be super fun if Mario would have different respawn animations. For example if you respawned from water ( 12:25 ) Mario would be spawned on his knees coughing (Maybe say Mamma mia) some water splash effect and stand up. Just a short 3-4 sec animation. If he would falling a pit, he would spawn with his (stuck in) sitting animation. etc.
I think it's a pretty silly but funny idea maybe you like it Kaze

INCREDIBLE work. In case you're on the lookout for bugs or suggestions, here's a running list of what I've encountered so far:
    - Mario does a weird clip whenever he handstands on the Goomba flagpole.
    - The "Star get" sound doesn't mesh too well with the level music, and they're both roughly the same volume. Would be better if level music gets quieter when getting a star.
    - Falling onto the sinking ship made me respawn in the middle of a windmill.
    - You can walk right up the side of the windmill that has the ring of coins at the top, not sure if you're supposed to.
    - It would be nice to be able to get a closer camera angle, it feels a bit far.
    - It felt like Mario should be able to grab a vine while spinning from the spin flower, but he just went through it.
    - Camera glitch occurred on the rainbow bridge down to Chuckya Island.
    - Can't climb Chuckya Island flagpole.

  • @Blobfish_Times
    @Blobfish_Times 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I finally played this, and it's simply amazing! Everything from the gameplay to the visuals to the sound is so fun and polished. The ground-pound dive is so useful, and the camera fixes many issues with the original. You asked for feedback on the engine, and I found a few glitches and things that could be improved, although they are pretty minor, and may not be worth changing, but I might as well list them. Some of them are also in vanilla SM64. Also worth noting is that I used Mupen64, due to not having a flash cart
-The camera angle change after shooting from a cannon is disorienting, the original game's is better
-Moving the camera up and down feels too slow, maybe you could do something similar to C left and right when the buttons are tapped
-The vines feel a bit rigid, it would look more natural if they could swing a tiny bit side-to-side, even if it were purely visual
-When Mario is hanging off a ledge, his shadow appears at his hands, not below the visual model. This was actually fixed in the original game, by not rendering Mario's shadow when in any ledge-grapping states
-The arrow that blinks in a textbox when there are more textboxes to read gets cut off at the bottom, making it look like a trapazoid (this may be an emulator error, but it does not happen with the unmodified rom), also this arrow is high up enough to intersect with text, so that's something to be aware of
-As with the original game, pitch is conserved when going into a dive, causing it to start at a weird angle if Mario's pitch was updated earlier by, for example, sliding on a steep slope
-The camera suddenly moves down after jumping on an object triangle. This happens sometimes in the original game, but it seems like you made objects become intangible at a very short distance away from Mario, causing the camera focus instantly change height the frame Mario is slightly above a floor triangle of an object. This also causes Mario's shadow to appear on the next highest floor
-I've experienced some weird behavior with triangle collision. Firstly, I've experienced a couple of replicable downwarps. If you ground-pound a cloud from the cloud power-up over the water, you downwarp to the water. I've also downwarped where the mountain next to the castle is next to the clouds. Walking against the cloud while standing on the mountain can downwarp you to the water. Also in that area, you can slide along the steep floor at the edge of the cloud
Also, if in RTYI the D-pad doesn't have any functionality, it would be useful if it could be used to move Mario

Kaze, I just played all of "Peach's Fury". Congratulations! The FPS was a joy and I especially loved the new anaologue camera support. Combining both quick flicks and slow pushes for either camera swings or nudges was a genius idea. Level design was fabulous too. Well done. Hopefully somebody at Nintendo will sign you up and use your new code for an official product. Its has terrific unlimited potential for mario fans/gamers/developers around the world. 10/10

Looks really good, I'm looking forward to trying it. My one gripe that I see so far is the skybox looking pretty empty, maybe if there were some clouds or islands in the distance it would be more appealing. That being said, everything else looks near flawless, I especially love the new coin sprites, Mario's New model, and the way the stars glow and fly away after you grab them, instead of just vanishing in one frame.

0:45 Took your advice and played through it first by myself, watched your video, then decided to play through it another 3 times. Amazing hack. (Except now I keep dying in vanilla SM64 trying to ground pound dive haha)

Finally got around to playing this. It's so subtly impressive in many regards that don't "stick out," but make it play like a brand new Mario game. Btw I ran this hack (and all your other console compatible hacks) on Not64 emulator on Wii.

Have you considered making a patch with these optimizations for the vanilla game?

He’s gotten this question several times now, and I believe he said it’s something that he would like to get to eventually, it would just take thousands of hours to accomplish.

As awesome as this would be, from what I can tell the physics of the new engine is actually incompatible with the existing level format, so having the original levels in the new engine would require reworking every single one of them.
